Adjusting your PowerFrame Freeride Boot’s forward lean: the
Easy³ Magnesium Ski/Walk Mechanism can be easily adjusted with
one bolt. To adjust your cus for more or less forward lean, insert
the larger (4mm) end of your included hex key into the Easy³’s
fixing bolt. Loosen the bolt and rotate the cu forward or back,
depending on whether you want more or less forward lean, until the
Easy³’s position indicators line up with those on the cu. There is
also an intermediate position between the three marked positions
for further fine tuning. Tighten the bolt a couple of turns and wiggle
the cu back and forth slightly to be sure that everything is lined
up, and then snug the bolt down.
If you change your forward lean from the factory setting, once you
have determined your preferred position, put a drop of threadloc-
ker on the threads of the walk mechanism’s fixing bolt. Check the
bolt occasionally for tightness.
Sole Sets and binding norms: for the maximum versatility Power-
Frame Freeride boots have two available Quick-Change Sole Sets
that are compatible with the 3 fixed-heel binding norms. The alpine
sole is compatible with the ISO Alpine Norm. The Touring Sole is
compatible with the ISO Touring Norm (UNI) and the Tech Norm
using SCOTT proprietary Tech fittings. It has a Vibram® rubber out-
sole. These Sole Sets can be changed in a flash, snapping securely
into place, and fixed with only three hex bolts per boot. No other
manufacturer has such easily-interchangeable soles.
Changing Sole Sets for dierent bindings: to change your Sole Set
you only need a #3 Posi-Drive Screwdriver. First remove the sole’s
fixing bolts. Set the bolts aside where you won’t lose them. Remove
the sole by lifting the toe first, then pull it forward to unseat its rear
tabs from the shell recesses. The heel pulls o straight towards the
rear of the boot, a “bayonet” attachment.
Note: The toes of both the Alpine and Touring Sole Sets have a
right and a left. They are stamped DX (destra) for right, SX (sinistra)
for left. The heels of each sole set are ambidextrous. Once your
soles are o of the shells, put the shell aside with its appropriate
right or left sole. Choose one of the shells and push the new Sole
Set’s heel straight on to its bayonet-type fixation. Replace the fixing
bolt and snug it down.
Next is the toe. Push the sole’s rear tabs into their recesses in the
shell, and press the toe flat against the shell. It should fit perfectly—
if there are gaps or the toe doesn’t seem to fit properly, be sure that
you have the right sole on the right boot, and that its rear tabs are
inserted properly in the recesses in the shell. Once the sole is pro-
perly in place, while you hold the fixing plate in place, snug down
the two toe fixing bolts. When both boots are done, check all of
your fixing bolts once again to be sure they are snug.
If you change your soles more than once we strongly recommend
using a commercial threadlocker on the threads of the Sole Set
fixing bolts. Be sure to check the bolts regularly for tightness.
