REGULATOR MANUAL
General cautions and warnings
Before the usage of your regulator it is highly required that you have been
educated in diving and proven your skills through confirmation of international
diving schools or organisations.
The incorrect usage of your regulator through untrained or unqalified personel
is dangerous and can end in injuries or death.
This regulator must not be used for air supply above water levels.
Open the valve of the high pressure bottle slowly so the regulator can adjust
to the pressure.
NEVER use lubricants with your regulator and the bottle valve. Due to safety
reasons only trained SCUBA FORCE technicians have the permission to use
lubricants.
NEVER use solvents when cleaning your regulator. You must not use silicon
sprays or else to lubricate your regulator because its contents can damage
the rubber or Plastic E.g. the second stage casing.
The service recommended by the producer of your regulator should be carried
out at least once a year. The execution of said service has to be fulfilled by a
trained service-technician that is part of an employment relationship with an
authorized SCUBA FORCE dealer. Repairs, maintenance, dismanteling or
optimization work on the regulators can only be made by SCUBA FORCE-
trained and autorized personel
NEVER leave the pressured bottles connected with regulators alone. It can
fall onto the first stage and leave permanent damage at both the bottle valve
or the regulator itself.
Your regulator is by no means a “transportation or lifting device” for your
bottles. Use the designed handle at your bottle when carrying them.
Before diving in cold water (Water temperature below 10º C or below 50º F)
you require a special training as well as a certificate licensed by a competent
diving organisation. Furthermore you will need special equipment for cold
water. Equipment marked with the „bigger as 10° Celsius“ symbol (> 10°C) is
only usable for water temperatures above 10°C or 50°F
If you want to configurate your regulator with an additional emergency-
breathing system (Alternative air supply, Octopus)is the right choice of your
equipment required. Every device marked with EN250A is elligible for an
Octopus system.
SCUBA FORCE first stages have to be combined with a EN250:2014 certified
Pressure display.

Setting possibilities outside on your Second stage
Setting possibilities outside on your second stage
Modifications on the outside of your second stage gives you more advantages
because you can change the sensitivity of the regulator depending on your own
personal preferences whilst changing diving conditions apply.
Venturi-Setting
The SCUBA FORCE second stages are equipped with a Venturi- Support. The
Venturi lever is located on the left side, opposite the hose connection and helps with
a bigger airflow after you started breathing in.
You open the Venturi support by turning the lever towards the mouthpiece. There is
a marking on top of the lever which shows what position the lever is currently in.

Version: 2019-I-2 Page 9 of 33
REGULATOR MANUAL
Knob for the inhalation resistance
The second stage of our Black Devil is also equipped with a inhalation-resistance
knob.
The knob is right next to the Venturi lever and it regulates the breathing effort which
you have to make to start the airflow. If you turn the knob clock-wise the resistance
increases.this means, that the second stage will be less sensible towards sudden
changes of environmental pressure. Turning the knob counter clock-wise will lower
the resistance again and you will be able to breath easier. These setting possibilites
are especially helpful in greater diving depth or under changing circumstances which
affect the second stage. Such as diving in heavy currents or using a underwater
scooter. You may use the knob to adjust the performance of your regulator as your
diving session continues, or you can leave it on a middle setting, which treats it the
same way like a non-adjustable one.
Through this knob on the second stage you can change the breathing resistance.
The bigger the dots the higher the breathing comfort.

REGULATOR MANUAL
The Black Devil 2nd Stage disposes a heat exchanger for a better performance in
cold water. Its position is right behind the hose connection.
A big bubble softer and an ergonomic mouthpiece enhance the comfort while diving.

REGULATOR MANUAL
Protection of the first stage against environmental
influences
When diving in cold or dirty water every first stage product made my SCUBA FORCE
owns a membrane that covers the membrane chamber and protects it from
unwanted outer influences.
This dry chamber prevents ice formation in the membrane chamber and extends the
lifespan of our control membrane when using the regulator in extremely dirty water.

REGULATOR MANUAL
Additional emergency breathing systems
Due to safety measures when using autonome light diving equipment (SCUBA) we
recommend an alternative air supply/ reserve regulator. The so called „Octopus“
As an alternative to the classic Octopus system, especially when diving in cold water
it offers itself to use 2 seperate systems. Two first stages with individual second
stages.your bottle has to be equipped with a fitting double valve with two different
exits.
An Octopus is a second stage which is, with its main regulator connected to the
pressure reducer (of the first stage) like its primary second stage.the Octopus is a
Reserve-Second stage. In case the first second stage malfunctions or as an
alternative air supply for your diving partner. With an alternative air supply you as
owner do not have to give up your own second stage if your partners regulator
malfunctions or if he is in a „without air“ Situation.
Due to its intended usage (unlike practice situations) these type of devices will only
be used in emergency situations with high breath needs, since two divers have to be
supplied simultaniously.
That is the reason why our SCUBA FORCE Octopus is built identical to the primary
second stage. The only difference between them is the colour. The Octopus is yellow
so its easier to find in emergencies. Other than that the SCUBA FORCE Octopus
has the same equipment criteria and performance power like the main second stage.
Besides the Octopus, the Performance of the first stage plays a simmilar important
role, because it has to deliver double the output in emergencies and support two
divers. SCUBA FORCE first stages contain a remarkable air power and can support
two divers without losing your breathing comfort.
however we can not forget that autonomous light diving equipment which is designed
for a single diver but is being used by two divers simultaniously must not be used in
water depths greater than 30 meters or a water temperature below 10° C. this goes
for every SCUBA FORCE regulator.
We know emergencies can happen. Even outside the parameters. In
extreme situations we suggest the usage of two seperate first and
second stages.

WARNING: Regulators and equipment subject to limits of uses if
they are used in connection with emergency breathing systems
and the Octopus as well as when air is shared through the
alternative air supply or through alternate breathing. You increase
the risk of serious injuries or death. You have to ensure that you
understand these borders, that you will get the right training level
and prepare your equipment correctly before using emergency
breathing systems.
WARNING: Please ensure when using an Emergency breathing
system (Octopus), that:
The first stage was crafted, tested and CE marked with two
second stages and it is suitable for different water
temperatures and depths. Your device can be used as
emergency-device for more than one diver, if neccessary.
Your device has been tested with the manufactorers
reccomendation. That means it was tested every year and it
has gotten a service.
Look under Service and repair through the specialist dealer if you need more
information.

Preperation and installation of your Regulator
Hose Installation
SCUBA FORCE recommends a hose installation (high pressure and medium
pressure) with their acessories by a SCUBA FORCE specialist dealer. Your dealer
can also give advises regarding equipment configurations and more. If you can not
get your regulator to your dealer you can do the installation yourself. However you
need to follow the steps below.
WARNING! NEVER install a medium pressure hose (inflatorhose
and second stage) at High Pressure connectors. This leads to an
exploding hose and can cause injuries. High pressure connectors
are marked with HP (high pressure) on the first stage. You use
them for finimeters and air integrated diving computers.
Remove the blind plug at any given connector. Use a 5 mm allen wrench (Allen Key)
ANNOTATION: when screwing the hose connectors tight, make sure
that you do not damage the case body of the first stage.
secondary, check if the O-ring at the end of your hose fits the first stage
and is not broken. Carefully screw the end of the hose into the first stage connector.
Use a torque wrench to tighten the hose to 5 Nm.
Low pressure and high pressure connectors are equipped with different threads (3/8
UNF low pressure and 9/16 UNF high pressure). Furthermore the high pressure
connectors are marked seperately. You can confuse them for one another.

REGULATOR MANUAL
The blind plugs are to be removed with an allen key. Fitting tools and little exertion
prevents damage on the first stage.
The hoses are installed with a matching spanner. Again, only little exertion.
SCUBA FORCE recommends, if you install accessories like inflator hoses,
instruments or alternative air supplies to contact your specialist dealer. Your SCUBA
FORCE specialist dealer might be able to answer questions you got while reading
this manual.
1. Before connecting your regulator to the compressed air bottle, the Venturi
lever on the second stage should be set tot he „MIN“ (or-) position.
2. If available, the breathing resistance adjustment knob should be fully screwed
in (clockwise). Avoid applying excessive force tot he adjustment knob.
3. When using an INT connection bracket, you should check the O-ring on the
cylinder valve for damage. If you are using a compressed air bottle with a DIN
bottle valve, first remove the protective cap from the thread of the DIN
connection of the first stage and check the O-ring on the DIN connection of
the regulator. If the O-ring is worn out or damaged, replace the O-ring before
installing the regulator on the cylinder valve.

REGULATOR MANUAL
Installing a hose to the second stage
it is recommended to have your regulator fitted with every
accessory by your specialist dealer. As this is not always
possible, please follow the installation steps listed below to
ensure a correct installation between the hose and your second
stage. SCUBA FORCE regulators are certified with SCUBA
FORCE Scubaflex low pressure hoses that come in different
lenghts (see overview chart). The use of un-certified hoses is
not permitted and can affect the functionality of your regulator.
The Scubaflex low pressure hose is carefully screwed on by hand. Screw the lock
nut of the hose clockwise onto the thread till it stops. . make sure that the threads do
not tilt.
The hose is tightened slightly using a wrench. Make sure you dont put on too much
pressure otherwise you could damage the second stage. If you are unsure and
insecure with your assembly, contact your SCUBA FORCE specialist dealer. He can
carry out the procedure properly and professionally.

REGULATOR MANUAL
Installing the first stage onto the high pressure bottle
(DIN)
WARNING: Make sure you open the bottle valve slowly to prevent
explosions. If opened too fast the bottle can explode and cause
serious injuries or death. The use of oxygenated air is only
permitted if in combination with special equipment
(bottle/regulator authorizedIf you open the bottle too fast you can
damage the first stage. To prevent this open the bottle carefully
and press and hold the air shower simultaneously.
Care-Sign: only use the tiniest bit of lubricant (like Christo-Lube) when
put on the thread of the handwheel. This is a precaution which
prevents the bottle valve getting stuck. DO NOT USE TOO MUCH
LUBE and do not use it inside the handwheel or bottle valve.
1. Remove the dust protection cap of your regulator. Your high pressue bottle
should be placed in a way where it is facing away from you. Now turn the
handwheel counter clockwise till you can hear a little bit of pressured air exit
the bottle.Once you hear the air escape immediately close the bottle again.
This procedure removes moisture and other dirtiness from your bottle.
2. Position the first stage of your regulator close to the bottle valve so that the
low pressure hose goes over the divers right shoulder. While holding the first
stage in place with one hand, use the other to screw the DIN-handwheel onto
the thread of the DIN-connector. DO NOT use tools for this step.
3. If you want to use a finimeter on your regulator, make sure to point the display
away from you. Now you can slowly turn the handwheel (counter clockwise)
and put your regulator under pressure. Keep turning the handwheel slowly
until the bottle is completely open. Once the bottle valve is opened all the way
turn the handwheel about 1/4 - 1/2 back (clockwise).
4. Listen carfully so you can spot possible leaks in your regulator system. If you
think your regulator is leaking keep the the bottle connected and put it all
under water to get a better look.
WARNING: INT-Bracket adapter must not be used with 300 bar-technology!
Remove the dust protection cap first.

Version: 2019-I-2 Page 18 of 33
REGULATOR MANUAL
Put the first stage infront of the bottle valve and carefully carefully screw it on
clockwise.
Screw the first stage all the way onto the bottle valve. DO NOT use tools for this
step. It should be easy to screw on the first stage. If it is not easy, the bottle valve
might be damaged.
SCUBA FORCE first stages give tons of configuration possibilites for single and
double devices. The first stage can be installed in different positions, Dependend on
the prefered configuration. Your SCUBA FORCE specialist dealer can give
information about all the different possibilities.
Diving with your regulator
Before every use you have to visually inspect and test your regulator. NEVER dive
with a regulator that has obvious flaws and a weaker performance level than usual. If
that is the case, the regulator has to be put under a complete inspection and
maintenance by Authorized SCUBA FORCE specialist dealers.
Checklist before your diving session
1. Make sure every hose is installed correctly on the first stage.
2. Make sure the low pressure hoses are not damaged.
3. If hose enhancers are installed, push them back and check the hose ends for
damage.

Version: 2019-I-2 Page 19 of 33
REGULATOR MANUAL
4. Check the the first and second stage for damages outside.
5. check the outer sealing membrane for damages or changes which could
cause damage.
6. WARNING! If the outer sealing membrane is damaged, DO NOT dive with
this regulator! Take it to a SCUBA FORCE specialist dealer. The
efficency of your regulator can be afected and the first stage could
freeze.
7. Mount the first stage of your regulator onto the high pressure bottle. If you
need instructions read the chapter for installing the regulator. Open the bottle
valve slowly but all the way.
8. Turn the breathing resistance-setting knob on the left side of your second
stage till it delivers the least breathing resistance. Do not use any more force
when the knob has stopped turning, otherwise you could damage the
regulator.
9. Open the bottle valve SLOWLY to put your regulator system under pressure.
Press the air shower button for a short time to clean out the second stage of
dust or other impurities. Let go of the button and listen if the second stage still
blows out air, even though you let go of the button.
10.Breath out slowly through your regulator. Your device should give you enough
air to breathe effortless.
11.Use the display of your finimeter to make sure you have enough air in your
bottle.
12.Make sure the Venturi-lever on the topside of your second stage is set to
„MINIMUM“.furthermore look at your breathing resistance- settings knob and
carefully turn it all the way.Do not use too much force when turning the knob
shut(clockwise). Both of these settings will help you not lose too much air
when entering open water or when swimming on the water surface.
While you are diving
If you are ready to dive, turn the breathing resistance- settings knob on the left side
of your second stage as far out as you can (clockwise). After that turn it back
(counter clockwise) till you hit a comfortable breathing without the knob feeling
unneccessarily sensible.
When under water you can turn the knob even further so breathing gets easier. This
is really important to know if you do deep-diving, since the airtight increases.
WARNING: Deep-diving requires special training and equipment.
It also increases decompression sickness and other diver
sicknesses.
SCUBA FORCE is not an advocate when diving deeper than 40 M
(130 feet) or diving sessions that pass the given no deco limits.

REGULATOR MANUAL
Diving in cold water
Regulator and other diving gear has its limits when used in cold water with a
temperature below 10º C (53ºF). You risk serious injuries which could be lethal when
diving in cold water without neccessary equipment or training. .
In agreement with EN 12021 compressed air has to have an accordingly low
condensation point to prevent the regulator from freezing. The applied air has to, no
matter the water temperature, always correspond to EN 12021.
If the regulator is stored and used under a known temperature, the pressure dew
point must always be at least 5ºC below the lowest expected possible temperature. If
the application temperature and the storage temperature are unknown, the pressure
dew point MUST not be above -11ºC.
Before diving in cold water (watertemperature below 10º Celsius / 53ºF) you should
have had a specialized training by a competent diving organisation. Only use diving
gear made for cold water diving.
You can reduce the danger of a freezing first stage by using a special regulator with
a dry encapsuled chamber.
The Black Devil second stage disposes very good cold water properties. You should
not use different second stages.
The diver should know the right techniques for cold water diving. He also has to
know all the secuirity measures on how to prevent the first stage from freezing.
All of these things are part of a seperate course called „cold water diving“ or
„icediving“ and are offered by the Diving school. To lower the risk of a frozen
regulator while cold water diving (below 10º Celsius watertemperature/53ºF) follow
these recommendations and follow the guidelines your diving school taught you
1. ALWAYS protect the first and second stage of any water accidentally
entering.
2. Protect your equipment from the cold and stash away your regulator
somewehere dry and warm.
3. Execute equipmentchecks somewhere dry and warm before you go diving.
4. Avoid pressing the airshower button in very cold air. DO NOT breathe in
through your regulator before entering water.
5. Avoid removing the second stage from your mouth underwater so no water
enters the second stage.
6. Avoid (as much as you can) excessive air extraction of your regulator.
7. Avoid (as much as you can) alternating between regulators. In ermegencies
offer up your second regulator.
WARNING: SCUBA FORCE regulators have usage limits when
diving in water with a temperature below 10ºC. if you try to dive in
cold water without neccessary equipment or training you risk
injuries or your own death.
