SeaLife Launches Its New Flagship Underwater Camera—
The DC1400 Brings 14 Megapixel Images and HD Video to New Depths
MOORESTOWN, N.J. (September 19, 2011) — SeaLife, the world-leader in underwater
photographic equipment, has raised the bar yet again with introduction of the new
DC1400, setting the stage to create your own personal undersea concerto of sight and
sound. Five easy-to-use “Piano Keys” allow you to take either true high-definition 720p
video or 14 megapixel high-resolution images of your adventures beneath the seas—
and of your topside adventures, as well.
Depth tested to 200 feet (60 meters), the DC1400 incorporates a feature-packed,
premium high-resolution underwater camera with a new design that redefines simplicity
and ease of use. The DC1400’s five large primary control keys eliminate the confusing
button cluster of a traditional camera to provide simple one-handed operation in any
environment—even with gloves on.
A fingertip “Central Command” lever is located in front of the DC1400’s large shutter
button to allow scrolling through various menus. It also controls the 5X optical zoom
without releasing your grip from the camera. The Super Macro Auto Focus lens will
focus down to within one inch from the subject. The camera’s external polycarbonate
body is rubber-armored for sure-grip handling and shock-protection in all conditions.
The DC1400 offers six specially designed underwater modes, making it possible for
anyone to take sharp, colorful underwater pictures. The DC1400’s 1-2-3 graphic on-
screen guide takes the guess work out of setting up the camera for great pictures on
land or underwater.
The DC1400 functions just as remarkably topside as it does below. Its slim, pocket-
sized inner camera can be removed quickly from its rubber-armored waterproof housing
for your land adventures. Twenty-seven scene modes—from Auto to Shutter or
Aperture Priority to Smile Detection to Landscape to Night Scene to Fireworks—provide
optimal programming to take perfect images and videos in any condition. In Anti-Shake
mode, the DC1400’s new Optical Image Stabilization CCD-shift technology reduces
image blur caused by hand movement on land.
The large 3-inch LCD screen on the DC1400 allows flawless framing and easy on-
camera viewing above or below the waterline. A Spy Mode autonomously operates the
camera to take a continuous string of images at your custom-preset time intervals, so
you can capture the perfect shot of hard-to-photograph subjects.
“The DC1400 is a revolutionary camera that will allow all levels of divers, adventurers
and watersports enthusiasts to take amazing photos and High-Definition videos with
ease and confidence” said Brian Correia, director of sales and marketing. “Ease of use
and advanced adaptation to underwater conditions have made SeaLife the world leader
in underwater cameras. The DC1400 is truly a major technological step forward for
underwater photography, and we are proud to introduce it as our new flagship camera.”
The DC1400 is guaranteed to be waterproof to a depth of 200 feet. Complete with its
rugged housing, it measures just 3.7 X 5.3 X 2.8 inches (HxWxD), and it weighs less
than 18 ounces. Its rechargeable lithium battery will power the camera for approximately
one hour of continuous HD video—perfect for a two-tank dive—or for in excess of 200
photographs. Spare batteries are available. The camera system includes 20 MB of built-
in memory, and an SD/SDHC Card can be added for up to 32 GB of memory.
The SeaLife DC1400 Underwater Camera (item # SL720) is available at dive and photo
shops nationwide at a suggested list price of $529.95. To locate an authorized SeaLife
dealer near you, visit www.sealife-cameras.com/dealer/index.html.
