Section 1. PRECAUTIONS
KENMORE PRO
• This refrigerator has 360° rotating casters. To prevent rolling or skidding while moving the unit, make sure to secure it firmly.
• Due to the weight and size of this refrigerator, and to reduce the risk of personal injury or damage to the product, a minimum
of four people are required to bring the unit into the home, and two people are required for proper installation.
• Do not damage the refrigerant circuit.
• These refrigerators use icemakers manufactured specifically for these models, and are to be installed only by the
manufacturer or its service agent.
• Never put fingers or other objects into the dispenser hole and ice chute. This may cause personal injury or damage the unit.
• Do not use or store inflammable gas or volatile substances near or in the refrigerator; there is a risk of explosion or fire.
• Do not install the refrigerator in a damp location or where it may come into contact with water. There is a risk of electrical
shock or fire.
• Do not place fingers or hands on the automatic ice making mechanism (if so equipped) while the refrigerator is plugged in.
This will protect you from personal injury.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Read these instructions completely and carefully.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
• Unplug the refrigerator before making any repairs.
• Before replacing a burned-out light bulb, turn the master control switch to O (OFF), unplug the refrigerator, or turn off power at
the circuit breaker or fuse box in order to avoid contact with a live wire filament. (A burned-out light bulb may break when
being replaced.)
• Do not plug any other appliances into the same outlet as the refrigerator.
• If the wall socket is loose, do not insert the power plug.
• Make sure that the power plug is not squashed or damaged by the back of the refrigerator; a damaged power plug may
overheat and cause fire.
• When moving your refrigerator away from the wall, be careful not to roll over or damage the power cord.
• Do not bend the power cord excessively or place heavy articles on it. This is a fire hazard.
• Do not insert the power plug with wet hands; you may receive an electric shock.
• Do not disconnect the power plug by pulling on the cord. Damage to the cord may cause a short circuit, fire or electric shock.
• The manufacturer, a certified service agent or qualified service personnel, must replace a damaged power cord.
• If the refrigerator is disconnected from the power supply, wait for at least five minutes before restarting it.
• When there is thunder or lightening or when the product is not used for a long time, flip up the grill panel and set the power
switch to the O (OFF) position.
• Turn off the power switch before changing or repairing the electro-control system.
• Use genuine Kenmore parts during changing of electro-control system.
• If you find moisture in the electro-control system, change or clean and insulate the part.

refrigerator.

After selecting an installation space:
1) Measure the door clearances to make sure the refrigerator can be moved though the house
to the installation space.
2) Measure the installation area for proper ventilation and wall clearances as shown the
illustrations* Below (Page 3, installation manual) here.
The door overhang makes the total refrigerator outer width 48”. Note that the necessary
width of the installation space need only be 47.5”.

• The floor must be able to support the weight of the refrigerator and the food inside (1102lb or 500kg total).
• The floor must be level so that the refrigerator does not vibrate or make noise.
• Do not place the equipment in direct sunlight.
• Place the product close to a properly grounded electric outlet.
• Select a place with easy access to water supply for the water & ice dispenser.
• Humidity around the product should be low for best operation.
• Do not install the refrigerator in a where it may come in contact with water. Deteriorated insulation of electrical parts may cause
an electric shock or fire.
• The installation space needs an ambient temperature between 46℉(5℃) and 109℉(43℃).
• If installed at a place with an extremely cold or hot ambient temperatures, the product’s operation can be effected, its cooling
capacity will decrease and there will be increased power consumption.
• Do not block ventilation openings in the appliance enclosure or mounting structure.
• This refrigerator is top heavy, and must be installed and secured properly to prevent the possibility of tipping over. Anti-tip
protection is required. See the following illustrations:

Section 3. ARRANGEMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
1. Machine Compartment Fan Motor Delay Function
●
This refrigerator is programmed to control its temperature automatically in accordance with the ambient
temperature.
●
The Compressor Cooling Fan (Machine Compartment Fan) is controlled according to the ambient temperature.
●
The table below shows the ambient temperature range and cooling fan operation.
2. ICE-MAKER Function
a) When initially powered on, the ice ejector motor rotates the ejection arm to check that it is in horizontal position.
b) While the ejection arm rotates, water is supplied for 0.5 seconds.
c) The ice maker goes on stand-by for 46 minutes.
d) After 46 minutes the sensor checks the ice tray temperature.
e) If temperature stays below 18.5° F. for five seconds, the ejection arm rotates to horizontal to check if the ice bin is
full.
f) If it is not full, ejects the ice cubes. If the bin is full, it does not eject the ice cubes.
g) When ice ejection is complete, the water solenoid valve again supplies water to the ice tray.
h) The cycle repeats steps c-f until the ice bin is full. If, during step (e) the ejection arm senses that the bin is full, it
does not signal for more ice to be made.
i) Note : water is supplied to the ice maker at all times, even if the freezer door is open.
1) Testing the Ice Maker
1) To manually operate the ice maker, move the feeler arm up and down three times within 16 seconds of power-on.
2) The ice ejecting motor will then eject the ice.
3) After ejection the feeler arm will rotate, check for the horizontal position and signal for water to be supplied to the ice
tray.
2) Operating Error is signaled by the LED blinking continuously
1) Turn the ice maker power switch off and then back on. If this does not fix it, move to step 2.
2) If ice cubes are stuck in the ice maker
a. turn off the ice maker
b. remove the cubes and
c. turn the ice maker back on
The Ice Dispenser function stops working when the freezer door is open. If the ice dispenser runs when the
freezer door is open, the ice falls on the floor.

3) Defrost Function
1) Freezer Defrost depends on the accumulated run time.
2) With the initial power-on, defrost starts in both the refrigerator and freezer after 6 hours accumulated run time.
3) The defrost cycle is changed automatically from MIN 5 hours to MAX 10 hours.
4) The defrost cycle depends on the ambient temperature, the frequency of door opening, and the duration of door opening.
Defrost Heater Off temperatures compared to the temperature values of Refrigerator-
Defrost Sensor and Freezer-Defrost Sensor:
4) ALARM Functions
1) BUTTON TOUCH Sound
a-1. When pushing a button on the Control Panel, the Button Touch Sound is heard.
a-2. If you press more than two buttons at the same time or press an incorrect button, the alarm does not sound.
2) DOOR-OPEN Alarm
a-1. After the Refrigerator or Freezer door is open for 2 minutes, the alarm sounds.
a-2. If the door stays open, the alarm will sound again every 2 minutes.
a-3. The alarm stops immediately when both of the doors are closed.
5) Restoring Operating Conditions during Power Failure
Power failure or initialization of the Panel Display often causes the customer to call for service. When the unit senses
power loss, it self-diagnoses (when the power comes on) by checking the freezer temperature to decide whether to re-
initialize or to restore the previous operating conditions.
1) If the freezer temperature is below 41℉, this is considered a power failure and the previous functions (Rapid Ice, Light,
Lock, F and R-Compartment Settings, Ice Types, etc.) related to the PANEL DISPLAY are restored.
2) If it is over 41℉, it is considered an extended power failure. The unit starts to initialize the PANEL DISPLAY (Automatic
setting as the F-Compartment at 0℉and the R-Compartment at 38℉and acts as a new install.

6) Load Status Display Function
; This function displays the operation status of refrigerator loads that MICOM controls at that moment.
1) When pressing the Rapid Ice and the Lock buttons simultaneously for 6 seconds during normal operation, the
refrigerator and freezer temperature LEDs blink on and off for 2 seconds (at intervals of 0.5 seconds.)
2) After this 2-second period, release those 2 buttons and press the [Fridge Temp] button to show the Load Status
Display.
a-1. The Load Status Display shows the load operation command from MICOM.
a-2. It is not the actual load in operation - just what MICOM (the microcomputer) is calling.
a-3. The LEDs for the sections under load command will blink repeatedly.
a-4. After the Load Status Display shows for 30 seconds, the normal display is restored.
: The relevant segment LED comes on when the F-FAN HIGH operates.

7) Test Function (Forced Operation/Forced Defrost)
;This function is to test Comp operation. In case of Inverter Comp, RPM is changed depends on the running status.
We only test following 3 cases instead of testing all the running RPM.
To initiate the Test Function:
1) Press and hold the [Fridge Temp.] Control button and the [Rapid Ice] on the PANEL PCB at the same time and hold for
8 seconds.
2) All LEDs on the display will go out as the unit enters the Test Mode. Release the buttons.
3) You can use any button on the panel as a test button.
4) When pressing the TEST BUTTON, the Test Function will be selected in the order of
1-1. forced operation 1 (FF 1)
1-2. forced operation 2 (FF 2)
1-3. forced operation 3 (FF 3)
1-4. forced defrost (fd)
1-5. Cancellation (steady operation)
5) To cancel the Test Function: turn power OFF, then ON.
To initiate Forced Operation
1) Press Test button once in Test Mode; display will shows FF1 meaning that the unit is in Forced Operation 1. This is confirmed
when the Buzzer sounds a warning Beep.
2) FF3 is displayed if press FF 2, 1 times more if press Lock key 1 times more in forced operation 1 and each means forced
operation 2,3 and each moves differing each Comp's RPM.
3) When the Forced Operation is selected, the Comp operates immediately without a 5-minute delay. This time, defrost has to be
discontinued immediately if is doing defrost.
4) When the Forced Operation is selected, the F&R-Compartment temps will be automatically selected to -14 ℉ and 34 ℉
respectively. But when the Forced Defrost or Test cancellation is selected after 1 minute elapsed while Forced Operation, the
temperatures do not change they will be maintained at “-14 ℉ ” and “34 ℉” , and when the forced defrost or Test operation is
cancelled within a minute or the Forced Operation selection, the temperatures change to the previously selected temperatures.
5) Upon completion of the Forced Operation (24 hours), both compartments perform a Defrost regardless of their previous
operating conditions.
6) After the above, Defrost operates under normal defrost conditions according to the setting controlling the R-Defrost.
7) When the Forced Operation is cancelled before it is completed (changing to the cancellation function),the comp-on time during
the Forced Operation will be added in the defrost cycle.
Forced Defrost Function
1) Press Lock key in forced operation 3 (FF 3). Display shows Fd forced operation immediately canceled, and defrost of F and R
begin.
2) Beep alarm sounds when this is achieved. It sounds at 0.75 seconds ON/0.25 seconds OFF sound after ring for 3 seconds
from injection visual point.
Test Cancellation Mode
1) After changing into Test mode, pressing a Test button once more during the simultaneous Forced Defrost will cancel the
Forced operation and the unit will return to normal operation.
2) All Test Functions are cancelled if the power is turned off and then on again.
If the Heater turns on during the Forced R-Defrost and the simultaneous Forced F/R-Defrost is selected, before
the Defrost completes, it won’t turn off the R-Heater but compare its temperature with that of R-Eva.

8) Self-Diagnosis Function
Self-Diagnosis during Initial Power On
1) When powering on, the Main PCB checks the temperature sensors for errors.
2) If a defective sensor is found, the relevant display LEDs will flash on and off at intervals of 0.5 sec. There will be no warning
beep.
3) Even though sensor has a defect, the unit will operate in emergency mode.
4) While showing this error display, the unit will recognize only the self-diagnosis command(Press Rapid Ice and Lock buttons for
8 sec.)
5) Normal temp control will be on hold.
6) To cancel the self-diagnosis display:
a. Repair the faulty sensor, or
b. Press the Rapid Ice and the Lock buttons are pressed for 8 seconds
Self-Diagnosis during normal operation
1) To initiate self-diagnosis: Press the Rapid Ice button and the Lock button simultaneously for 6 seconds. The entire temperature
setting display will blink for 2 seconds at the interval of 0.5 sec.
2) Press the Rapid Ice button and the Lock button simultaneously for 8 seconds, including 2 seconds of the blinking.
3) The buzzer sounds to indicate that Self-diagnosis is now selected..
4) When the self-diagnosis starts, all the LEDs turn off and the error related LED segments blink indicating errors. (See the Self-
Diagnosis Checklist below)
5) When an error occurs, the blinking LED will be displayed for 30 seconds; after 30 seconds the display will return to normal
status.
6) No button selectlons will be recognized during self-diagnosis.
Main PCB Communication Error
1) If there is any communication error between the door panel and Main PCB is maintained for 10 seconds with the power on, the
refrigerator is converted to Communication Error Display mode.
2) "Pc" on the freezer LED and "Er" on the fridge LED will blink in 0.5 second intervals until the error is corrected.
3) When a communication error occurs between Main and Load after normal operation, the communication between door Panel
and Main PCB with the initial power on, Main PCB immediately sends the error message between Main and Load to the door
Panel, and the Panel Display immediately goes into the Main and Load Communication Display mode.
4) "Lc" on the freezer LED and "Er" on the fridge LED will blink in 0.5 second intervals until the error is corrected.

EXAMPLE:
1) Press the Freezer Temp. and the Lock buttons simultaneously for 12 seconds.
2) Only the Freezer Temp. and the Fridge Temp. temp LEDs remain lit.
3) The Option mode begins and "0" for FRIDGE and "0" for FREEZER will light up on the display. (The factory setting is
"0" for FRIDGE and "0"for FREEZER.
a. This may be changed if necessary, but it is wise to leave the factory settings
4) When "0" on FRIDGE is displayed, the Freezer temperature can be set; the current temperature setting of the Freezer
will be shown on the FREEZER display.
5) After setting "0" to the FRIDGE and selecting "6" as shown in the Freezer option chart on the next page, the standard
Freezer temperature will be lowered by 6 ℉ .
a. See the table for temperature changes of the Freezer.
b. 20 seconds after the temperature is adjusted, Main PCB stores this set value in EEPROM, restores the normal
Display and exits the Option Setting mode.
6) It is possible to control the Fridge temperature, the Water Supply, the Ice-Maker Sensor temperature, the Temperature
Control Drawer temperature in the same way as shown above. See table for setting selections.
7) The option setting is not completed until it restores the normal Display in 20 seconds.
8) Do not turn it off before the normal display is restored.
For instance;
In this case, you can lower the FZ compartment Temp. as 3°F and the Temp. can be within the range of setting Temp.
Press and hold the Freezer Temp. and the Lock buttons simultaneously for 12 seconds to enable the Option Setting mode.
FZ compartment setting Temp. : 38°F
FZ compartment actual Temp. : 41°F
9) Option Setting Function
This function is to compensate the temperature when the actual temperature is lower or higher than the setting
temperature. Refrigerator temperature can be within the range of setting temperature with this temperature
compensation. (This function only can be used when you can’t find out the root cause of the problem and
unavailable to repair. Except this case, you are not recommended for using this function.)
