This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. It may be plugged into an AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current). Do not use
any other electrical outlet.
DO NOT OPERATE APPLIANCE IF THE LINE CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE, OR IF APPLIANCE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR
STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY.
A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in
or tripping over a longer cord. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension
cord is used,
1) The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and
2) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped
over unintentionally.
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to t into
a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug and try again. If it still does not t, contact a
qualied electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS
1. Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance.
2. To insert plug, grasp it rmly and guide it into outlet.
3. To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet.
4. Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If any are found, this indicates that the appliance should be
serviced and the line cord replaced.
5. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undo stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and
cause it to fray and break.

BEFORE FIRST USE
IMPORTANT
During the rst few minutes of initial use, you may notice smoke and/or a slight odor. This is normal and should quickly disappear. It will
not recur after appliance has been used a few more times.
For your safety, always read and understand the Use and Care Manual before attempting to use any electric appliance.
BEFORE USING:
1. Carefully unpack the toaster. Remove all packaging materials, including those which may be inside the toasting slots.
2. Wipe exterior surfaces of the base with a soft, moist cloth to remove dust particles collected during packing and handling. Dry
thoroughly. Do not use abrasive cleaners. NEVER IMMERSE THE TOASTER, CORD OR PLUG IN WATER OR ANY OTHER
LIQUID.
3. Be sure the crumb tray is pushed all the way into the toaster.
4. Your toaster is now ready to use.
Solid surface countertops can be easily scratched, cracked, scorched, or damaged, especially when exposed to heat. To prevent
damage, the following precautions should be observed when using this product:
• Always use a trivet under heat generating sources such as Slow Cookers, Toaster Ovens, Skillets, or any other Kitchen Appliance.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: The toast lever will not stay in the toast (down) position unless the toaster is plugged into the wall outlet.
1. Be sure no bread or other objects are inside the toast slots. Place the toaster on a at, level, heat-resistant surface.
2. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
3. Rotate the adjustable browning control to the desired setting. Setting 1 is the lightest toast setting and setting 5 is the darkest toast

8
setting. Since the browning level of toast is a personal preference, you may want to rst experiment to nd your ideal preference.
4. Remove any protective wrappings from foods before placing them in the toast slots. Avoid toasting torn breads or toaster foods, as
they may become lodged in the toast slots.
5. Insert the bread or toaster food into the toast slots. Lower the toast lift / plunger by pressing it downward until it locks in the down
position. The self-centering guides will automatically center the bread for even toasting. When the toast lift / plunger lever locks in
the down position, the toast cycle will begin.
6. When the toast cycle is complete, the toast will pop up and the toaster will automatically turn off.
7. To stop or interrupt any toasting cycle, rotate the Adjustable Browning Control Dial counter-clockwise to the CANCEL setting during
the toast cycle. The bread will pop up and the toaster will turn off. NEVER force the carriage up manually to cancel the toasting cycle.
This may cause damage to the toaster. Always use the CANCEL feature.
CAUTION: Due to possible risk of re, DO NOT cook toaster pastries in this toaster. Use a toaster oven instead.
If a toaster must be used:
• NEVER use cracked or broken toaster pastries.
• NEVER leave the toaster unattended.
• ALWAYS use the lightest toast setting.
• The toaster should NEVER be operated by children. Fillings will become hot and may cause burns.
CLEANING AND STORAGE
This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Any servicing that
requires disassembly, other than cleaning, must be performed by a qualied appliance repair technician.
TO CLEAN:
Be sure the toaster is unplugged before cleaning.
NOTE: If the toaster is used daily, it is recommended that the crumb tray be cleaned weekly.
Wipe the toaster exterior with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Do not put cord or plug in water or other liquids.

9
CRUMB TRAY: To prevent electric shock, be sure the toaster is unplugged from the wall outlet. Remove the crumb tray by pulling the
crumb tray away from the bottom of the toaster. Discard the crumbs over a sink or garbage can and wipe tray with a clean cloth. Replace
the crumb tray, pushing in rmly so that it is fully inserted in the bottom of the toaster.
TO STORE:
Be sure all parts are clean and dry before storing. Store appliance in its box or in a clean, dry place. Never store it while it is hot. Never
wrap cord tightly around the appliance; keep it loosely coiled or use the cord wrap underneath the toaster.
HELPFUL HINTS FOR TOASTING
• ALWAYS remove all protective wrappings from food before placing in the toast slots.
• For best results, clean the crumb tray frequently.
• Toasting can be affected by the temperature of the bread. Room temperature bread may toast differently than bread that has been
refrigerated, even at the same toast setting.
• Moisture content affects toasting. Fresh breads and bagels will have a higher moisture content than those purchased from the bread
section in a supermarket. A second, shorter toasting cycle may be required to reach desired doneness.
• Thin breads or sweet breads brown more quickly and should be toasted on a lighter setting.
• When toasting a single slice, you may notice variations in bread color from side to side.
• When toasting more than one slice of bread, use slices of similar size, thickness and freshness.
• Do not reheat or toast buttered breads.
• Do not block the toast slot openings.
• To remove food that becomes lodged in the toast slots, disconnect the toaster from the wall outlet and allow the toaster to cool. Turn
the toaster upside down and gently shake. Do not use a fork or other utensil, as it could damage the heating element or result in risk
of re or electrical shock.
• Do NOT force the carriage up manually to cancel the toasting cycle. This may cause damage to the toaster. Always use the CANCEL
feature.
