Operating Instructions for the Semak Pie Warmer
1. Make sure that the knob is in the “OFF” position. is in the off position.
2. Plug into an earthed 240V AC power supply.
3. Turn the switch knob on the warmer until the dial reaches high for maximum
heat.
4. When warmer reaches the desired temperature (see the temperature gauge)
turns the knob to the desired temperature.
5. Place foodstuffs in a preheated oven. Foodstuffs should be maintained at 60ºC
to prevent bacterial spoiling. ( The failure to meet proper food-handling
standards may result in food poisoning and prosecution.)
6. Foods that are placed in the warmer in a frozen state require longer in the oven
to reach the desired temperature than those placed in the oven when at room
temperature.
7. Care should be taken to ensure that the food has reached the correct
temperature on the inside. The food warmer is also an oven capable of heating
and cooking food. It is possible for foodstuffs to reach 110ºC and hence the
contents of e.g. pies to become scalding hot. Great care should be taken to
ensure the food is properly heated and stored.
8. Uncooked or raw foodstuffs should be separated from cooked food to prevent
cross-contamination. A system of food rotation will minimize the risks of this
problem.
9. A small dish of water may be used as a humidifier to prevent food drying too
rapidly. Do not allow the dish or water to come in contact with the heating
element. It may be necessary to replenish the liquid several times during
operation.
10. DO NOT run the warmer when empty. The heating capacity of the oven will
vary depending on the quantity of foodstuffs within. Adjustment to the heat
settings may be necessary as quantities vary.
11. When finished heating turn the knob to the “Off” position.
12. Remove crumb tray, empty and clean. Remove trays and wipe over with a
damp cloth.
13. Paper bags should not be placed in the oven. If however, they are placed in the
oven they should not come into contact with the element. Extreme care and
close supervision is required at all times in this situation.
14. NEVER leave the warmer on unattended. ALWAYS unplug the warmer after use.
