Dear Customer,
Before using the appliance, please read the
following instructions carefully and keep this
manual for future reference. e appliance
must only be used by those familiar with
these instructions.
Connection to the mains supply
e appliance should only be connected to
an earthed socket installed in accordance
with the regulations. Make sure that the
supply voltage corresponds with the voltage
marked on the rating label of the appliance.

Important safety instructions
 is appliance may be used by children
(at least 8 years of age) and by persons
with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lacking experience and
knowledge, provided they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the
use of the appliance and fully understand
all dangers and safety precautions
involved.
Children must not be permitted to play
with the appliance.
Children must not be permitted to carry
out any cleaning or maintenance work on
the appliance unless they are supervised.
 e appliance and its power cord must be
kept well away from children under 8 at all
times.
Caution: Keep any packaging materials
well away from children – such materials
are a potential source of danger, E.g. of
suocation.
Caution: is symbol indicates that
the accessible housing surfaces may
become very hot during operation. Do
not touch any part of the appliance except
the handle; use suitable oven cloths if
necessary.
Before the appliance is used, the main unit
as well as any attachment tted should
be checked thoroughly for any defects.
Should the appliance, for instance, have
been dropped onto a hard surface, it must
not be used any longer: even invisible
damage may have adverse eects on the
operational safety of the appliance.
 e power cord should be regularly
examined for any signs of damage. In the
event of such damage being found, the
appliance must no longer be used.
Do not operate the appliance if excessive
force has been used to pull the power
cord. Damage cannot always be detected
from the outside; the entire unit should
therefore be checked by a qualied
technician before it is used again.
Do not allow the housing or the power
cord to touch hot surfaces (E.g. cooker
hotplates) or come into contact with any
other heat sources.
Do not operate the grill without the grill
plates tted.
During operation, the appliance must
be placed on a heat-resistant surface,
impervious to splashes and stains. When
cooking food with a high fat or moisture
content, splashes are not always avoidable.
Always switch o and remove the plug
from the wall socket
-aer use,
-in cases of malfunction, and
-during cleaning.
When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord;


always grip the plug itself.
Before moving or storing the appliance,
ensure it has cooled down completely.
Do not use the handle to carry the
appliance.
 e appliance is not intended to be
operated by means of an external timer or
separate remote-control system
No responsibility is accepted if damage
results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
 is appliance is intended for domestic or
similar applications, such as
- in shops, oces and other similar
working environments,
- in agricultural areas,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc. and
similar establishments,
- in bed-and breakfast type environments.
In order to comply with safety regulations
and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical
appliances must be carried out by qualied
personnel, including the replacement
of the power cord. If repairs are needed,
please send the appliance to one of our
customer service departments. e

Indicator lamp
e main red indicator lamp remains lit
while the appliance is pre-heating.
Temperature control
e required grill temperature can be
adjusted continuously from MIN (keeping
warm) to MAX (grilling).
Before using for the rst time
Clean the tted grill plates with a damp,
lint-free cloth and wipe dry aerwards.
Close the unit.
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet,
and use the On/O switch to turn the
appliance on. Set the temperature control
to its MAX position.
Let the grill heat up for about 15 minutes
without any food. is will remove the
smell typically encountered when rst
switching on a grill. (A little smoke may be
emitted; this is quite normal, but ensure
there is sucient ventilation.)
Let the appliance cool down.
Clean the grill plates aerwards as
described in the ‚General care and
cleaning’ section.
Operation
Set the appliance up in the desired
operating position.
Contact grilling
E.g. cutlet or escalope, sandwich, panini
etc.:
Fold the upper grill element straight down
onto the food to be grilled.
Cooking ‘au gratin’
E.g. toasted dishes:
Put the upper grill element in a vertical
position, pull it up and then move it down
again towards the front (see picture I), so
it is above the lower plate.
Barbecue-type grilling
E.g. steak, cutlet or escalope:
Put the upper grill element in a vertical
position, pull it up and move it down
again towards the rear (see picture II), so
that the grill plates are aligned with each
other and level
Ensure that the grill plates have been
correctly tted.
Ensure that the fat collection tray is placed
properly under the excess fat drain; always
empty it in good time during operation.
(with barbecue-type grilling, both fat
collection trays should be in position.)
Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
Use the temperature control to choose the
desired temperature level.
Wait until pre-heating is complete and the
temperature indicator lamp goes out.
 e non-stick grill plates only need to be
slightly greased when rst used.

 e grill is now ready for use.
Open the lid if necessary.
Place the items to be cooked into the
unit. e cooking or grilling time
depends largely on the nature of the food
concerned.
In order to prevent the non-stick grill
plates from being damaged, do not use
sharp or pointed objects while placing or
removing food items.
Aer cooking is nished, remove the plug
from the wall socket and allow sucient
time for the unit to cool down.
General care and cleaning
Before cleaning the appliance, remove the
plug from the wall socket and make sure
that the grill has cooled down completely.
To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not
clean the appliance with water and do not
immerse it in water.
 e outside of the grill may be cleaned
with a so damp cloth only. Wipe dry with
a dry cloth aerwards.
Cleaning the non-stick grill plates:
-e plates can be removed for easy
cleaning: open the unit into the
'Barbecue-type grilling' position (see
picture II).
- Push the clamp on the plastic handle
outwards and li up the grill plate.
- Remove the plate by pulling it out.
- Once removed, the plates may be
cleaned in hot water using a little
detergent, and a suitable so brush; do
not scrape the plates, and do not use any
harsh or abrasive cleaning agents.
- Dry the plates thoroughly.
- When replacing the plates aer
cleaning, ensure that the lugs on the
plate are inserted properly into the
corresponding brackets on the unit.
Fold down the plate until it is heard to
lock into the clamp at the front.
e fat collection trays can also be cleaned
with hot soapy water.
Disposal
Do not dispose of old or defective
appliances in domestic garbage;
this should only be done through
public collection points.
Guarantee
is product is guaranteed against defects
in materials and workmanship for a period
of two years from the date of purchase.
Under this guarantee the manufacturer
undertakes to repair or replace any parts
found to be defective, providing the product
is returned to one of our authorised service
centres. is guarantee is only valid if the
appliance has been used in accordance with
the instructions, and provided that it has not
been modied, repaired or interfered with
by any unauthorised person, or damaged
through misuse.
is guarantee naturally does not cover wear
and tear, nor breakables such as glass and
ceramic items, bulbs etc. is guarantee does
not aect your statutory rights, nor any legal
rights you may have as a consumer under
applicable national legislation governing
the purchase of goods. If the product fails
to operate and needs to be returned, pack it
carefully, enclosing your name and address
and the reason for return. If within the
guarantee period, please also provide the
guarantee card and proof of purchase.
