A.
Center awning rail approximatley 4 inches above top of window frame. Seal
back of awning rail with silicone caulking before tightening screws. Spread
feed end of awning rail as shown to avoid damage to fabric.
Feed bead and awning into awning rail from prepared lead end. Center window
awning and drill a,1/8" dia. hole through awning rail, awning fabric and bead.
Fasten with a # 6' x 1/2" sheet metal screw. Repeat these steps on the other
side pulling the awning taut.
Fix arms to top plug with # 12 x 3/4" self tapping screws. Line up top
plug so that it is flush with the opening in awning rail. Mark location of
bottom brackets. Remove bottom bracket from arm. Position bottom brackets
on marks and mark mounting holes, If there are wood ribs in this area drill
4 - 3/32" dia. holes on your marks. Fasten the bottom bracket into place with
4 - # 8 x 3/4" sheet metal screws. If there isn't any wood in this area, drill 4 -
3/16" holes on your marks and fasten bottom brack9ft with special pop rivets
provided. Repeat these steps for the other bracket.
Remove the # 12 x 3/4 " self tapping screw from the awning arm that holds
the top plug in place. To load spring tension on the awning roller turn the
top plug while holding onto the awning and roller tube as indicated in draw
ings. The right hand spring is wound counter clockwise as you face the end
of the awning. The left hand spring is wound clockwise as you face the end
of the awning. After winding spring replace top plug into awning arm and
refasten with the # 12 x 3/4" self tapping screw. Repeat steps for the
remaining side.
CAUTION: A.
keep clothes and hands clear of top plug as personal
can result.
B. Springs under tension can be dangerous. If not held tightly spring
will un
wind quickly. C. Hold top
plug with vise grip pliers until top plug is secured
back into awning arm,
Pull the awning down by using the pull strap. Open fully. Adjust pull strap so
it is positioned in the center of awning. Pull on strap until awning is taut.
Insert
loop of
pull
strap
on strap retainer. Hold strap retainer against unit.
Mark location of mounting holes. Attach strap retainer with 3 - # 8 x 3/4"
sheet metal screws. If
there isn't wood in this location
use 3
pop rivets
included.
