MP-2N Minipump
The MP-2N minipump is a small, lightweight, portable air suction pump that runs on batteries. The stroke can be changed depending on
the flowrate used, which reduces power consumption and pulsations during sampling. Be sure to carefully read this operation manual
before using the product.
Before Using the Product (Be sure to read the following and use the product with sufficient care.)
●Place this product on a level and stable surface.
●This product is not explosion proof, so do not use it near combustible or flammable materials.
●Do not modify or repair: Never disassemble or modify this product, as doing so will void the Sibata warranty. It could also result in
an unforeseen failure or accident.
●Have any product failures repaired promptly. Never operate the product with an unrepaired failure or attempt to repair it yourself.
Doing so could result in an unforeseen accident.
●To clean dirty surfaces, wipe with a soft dry cloth (moistened with a neutral detergent for stubborn dirt).
●Never attempt to install the batteries with the polarity reversed. Doing so could result in heat or fire, causing a product failure.
●If the product will not be used for an extended period, be sure to remove the batteries. Leakage from the batteries could cause a product
failure.

■Troubleshooting
Symptom
Cause
Remedy
The pump does
not operate after
turning the
[POWER] switch
ON.
The batteries are not installed.
Insert eight AA batteries at the specified position.
The batteries are not oriented correctly.
Re-insert the batteries with the correct orientation.
The batteries are depleted.
Replace the batteries.
Problem with the AC adapter (if the pump operates
properly when using the batteries.) Replace the AC adapter.
The motor has failed or malfunctioned.
Request repairs.
The pump
operates, but
there is no
suction.
Damage to the diaphragm, or valve leakage
Request repairs.
Problem with the suction hose (cracks etc.)
Replace the hose.
The filter is clogged.
Remove the suction hose connector, and clean the filter inside.
If the filter is very dirty, replace it.

■Names of Parts
■Power Supply
<Batteries >
Remove the battery compartment cover (9), and insert the batteries as per the figure. (Be careful to orient the batteries correctly.)
●If the product will not be used for an extended period, be sure to remove the batteries.
Leakage from the batteries could cause a product failure.
●The batteries provided are not rechargeable. Attempting to recharge them could cause
leakage and damage. Do not recharge them.
<AC Adapter >
Connect the cord from the PA-213 AC adapter to EXT. POWER (8), and plug the power cord into the power outlet.
■Flowrate Adjustment
(1) Using the slotted screwdriver provided, turn FLOW ADJ. (2) fully in the clockwise direction.
(2) To set the desired flowrate, loosen the two cross-head (+) screws
on flywheel <1>, grip the crank arm, and pull flywheel <2> slightly
forward. After this, press flywheel <1> with your finger, rotate the
slotted head (-) screw, align the ▼ sign on flywheel <2> with the
scale on flywheel <1>, and tighten the cross-head (+) screws.
(3) Configure the scale setting on the flywheel slightly higher. After the
adjustment, turn FLOW ADJ. (2) to make fine adjustments.
(4) Check the flowrate with a flowmeter (sold separately).
●To ensure stable sampling with minimal pulsations, adjust the flowrate mainly with variable stroke using the flywheel.
Pulsations can be minimized during sampling by maintaining a high rotation rate even in the low flowrate region.
■Usage
(1) Connect a hose (or tube) to the air intake port or the exhaust port.
(2) Adjust the flowrate to the prescribed value as per “■Flowrate Adjustment.”
(3) Turn the [POWER] switch (1) ON, activating the pump.
(4) To stop the pump, turn the [POWER] switch (1) OFF.

(2) FLOW ADJ. (Flow adjustment)
Turning this clockwise using the slotted screwdriver that is provided
increases the number of rotations, increasing the flowrate.
(3) OUT (Exhaust port)
The external diameter of the exhaust port
hose connector is dia. 6. Use a tube with
an internal diameter of dia. 5.
(4) IN (Air intake port)
The external diameter of the air intake
port hose connector is dia. 6 and dia.
8, in two stages. Use a tube with an
internal diameter of dia. 5 or dia. 7.
(1) POWER Switch
Switches the pump ON/OFF.
(7) REMOTE
This connector is for turning the pump
ON/OFF using an external switch.
(5) Variable Stoke Unit Cover
The cover is easily removed by
pulling on it while squeezing it with
your fingers.
(6) Flywheel
A flywheel is built in inside the variable
stroke unit cover. Adjust the flywheel to
change the length of the diaphragm
stroke.
(8) EXT. POWER
This connector is used to connect the optional
PA-213 AC adapter.
(9) Battery Compartment Cover
This lid is removed when replacing the batteries.
