THE GAS SAFETY (INSTALLATION AND USE) REGULATIONS
1996. It is the law that all gas appliances are installe by a
registere person, in accor ance with the above regulations.
Failure to install appliances correctly coul lea to prosecu-
tion. It is in your own interest, an that of safety, to ensure
that the law is complie with.
It is essentia that the app iance is correct y earthed. An
e ectricity supp y of 240 V - 50 Hz fused at 3 A is required.
Rea these instructions carefully before attempting to oper-
ate the appliance.
1.1 INTRODUCTION
The Sime “ECOMFORT PLUS” is a fully automatic, wall mount-
e , room seale , fan assiste combination boiler. When oper-
ating in winter mo e, the appliance provi es central heating
as require an pro uces instantaneous hot water upon
eman .
When operating in summer mo e, the central heating is not
operational however the appliance continues to supply hot
water whenever it is require . The heat output is automati-
cally controlle by the fully mo ulating gas valve (within its pre-
set limits), an there are user a justable potentiometers to
control the temperature of both central heating an omes-
tic hot water. A temperature/pressure gauge is fitte an an
overheat thermostat is incorporate to protect against fault
con itions.
1.2 APPLIANCE OPERATION
A eman of hot water will be sense by the appliance
etecting water flow (provi ing that the flow rate is above 2
l/m - 0.5 gal/min).
The fan will start an the burner will light at full output. If
the raw off rate is near the maximum esign flow rate
the appliance will run continuously at full output until a tap
is either turne off or the flow rate is re uce in which
case the heat output will re uce accor ingly to maintain a
stea y temperature.
Hot water is ma e available almost imme iately at the appli-
ance outlet, but the final temperature an time taken for the
hot water to reach a tap epen s upon the potentiometer
setting, the rate at which water is rawn off, an the length
of the pipe between the boiler an the tap.
When the tap is turne off, the appliance will revert to C.H.
mo e (if set on winter position) otherwise the burner will be
extinguishe pen ing the next eman for hot water.
1.3 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1.3.1 To ight the app iance (see fig. 1)
– Check that the electricity supply is off an that the D.H.W.
isolation valve is in the open position (lever vertical). Check
that the gas supply is on.
– Turn the selector switch summer/winter (C) to SUMMER
(water only) position “ ”.
– Switch on the electricity supply an full open any D.H.W.
tap. The burner will light.
If the burner fails to light, turn the selector switch sum-
mer/winter to “ “ position an release it imme iately;
then turn it to the SUMMER position: the burner shoul
now light. Turn off the tap.
– Check that the room thermostat an time clock are call-
ing for heat. Turn the heating potentiometer (E) to maxi-
mum (fully clockwise).
– Turn the selector switch summer/winter to the WINTER
position “❄" an the burner will light to serve the heating loa .

rotating the potentiometers (D - E) clockwise to increase
or anticlockwise to ecrease the temperature.
NOTE: when operating in winter mode, priority is auto-
matica y given to providing hot water when the demand
arises.
1.3.2 To turn off the app iance (see fig. 1)
–For short periods:
Set the selector switch (C) to the OFF position an urn off
the DHW Isolation valve. When require , restore turn the
selector switch to either the SUMMER or WINTER posi-
tion an turn on the DHW Isolation valve.
–For onger periods:
Set the selector switch (C) to the OFF position, turn off
the DHW Isolation valve, turn off the gas isolation cock.
When require , manually rotate the pump, open the gas
isolation cock, turn on the DHW Isolation valve an turn
the selector switch to either the SUMMER or WINTER
position.
NOTE: If frost protection is required-turn the se ector
switch to the summer position, do notiso ate the gas
supp y, turn off the DHW Iso ation va ve.
1.4 MINIMUM CLEARANCES
The following MINIMUM CLEARANCES must be available for
servicing the appliance:
1.5 ROUTINE SERVICING
To ensure continue efficient operation of the appliance, it is
recommen e that it is checke an service as necessary at
regular intervals. The frequency of servicing will epen upon
the particular installation con itions an usage but in general
once a year shoul be a equate. It is the law that any service
work must be carrie out by a register person (C.O.R.G.I.).
1.6 GENERAL INFORMATION
1.6.1 Fau t finding indicators (LEDS)
The appliance is fitte with a safety cut-out thermostat. In
the event of overheating this will interrupt the power supply
an prevent the appliance from functioning. If this occurs,
allow the appliance to cool, turn the selector switch sum-
mer/winter to “ “ position, then turn it back to the previous
position (see fig. 2). If the cut-out con ition is repeate , turn
off the electrical supply an consult your installer or service
engineer.

1.6.2 Temperature/pressure gauge
The gauge (A fig. 1) on the facia panel in icates the approxi-
mate system pressure. The normal operating pressure is
between 1 an 1.5 bar. If the normal running pressure is
seen to ecrease over a perio of time there is a water leak
an you shoul consult your installer or service engineer.
1.6.3 E ectrica supp y
The mains plug use must be a 3 pin type to BS1363, an
fuse at 3 A. THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED.
NOTE:
an interruption in the e ectricity supp y whi st the burner
is a ight may cause the overheat thermostat to operate. If
this is suspected, turn the rotary switch to “ “ position,
then turn it back to the previous position.
TO CONNECT A PLUG
As the colour of wires in the mains lea of this appliance may
not correspon with the coloure markings i entifying the
terminals in your plug, procee as follows:
the wire which is coloure green an yellow must be con-
necte to the terminal in the plug which is marke with the
letter E or by the earth symbol - or coloure green an yel-
low; the wire which is coloure blue must be connecte to
the terminal marke with the letter N or coloure black; the
wire which is coloure brown must be connecte to the ter-
minal marke with the letter L or coloure re .
1.6.4 Venti ation
If the appliance is installe in a cabinet, the latter MUST NOT
be use for storage purposes. Any ventilation provi e for
the appliance uring installation MUST NOT be blocke an a
perio ic check must be ma e to ensure that the vents are
free from obstructions.
1.6.5 C eaning
Use only a amp cloth an mil etergent to clean the appli-
ance outer casing. DO NOT use abrasive cleaners.
1.7 SAFETY
It is essential that the instructions in this booklet are strict-
ly followe for the safe an economical operation of this
appliance. The appliance functions as a fan assiste bal-
ance flue unit.
The flue terminal MUST NOT BE OBSTRUCTED un er any cir-
cumstances. If amage , turn off the appliance an consult
the installer, service engineer, or gas supplier. If it is known or
suspecte that a fault exists on the appliance it MUST NOT
be use until the fault has been rectifie by a competent per-
son.
WARNING: IF A GAS LEAK IS SUSPECTED OR EXISTS,
TURN OFF THE GAS SUPPLY TO THE APPLIANCE AT THE
GAS SERVICE COCK. DO NOT OPERATE ANY ELECTRICAL
SWITCHES. DO NOT OPERATE ANY ELECTRICAL APPLI-
ANCE. OPEN ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS. DO NOT
SMOKE. EXTINGUISH ALL NAKED LIGHTS. CONTACT THE
GAS SUPPLIER IMMEDIATELY.

Setting the time
The time of ay can be set by grasping
the outer e ge of the black ial an
turning it in a clockwise irection until
the correct time is in line with the white
pointer.
Setting the “switching time”
The “ON” perio s are set by sli ing the
blue tappets, a jacent to the time peri-
o s require , to the outer e ge of the
ial.
The tappets that remain at the centre
of the ial will be the “OFF” perio s.
N.B.: The sma est switching time (ON
or OFF) is 15 minutes.
– To select “Timed” mo e move the
selector switch in the mi le of the
clock face to the “”position.
– To select “Constant” mo e move
the selector switch in the mi le of
the clock face to the “I” position.
– To select “OFF” mo e move the
selector switch in the mi le of the
clock face to the “O” position.

When the selector is in the “AUTO” position, boiler func-
tioning is automatically controlle on the basis of the
temperature levels an time perio s set. The secon
selector must be in the “RUN” position to start.
The programming proce ure is escribe below:
–Setting the time
Set the selector to the “CLOCK“ position. Press “h” to
change the hour on the isplay, or “m” to change the
minutes. To set the ay, press the “1…7” button until
the arrow is pointing to the correct ay (1 =
Mon ay… 7 = Sun ay).
–Setting the program
The time clock has 8 on times an 8 off times. To
make it easier to use, the time clock is supplie with
3 on times an 3 off times alrea y set for each ay
of the week, as shown below:
To select programmes other than those alrea y set,
move the selector to position “P”; “0:001” will appear
on the isplay, in which the first three igits in icate
the hour an minutes, while the fourth igit i entifies
the program number. O -numbere programs i en-
tify requests for operation ( ay temperature), in
which case the light bulb symbol will appear on the
isplay, while even-numbere programs i entify
rops in temperature (night). Use the “1…7” key to
select the ay of the week (from 1 to 7) or ays (1 ÷
5, 6 - 7; 1 ÷ 6 or every ay if the program is to be
repeate every ay of the week). Set the hour an
minutes with the “h” an “m” buttons.
Press “P” to store the operation in memory an go
on to the next program. Repeat the same proce ure
to set the remaining programs.
When finishe programming, set the selector to
“RUN” position.
–De eting one or more programs
The on an off time must be elete for each pro-
gram to be elete .
Set selector (2) to position “P”. Select the esire
program with button (3), then press button (4) to
elete the ay setting (the triangular symbols for the
ays shoul go away). If part of the program is ele-
te , when you set selector (2) back to the “RUN”
position an error will appear in the clock isplay,
referring to the program which is incorrect.
To elete all programs, put the selector in position
“P” an press buttons (3) an (5) at the same time.
–Setting the SKIP function
The SKIP function eactivates programs for the next
ay an resumes regular programming 24 hours
later.
This function is useful if you will be out all ay an
on’t nee heating.
To start this function, press button (7), which is acti-
ve only when selector (2) is in “RUN” position.
Once you have selecte the SKIP function, it will go
into effect at 0:00 of the next ay for 24 hours.
You cannot turn it off once it has starte , so regular
programming will not resume until 24 hours have
passe .
