Introduction
This document describes the
software and other changes introduced
with the following new software
versions:
• PI50SW1.0.1
• DSPSW2.0.1
ThePI50softwarecontrolsall
functionalityintheSimradPI50catch
monitoring system. This includes data
reception and interpretation, interfaces
with external peripherals and sensors,
and all user interface (sensor views
and menus).
TheDSPsoftwarecontrolsthedigital
signal processing that takes place in
thePI50receiver.

make sure that the computer design
and construction allows for marine
use and safe installation. A laptop
computer may be used as long as it
meets the functional requirements.

Operating system
ThePI50softwarehasbeen
designed for 32-bit Windows®XP®
and 32-bit Windows 7®. For new
installations, we recommend that
Windows 7 is used.
OnWindowsXPcomputers,
ServicePack3isrequired.
About graphic adapters
The graphic adapter must support
DirectX9.0c,andmustbecompatible
withDirect3dandOpenGL.Alarge
number of commercial graphic
adaptersareavailable,andSimradhas
not tested all of them. Even adapters
thatmeettheminimumspecications
mayfailwiththePI50software.
Wewelcomeanyfeedbackwith
comments or experiences with graphic
adapters.
About USB serial adapters
IfyouhaveconnectedaUSB-to-
serial adapter to the computer, do not
removeitwhilethePI50isrunning.
Also, do not move the adapter to a
differentUSBsocketonthecomputer.
