Introduction
The fast development of swooping forces the canopy manufacturers to reach technical
excellence when developing new products. After two years of searching for the optimal
configuration we’re happy to present the latest 30-cell ultra high performance cross-braced
canopy, the Scirocco, designed for competitive canopy piloting!
By listened to experienced swoopers when designing the Scirocco and using their feedback,
we’ve design what we think is the optimal canopy for swooping.
The Scirocco is a beautiful canopy with minimal air intakes, a smoothly shaped nose and
it is built with 30 sections to give a really low profile, making the canopy have less induced
resistance and allowing the pilot to reach an even higher performance.
The Scirocco opens softly and flies great in deep brakes. The removable slider is easy to
disconnect with just a single hand. It can also be delivered with a traditional collapsible
slider.
The canopies profile and line trim makes it easy to keep the canopy diving for a long time
which gives you a high speed, but a high speed with no control is of little use so we’ve
designed the canopy to make it easy to fly with the front risers, even at high speed after
many rotations, making it easy to reach the gate. The back risers have a long range that
translates into efficient flight, even at low speeds. Once transitioning to the toggles the
canopy does not become much distorted, keeping its efficient form for an even longer
swoop.

The canopies are made of ZP-fabric, the suspension lines are made of either HMA-350 or
HMA-400 lines with protective coating and the lower control lines are made of HMA-950
lines.
The canopy is delivered with either a collapsible slider or a full RDS system, including a
svivel link to prevent a spinning pilot chute from distorting the slider during opening.

Recommendations
To maintain safety margins for heavier pilots, Skylark recommend the usage of HMA-400
lines for canopies above 82 square feet.
We recommend a wing loading between 1.9 and 2.6 lbs/sq.ft. Optimal performance is
reached with a wing loading between 2.2 and 2.5 lbs/sq.ft.
Skylark recommends that only kill line equiped pilot chutes made of ZP-fabric with a
diameter of at most 700mm be used.
Scirocco is optimized for risers from 500mm for the Scirocco 64 upto 600mm risers for the
Scirocco 124.
Skylark recommends that the Scirocco is packed with a standard ProPack.
