X-RAYRADIATIONPRECAUTION
1.Excessivehighvoltagecan producepotentiallyhazardousX-RayRadiation.Toavoidsuch
hazards,thehighvoltagemustnotbeabovethe specified limit. The normalvalue ofthe high
voltageofthisreceiveris24KV atzerobeamcurrent(minimumbrightness)under220VAC
powersource. The highvoltagemust not, underanycircumstances, exceed 29KV.
2.Eachtimeareceiverrequiresservicing,the highvoltageshouldbechecked followingthe
HighVoltageCheck procedureinthismanual.It isrecommended thereadingofthe high
voltageberecorded asapartofthe servicerecord.It isimportanttouseanaccurateand
reliablehighvoltagemeter.
3.TheprimarysourceofX-RayRadiation inthisTVReceiveristhe picturetube.Forcontinued
X-RayRadiationprotection,the replacementtubemustbeexactlythe sametypetubeas
specified inthe part list.
4.Somepartsinthisreceiverhavespecialsafety–relatedcharacteristics forX-RayRadiation
protection.Forcontinued safety,partsreplacementshouldbeundertakenonlyafterreferring

SAFETYPRECAUTION
Warning:Serviceshouldnotbeattempted byanyone unfamiliarwithnecessaryprecautionon
thisreceiver.The followingarethe necessaryprecautionsobserved beforeservicingthis
chassis.
1.Sincethepowersupplycircuitofthisreceiverisdirectlyconnectedtothe ACpowerline,an
isolation transformershouldbeused duringanydynamicservicetoavoidpossibleshock
hazard.
2.Alwaysdischargethe picturetubeanode totheCRTconductivecoatingbeforehandlingthe
picturetube.The picturetubeishighlyevacuated and ifbroken,glass fragmentwillbe
violentlyexpelled.Useshatterproofgogglesand keeppicturetubeawayfromthe
unprotected bodywhilehandling.
3.When replacingachassisinthe cabinet, alwaysbecertainthatall the protectivedevicesare
putback inplace,suchas:non-metalliccontrolknobs,insulatingcovers,shields,isolation
resistor-capacitornetworketc.
4.When replacingpartsorcircuitboards, disconnect the powercord.
5.When replacingahighwattageresistor(Metaloxide filmresistor) on circuitboard,keepthe
resistor10mm (1/2in.)awayfromcircuit board.
6.Connection wiresmust bekept awayfromcomponentswithhighvoltageorhightemperature.
7.IfanyfuseinthisTVreceiverisblown,replaceitwiththe FUSE specified inthe chassispart
list.
8.Thereceiverisdesigned tooperatewith220V(50/60Hz)ACmains.

Radiation protection afforded bythemcannotnecessarilybeobtained byusingreplacement
componentsrated forhighwattage,etc.Replaced partswhichhavethesespecialsafety
characteristics areidentified inthismanualanditssupplements,electricalcomponentshaving
suchfeaturesareshadedontheschematicdiagramand the part list.
Beforereplacinganyof thesecomponents,read the partlistinthismanualcarefully.The useof
substitutereplacementparts,whichdo nothavethesamesafetycharacteristics,asspecified in
the part list maycreateshock, fire, and X-RayRadiation orotherhazards.

b.AfterTVison, press "factory"key(SeeNote1)twin then gotothefunction set menu.
3-2Press 'PM'keyand 'SM'keyonthecontrolboardatthesametimeuntil the picture
changesslightly(jumpiness ortwinklingatone blow),thismeansthe memoryhaving
been partialinitialized. Operaterepeatedlyifthe picturehasnochange.
All oftheTVsetmustbepartial memoryinitializedbeforeexfactoryorafterchangeof
theChromaICNN5198 /NN5199orfullymemoryinitializedafterchangeofthe
EEPROM24C04 (Note4).
