SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS & PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST for SNAPPER
19” STEEL DECK WALK BEHIND MOWERS
INTRODUCTION: The SNAPPER 19” Walk Behind Mowers are shipped almost fully assembled and require
minimal set-up. Complete each of the following steps carefully. Review and complete each item as instructed
on the Pre-Operation checklist. The Snapper Product Registration card must be filled out and sent to Customer
Service department at Snapper when completed.
STEP 1: Remove machine from shipping carton. Machine
is shipped in carton with handles disconnected. Remove
and discard cardboard from between all handles. Raise
upper handle until it is seated in both lower handles.
Securely tighten handle T-Knobs on both sides. Position
handles and secure with nuts and bolts to the lower deck
brackets. Tighten nuts and bolts securely. See Figure 1.
NOTE: Handles are mounted on the inside of the deck
brackets. Insert bolts so that the nuts will be towards the
inside of the brackets. See Figure 2.
FIGURE 1
IMPORTANT: DO NOT tip machine with carburetor or
spark plug down. Oil from crankcase will saturate the air
filter and cause the engine to be hard to start or not start
at all. If contamination does occur, the air filter will have to
be replaced.
STEP 2: Tip mower back against the upper handle to gain
access to cutting blade. Remove foam shipping block
from cutting blade. This must be removed before starting
the engine.
STEP 3: Route recoil rope up to rope guide on upper
handle. Move blade control bail up to handle. Pull recoil
handle to extend rope past guide. Insert rope into guide.
STEP 4: Handle height is adjustable for different height of
operators. Loosen the two nuts on the inside of each of
the lower handles. See Figure 2. Move the handle up or
down to the desired height. Retighten all nuts securely
after adjustment.
FIGURE 2
STEP 5: CHECKLIST: Complete all items on the Pre-
Operation Checklist as instructed.
