No DVD Playback, Deformed Pick-up Assembly 1312

SYMPTOM
No DVD playback due to a deformed pick-up assembly.
CAUSE
The deformation is caused by heat resulting from overcurrent
produced by a DVD servo malfunction.
SOLUTION
1. Replace the assembly # H211 "Assy, Pick-up"
(9-885-037-37), and perform the "Skew Adjustment".
2. Write the following files onto a CD-R or CD-RW:
• Two files are attached to this document, viz. "DIVA2N_R.bin" (for destinations N and R) and
"DIVA2B_E_GI.bin" (for destinations B, E, and GI). Download the applicable file and rename it to
"DIVA.bin" before writing it onto the CD-R or CD-RW.
• A dummy file called "Dammy" of more than 200 MB in size, without extension. Any kind of data file is
appropriate.
3. Upgrade the set's software as explained below to add the overcurrent protection feature.
Step 1 – Insert the above CD-R or CD-RW into the unit and start loading.
Step 2 – The unit will load the disc and the following message will appear on the screen.

Step 3 – Select "Total" and press the "Enter" key on the remote control.
Step 4 – After a while, the tray will open automatically. Do not touch the unit or the remote control until the
message of step 5 appears.
Step 5 – After a while, the following message appears, indicating that the upgrading is completed.
N / R Models B / E / GI Models
Step 6 – Remove the CD-R or CD-RW from the tray.
NOTE
• Do not operate any button on the unit or the remote control while the upgrade is running, otherwise there may a
possibility that the set will never work again.
• After upgrading, the following settings will be reset to their original values: DVD Language Setup, Audio Setup,
Screen Setup, and Parental Setup.
