Set up instructions
•Place reservoir on an even surface.
•Position solar panel in a sunny aspect but do not connect to pump yet.
•Place water pump into centre of the reservoir.
•Position support tray onto reservoir.
•Place the access cover over the open end of the reservoir.
•Attach delivery system to the water pump.
•Position pump cover into place to keep light out of the reservoir.
•Wet one of the feeder mats and insert through the hole in the bottom of
the pot until the pointed tip is just below the top of the pot.
•Now place the pot on the support tray feeding the feeder mat through
the hole in the support tray. Ensure the feeder mat is touching the
bottom of the reservoir.
•Repeat for all remaining pots.
•Fill the pots with the HydroCoco taking care to keep the feeder mat
upright and central.
•Firm down ensuring good contact between the mat and HydroCoco.
•Make a hole in the HydroCoco large enough for your plant. Add your
plant and gently firm the HydroCoco down around the plant.
•Place 2 drippers into each pot, pushing them in approximately halfway.
•Water in well using a watering can with a fine rose until the HydroCoco
is moist, but not saturated.

TIP: If your plants are small and the weather is not very hot you can wait for up to a week
before you move onto the next step. (As you have already watered your plants and they have
not rooted through yet, their water requirement will still be quite low)
•Now fill the reservoir with nutrient following the directions below and
then connect the solar pump to the back of the solar panel.
Feeding and watering
Add water to the nutrient bottles as indicated on the bottles.
DO NOT mix the nutrients together. It is important to add water to the
watering can and then add the ‘A’ nutrient to the water and then the ‘B’
nutrient using the dosage rates below.
Add 6ml of nutrient ‘A’ and 6ml of nutrient ‘B’ to every 1 litre of water.
The Solar Hydro Quad holds 30 litres.
Top up the reservoir as necessary, NEVER let the water level drop below the
level of the pump.
REMEMBER: Plants will use more water on hot sunny days than on colder overcast days.

Pump care
The best way to overwinter your pump is to keep it running in clean water.
Here’s what to do:
•At the end of the season take the pump out of the Solar Hydro
planter and remove the delivery system.
•Gently wash off any visible dirt under the tap.
•Immerse the pump in clean water in a bucket or other light resistant
(fully opaque) container complete with a lid.
•Add a little household vinegar to the water to make it mildly acidic, this
will help prevent algae and clean the pump.
•Connect to the solar panel more or less facing the sun.
•Every now and again check water level is above pump and water is
clean.
This way your pump will be ready for action again when spring arrives.
