SonicAire ZCK User manual
The Zone Control Kit (ZCK) allows a user
to limit the active cleaning area of any fan
by turning the main fan motor on and off
using magnetic targets and a proximity
sensor during a normal fan rotational
cycle. The active cleaning zone created
by magnetic targets can range from 30°
to 270° (expandable to 330°).
The ZCK is normally installed in the
factory, but is also available as a field
installed kit coupled with the installation
of a 3 phase gear motor replacement
where a Reverse Control Kit (RCK) had
formerly been used.
The end user will need to mount the
magnetic targets in their proper positions
for desired cleaning angle segments,
which can be done easily by using this
manual as a reference.

existing unit and have questions about
installing this kit please contact SonicAire.
NOTE: The ZCK accessory is
incompatible with the use of a Variable
Frequency Drive, and should therefore
NOT be used in conjunction with a
SonicAire Command15 control panel.
NOTE: If you are using the ZCK in a
compact location, note that the fan
shroud will rotate a full 360 degrees.
Care should be taken to ensure that
the rotational path of the SonicAire fan
does not interfere with any obstruction
prior to turning the fan on. Your PRO
Series shroud may be longer than that
of your prior legacy fan. Check fan
manual for clearance details.
Installation and electrical wiring must be completed by qualified persons in accordance with all applicable codes
and standards.
Ensure installation securement does not penetrate walls or ceilings where electrical components or wiring could
be potentially damaged.
Use this unit only in the manner intended by SonicAire.

Installing the ZCK

Arc Segment Example
1Locate the magnetic arcs shipped with
your fan. They may already be attached to
the top gear.
2 These targets will magnetically mount
to the bottom side of the top gear. The
magnets should be mounted roughly
1.5” from the outer edge of the top gear
(Figure 1.1).
3 When properly installed the proximity
sensor will trip sensor relay within 1/4” of
the magnetic targets. This relay will turn
the main fan motor on and begin cleaning.
4 The center of the fan nozzle will be positioned approximately 65° from the position
of the magnetic target when it trips the proximity sensor and turns on the fan (Figure
1.3).
Consider this offset when positioning magnetic targets to ensure that the preferred
cleaning segments have been achieved.

5 The magnetic targets can be readjusted to change the cleaning angle segments in
the field. Simply reposition the magnets on the top gear.
