If you cannot t une in a preset
st ation
Push and release t he SEEK/ AM S control
up or dow n to search for the station
(automatic tuning).
Scanning stops when the unit receives a
station. Push the SEEK/AMS control up or
down repeatedly until the desired station is
received.
Note
If the aut omatic tuning st ops t oo f requent ly, press
(SHIFT), t hen press (3) (PLAY MODE) repeat edly
until “ LOCAL” (local seek mode) is displayed. Then
press (4) (n) t o select “ LOCAL-ON.” Press (SHIFT).
Only the st at ions w ith relat ively st rong signals w ill
be tuned in.
Tip
If you know t he frequency of t he st ation you w ant
to list en t o push t he SEEK/AM S control up or dow n
and hold unt il the desired f requency appears
(manual t uning).
If FM st ereo recept ion is poor
— M onaural M ode
1During radio reception, press (SHIFT),
then press (3) (PLAY M ODE) repeatedly
until “M ONO” appears.
2Press (4) (n) repeatedly until
“M ONO-ON“ appears.
The sound improves, but becomes
monaural (“ST” disappears).
3Press (SHIFT).
To return to normal mode, select
“MONO-OFF” in step 2 above.
Changing t he display it em
Each time you press (DSPL), the item changes
as follows:
Frequency ˜Clock
After you select the desired item, the display
will automatically change to the Motion
Display mode after a few seconds.
In the Motion Display mode, all the above
items are scrolled in the display one by one in
order.
Tip
The Mot ion Display mode can be turned of f. (See
“ Changing t he sound and display set tings” on
page 14).
Storing t he stat ion names
— Station M emo
You can assign a name to each radio station
and store it in memory. The name of the
station currently tuned in appears in the
display. You can assign a name of up to eight
characters per station.
St oring t he st at ion nam es
1Tune in a station w hose name you w ant
to store.
2Press (LIST) for tw o seconds.
3Enter the characters.
1Rotate the dial clockw ise to select the
desired characters.

If you rotate the dial counterclockwise,
the characters appear in the reverse
order.
If you want to put a blank space
between characters, select “_” (under-
bar).
2Press (4) (n) after locating the
desired character.
The flashing cursor moves to the next
space.
If you press (1) (N), the flashing cursor
moves to the left.
3Repeat steps 1and 2to enter the
entire name.
4To return to normal radio reception,
press (LIST) for tw o seconds.
Tip
To erase or correct a name, ent er “ _” (under-bar)
for each charact er.
