You cannotchargethebatterypack while your camerais turnedon. Be sureto turn

0 Open the jack cover and connect the DC connecting cable to the
DC IN jack of your camera with the A mark facing up.
0 Connect the power cord (mains lead) to the AC power adaptor and
then to a wall outlet (wall socket).
Thebattery indicator 63 in the displaywindow flasheswhen charging
begins,Whenthebatteryindicator stopsflashing, normal charge is
completed.For full charge, which allows you to usethebattery longerthan
usual,leavethebatterypack insertedfor aboutonehour after normal chargeis
completeduntil thebatteryremaining indicator and“Full” is displayed
alternatelyin the displaywindow.
After charging the battery pack
Disconnectthe AC power adaptorfrom the DC IN jack of your camera.
Battery remaining indicator
The LCD screenon thecamerashowstheremaining time for which you canstill
recordor play back images.Whencharging,this showsanindication of the
continuousrecordingtime (with LCD screenON). This indication may notbe
entirely accuratedependingontheconditionsof useandtheoperatingenvironment.
Recommended charging temperature
Werecommendchargingthebatterypack in anambienttemperatureof between
10°Cto 30°C (50°F to 86°F).

NPFClO battery pack
Whenyou recordimagesin anextremely cold location or usingthe LCD screen,the
operatingtime becomesshort.Whenusing thecamerain anextremely cold location,
placethebatterypackin your pocket or otherplaceto keepit warm, theninsertthe
battery packinto thecamerajust beforerecording. Whenusing apocketheater,take
carenot to let theheaterdirectly contactthebattery.
Power save mode
When [POWER SAVE] in the SETUP screenis setto [ON], the battery life will be
extendedwhen recordingstill images.The factory settingis [OFF] (page81).
When [POWER SAVE] is [ON] (page 81)
l TheLCD screenturnsoff while the flashisbeingcharged(while the f flash charge
lamp is flashing*). Whenthe camerais turnedon for the first time after being left
unusedfor along period of time, the flash will takelongerthanusualto charge.
*If thechargingtime is short, the $ flashchargelampmay not light.
l Thetime from when you presstheshutterbutton until the imageis recordedis
slightly longerthanwhen [POWER SAVE] is [OFF].
l The focus is only alignedwhenthe shutterbutton is pressedhalfway, evenwhen
autofocusing is activated.

Setting the date and time
Whenyou first useyour camera,setthedateandtime. If thesearenot set,the
CLOCK SET screenwill appearwheneveryou turn on your camera.

Slide the cover in the direction of the arrow.

Insert the “Memory Stick” with the b mark facing toward the battery
compartment as illustrated until it clicks.

Removing the “Memory Stick”
Open the battery/“Memory Stick” cover, then press the “Memory Stick” once lightly.

Recording still images
Still imagesarerecordedin JPEGformat.
To record still images, press the POWER button to turn on the power and
insert a “Memory Stick.”
0 Set the mode dial to m or J.
@ Press and hold the shutter button halfway down.
The beepssound,but the imageis not recordedyet. While theAE/AF lock
indicator is flashing, thecameraautomatically adjuststhe exposureand
focusof the capturedimage.When thecamerafinishesthe automatic
adjustments,theAE/AF lock indicator z changesfrom flashingto lighted up*
andthe camerais readyfor recording.
If you releasethe shutterbutton, therecordingwill becanceled.
AE/AFlock indicator (green) flashes --, lights up
* If theflashing AEiAF lock indicator changesto flashing slowly, the subjectmaybe
difficult to focuson(dark,poorcontrast)or thesubjectmaybeextremelyclose.Release
theshutterbutton,thenfocusagain.

If you do not operatethe camerafor about three minutes during recording or
playback,thecameraturnsoff automaticallyto preventwearingdown thebattery.To
usethe camera again, press the POWER button to turn on the camera again. The auto
power-off function only operateswhenthecamerais operatingusingabatterypack.
The auto power-off function also will not operate when playing back moving Images
or playing back a slide show (page 68), or when a connector is plugged into the USB
jack, the DC IN jack or the A/V OUT jack.
