1 Preparing the battery pack
OInsert the battery pack into the battery charger.
0Connect the battery charger to the wall outlet (wall socket).
Tile CHARGE lamp lights up, and charging starts.
When tile CHARGE lamp turns otl, charging is finished (Nornlal charge).
If you continue charging tile ballery pack tot about one nlore hour (unli] it is fully charged), tile charge
will last slightly longer.
Charging time
• The table above shows the lime required to charge a lully depleted battery i?ack at a temperature of 25°C
(77°F). Charging may take longer depending on conditions of use and circumstmlces.
• See page 3(I lor the number of images that can be recorded.
• Connect lhe baltery charger 1othe nearest wall outlel (wall sockel).
• Even if the CHARGE lamp is nol lit, the batlery charger is not disconnected honl tile AC power source
(mains) as hmg as it is connected to tile wall outlel (wall socket). If some trouble occurs while using the

Stick Duo" in once.
Slide the battery eject lever.
Besure not to drop the battery
pack,

Shooting in Smile Shutter mode
When tile camera detects a smile, the shutter is released automatically.
_]_Select _ (Smile Shutter) mode from the mode dial.
0Press the shutter button all the way down to set Smile Detection mode.
The Smile Shutter enters standby.

Smile Detection Sensitivity indicator
This indicates the current smile level
When the smile level reaches the set Smile Detection Sensitivity (indicated by 41), the camera
automatically operates the shutter and records up to six images. After recording the image, the
Smile Shutter lamp lights.
0Press the shutter button all the way down again to exit the Smile Shutter
mode.
• When the Smile Slnn_er is in standby, tile Record lamp (Orange) fla',hes.
• Shooting using die Sndle Shutter ends aummaticully when either file "Memoly Stick Duo" or internal
memoly becomes hill or when six images ha_e been recorded.

• If a smile is not detected, _t tile [Smile Detection Sensitivity ] (page 24).
• You can have the camera shool the image automatically when any person displayed in the smile detection
tralnc (Orange) smiles after pressing the shutter button all tile way down.
• The inlage may not be in locus if the distance between the camera and file subject is changed alter pressing
tile shutter bumm all the way down, The suitable exposure may not be obtained if the surrounding
brighmess changes.
• Faces may nol be detected correctly when:
I1is too dark or too brigla.
Faces am partially hidden by sunglasses, masks, hals, etc.
The subjecls am not l,_cing tile camera.
• Smiles may nol be detected correctly depending on the condilions.
• You cannol use file Digital Zoom hmction.
• You cannol change the zoonl ralio when file Smile Shulter is in slandby,

Viewing/deletingimages
OPress [] (Playback).
If you plvss [] when timc_lmerais powered off, timcumera is turned on uutomatically lindset to
playback mode. To switchto the shooting mode, press [] again.
OSelect an image with 41/_.on the control button.
Movie:
Press • to play backa movie. (Press • again to stopplayback.)
Press • to last Ibrward, • to rewind. (Press• to return to normal playback.)
Press • to display tile volunle control screen, then press •/• to ac/iust tile volume.
_ To delete images
1Disph,y the image you want to delete, then press MENU.
2Select _ [Delete] with A/V and select [This Image] with "_/P". then press O.
3Select [OK] with A. then press Q.
_Q, To view an enlarged image (playback zoom)
Press _ while displaying astill image. To undo the zoom. press (_.
Adjust the position with A/V/4UP...
To cancel the playback zoom. press O.

_To view an index screen
Press {_ (htdex) to display the index screen while a still image is displayed.
Then, select nn im_lge with A/V/4/P.'.
To return to the single image screen, press O.
• You can also access lhe index screen by _lecting [_ hnage Index] in a (View hnages) on the HOME
screell.
• Each lime you press _ (Index), lhe number of images on the index screen increases,
To delete images in index mode
1Press MENIJ 'a hile the index screen is displa_ed.
2Select [Delete] with A/V and select [Multiple hnages] with ",_/_', then press Q
3Select the image you want tu delete with AIVI4II_. then press 0.
The _ mark is checked in the checkbox of tbe image.
To cancel a selection, select an image you have selected lk_r deletion, then press • again.
4Press MENU attd select [OK] with A, then press 0.
• To delete all the images in a Ik_lder, select [All In This Folder], then press • in step 2.
To play back a series of images with effects and music (Slideshow)
1Press _ (Slidesho'_) button.
The setup screen appears.
2Press _ /Slideshow) button again.
The music will change together with the [Effects]. Yuu can also transfer and change the music
tu your desired music.
To transfer and change the music, take the following steps.
@ Press HOME button. Then _lecl [Music Tool] _ [Download Music] in _ [Slideshow I (page 22),
@ [nslall the software included in the CD-ROM (supplied) l_ your computer,
@ Connect the camera and a computer wifll USB cable.
