UNPACKING
Due to modern mass production techniques, it is unlikely that your power tool is faulty or that a part is missing. If you nd
anything wrong, do not operate the tool until the parts have been replaced or the fault has been rectied. Failure to do
so could result in serious personal injury.
ASSEMBLY
This chain saw is packed assembled. Prior to initial operation of a new chain saw you have to assemble the guide bar
and chain, included in the kit, following the instructions below.
Introduction

and, with proper care, it will give you many years of dependable service.

Carefully read through these Original Instructions before using your new SPARKY power tool. Take special
care to heed the Warnings. Your SPARKY power tool has many features that will make your job faster and
easier. Safety, performance, and dependability have been given top priority in the development of this tool,
making it easy to maintain and operate.
Do not dispose of electric tools together with household waste!
Waste electrical products should not be disposed of with household waste. Please recycle where facilities
exist. Check with your local authority or retailer for recycling advice.

The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in accordance with a standardised test
given in EN 60745 and may be used to compare one tool with another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of
exposure.
The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for dif-
ferent applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may signi-
cantly increase the exposure level over the total working period.
An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched
off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may signicantly reduce the exposure level over the total
working period.
Maintain the power tool and the accessories and keep your hands warm during operation to reduce the harmful effect
of vibrations.
Dust from material such as paint containing lead, some wood species, minerals and metal may be harmful. Contact
with or inhalation of the dust may cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory diseases to the operator or bystanders.
Certain kinds of dust are classied as carcinogenic such as oak and beech dust especially in conjunction with additives
for wood conditioning (chromate, wood preservative). Material containing asbestos must only be treated by specialists.
The use of a dust mask of lter class P2 is recommended.

General power tool
safety warnings
WARNING! Read all safety warnings and
all instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and
instructions may result in electric shock, re and/or
serious injury.
Save all warnings and instructions for future
reference.
The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your
mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated
(cordless) power tool.
1. WORK AREA SAFETY
a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark
areas invite accidents.
b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmos-
pheres, such as in the presence of flammable
liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks
which may ignite the dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and bystanders away while operat-
ing a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
2. ELECTRICAL SAFETY
a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never
modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapt-
er plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Un-
modified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of
electric shock.
b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded
surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric
shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet condi-
tions. Water entering a power tool will increase the
risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for car-
rying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep
cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving
parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk
of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an
extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a
cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of elec-
tric shock.
f) If operating a power tool in a damp location is
unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD)
protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of
electric shock.
3. PERSONAL SAFETY
a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use
common sense when operating a power tool. Do
not use a power tool while you are tired or under
the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating power tools
may result in serious personal injury.
b) Use personal protective equipment. Always wear
eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust
mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing
protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce
personal injuries.
c) Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch
is in the off-position before connecting to power
source and/or battery pack, picking up or carry-
ing the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger
on the switch or energising power tools that have the
switch on invites accidents.
d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before
turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left
attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result
in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and bal-
ance at all times. This enables better control of the
power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves
away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery
or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust
extraction and collection facilities, ensure these
are connected and properly used. Use of dust col-
lection can reduce dust-related hazards.
4. POWER TOOL USE AND CARE
a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct pow-
er tool for your application. The correct power tool
will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it
was designed.
b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not
turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be
controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be
repaired.
c) Disconnect the plug from the power source and/
or the battery pack from the power tool before
making any adjustments, changing accessories,
or storing power tools. Such preventive safety
measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool
accidentally.
d) Store idle power tools out of the reach of children
and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the pow-
er tool or these instructions to operate the power
tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of un-
trained users.
e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or
binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and
any other condition that may affect the power
tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained power tools.
f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly main-
tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less
likely to bind and are easier to control.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc.
in accordance with these instructions, taking into
account the working conditions and the work to be
performed. Use of the power tool for operations dif-
ferent from those intended could result in a hazardous
situation.

5. SERVICE
a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical replacement
parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power
tool is maintained.
Chain saw safety warnings
▪Keep all parts of the body away from the saw
chain when the motor is operating. Before you
start the saw, make sure the saw chain is not con-
tacting anything. A moment of inattention while op-
erating chain saws may cause entanglement of your
clothing or body with the saw chain.
▪Always hold the chain saw with your right hand
on the rear handle and your left hand on the front
handle. Holding the chain saw with a reserved hand
configuration increases the risk of personal injury and
should never be done.
▪Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfac-
es only, because the saw chain may contact hid-
den wiring. Saw chains contacting a “live” wire may
make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and
could give the operator an electric shock.
▪Wear safety glasses and hearing protection. Fur-
ther protective equipment for head, hand, legs
and feet is recommend. Adequate protective cloth-
ing will reduce personal injury by flying debris or ac-
cidental contact with saw chain.
▪Do not operate a chain saw in a tree. Operation of
a chain saw in a tree, may result in personal injury.
▪Always keep proper footing and operate the chain
saw only when standing on fixed, secure and
level surface. Slippery or unstable surfaces such as
ladders may cause a loss of balance or control of the
chain saw.
▪When cutting a limb that is under tension be alert
for spring back. When the tension in the wood fibres
is released the spring loaded limb may strike the op-
erator and/or throw the chain saw out of control.
▪Use extreme caution when cutting brush and sap-
lings. The slender material may catch the saw chain
and be whipped toward you or pull you off balance.
▪Carry the chain saw by the front handle with the
saw chain stopped and the guide bar pointing to
the rear. When transporting or storing the chain
saw always fit the guide bar cover. Proper handling
of the chain saw will reduce the likelihood of acciden-
tal contact with the moving saw chain.
▪Follow instructions for lubricating, chain ten-
sioning and changing accessories. Improperly
tensioned or lubricated chain may either break or in-
crease the chance for kickback.
▪Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and
grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery causing
loss of control.
▪Cut wood only. Don’t use chain saw for purposes
not intended – for example – Don’t use chain saw
for cutting plastic, masonry or non-wood build-
ing materials. Use of the chain saw for operations
different then intended could result in a hazardous
situation.
Causes and operator prevention of kickback:
Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide
bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in and
pinches the saw chain in the cut.
Tip contact in some cases may cause a sudden reverse
reaction, kicking the guide bar up and back towards the
operator.
Pinching the saw chain along the top of the guide bar
may push the guide bar rapidly back towards the opera-
tor.
Either of these reactions may cause you to lose control of
the saw which could result in serious personal injury. Do
not rely exclusively upon the safety devices built into your
saw. As a chain saw user, you should take several steps
to keep your cutting jobs free from accident or injury.
Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect op-
erating procedures or conditions and can be avoided by
taking proper precautions as given below:
▪Maintain a rm grip, with thumbs and ngers en-
circling the chain saw handles, with both hands
on the saw and position your body and arm to al-
low you to resist kickback forces. Kickback forces
can be controlled by the operator, if proper precau-
tions are taken. Do not let go of the chain saw.

▪Do not over reach and do not cut above shoulder
height. This helps prevent unintended tip contact
and enables better control of the chain saw in un-
expected situations.
▪Only use replacement bars and chains specied
by the manufacturer. Incorrect replacement bars
and chains may cause chain breakage and/ or kick-
back.
▪Follow the manufacturer’s sharpening and main-
tenance instructions for the saw chain. Decreas-
ing the depth gauge height can lead to increased
kickback.
WARNING: Before connecting a tool to a
power source ensure that the voltage supply is the
same as that specied on the nameplate of the tool.
▪A power source with a voltage greater than that speci-
fied for the tool can result in serious injury to the user,
as well as damage to the tool.
▪If in doubt, do not plug in the tool.
▪Using a power source with a voltage less than the
nameplate rating is harmful to the motor.
▪Fully unwind cable drum extensions to avoid potential
overheating.
▪When an extension cable is required, you must en-

sure that it has the right ampere rating for your power
tool and it is in safe electrical condition.
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the
power tool prior to any adjustment, servicing or main-
tenance.
▪While operating the machine, always hold it firmly
with both hands and provide for a secure stance. The
power tool is guided more securely with both hands.
▪Always keep the cable away from the working area of
the power tool. Keep cable or extension cable away
from oil, sharp edges or heat sources.
▪Never use the machine with a damaged cable. Do
not touch the damaged cable and pull the mains plug
when the cable is damaged while operating. Dam-
aged cables increase the risk of electric shock.
▪Check regularly the cable and the extension cable.
In case of damage disconnect immediately the cable
from the mains. If the replacement of the cable is nec-
essary, this has to be done by the manufacturer or his
agent in order to avoid a safety hazard.
▪Always be sure you have a firm footing. Be sure no
one is below when using the tool in high locations.
▪Keep work area clean.
▪The tool must be used only for its prescribed purpose.
Any use other than those mentioned in this manual
will be considered a case of misuse. The user and not
the manufacturer shall be liable for any damage or in-
jury resulting from such cases of misuse.
▪To use this tool properly, you must observe the safety
regulations, the assembly instructions and the operat-
ing instructions found in this manual. All persons who
use and service the machine have to be acquainted
with this manual and must be informed about its po-
tential hazards.
▪Children and frail people must not use this power tool.
Children should be supervised at all times if they are
in the area in which the tool is being used. It is also
imperative that you observe the accident prevention
regulations in force in your area. The same applies for
general rules of occupational health and safety.
▪The manufacturer shall not be liable for any changes
made to the tool nor for any damage resulting from
such changes.
▪Do not operate the machine if the chain is damaged
or heavily worn out.
▪Switch off and unplug the machine and prior to: trans-
portation, conservation, inspection or maintenance.
▪Place the sheath on the guide bar when transporting
the chain saw or during storage.
▪Do not operate the machine in the presence of flam-
mable gases or liquids.
▪Carry the chain saw by the front handle with the guide
bar pointing forward.
▪Never carry the chain saw by the cable.
▪Familiarize with the chain saw capabilities and do not
attempt operations which might overload it.
▪Prior to performing a cut, check wood for presence
of extraneous objects (wedges, nails, pebbles, etc.).
▪In case the chain and/or guide bar jams: stop the ma-
chine, unplug the cable from mains, use non-metal
tool to release the chain without applying extensive
force.
▪It is recommended that the first time user should have
practical instruction in the use of the chain saw and
the protective equipment from an experienced opera-
tor and that the initial practice should be cutting logs
on a saw horse or cradle.
▪Power tools must not be used outdoors in rainy weath-
er, or in moist environment (after rain) or in close vicin-
ity with easily flammable liquids and gases. The work-
ing place should be well lit.

Kickback may occur when the nose or tip of the guide
bar touches an object, or when wood closes in and
pinches the chain in the cut.

SAFETY FEATURES
Numbers preceding the descriptions correspond with
the numbers on this page to help you locate the safety
feature.
1. Chain brake lever / Guard protects the operator’s
left hand in the event it slips off the front handle
while saw is running. Chain brake is a safety feature
designed to reduce the possibility of injury due to
kickback by stopping a moving saw chain in milli-
seconds. It is activated by the chain brake lever.
14. Spiked bumper is used for your personal safety
and ease of cutting. The spiked bumper will in-
crease your stability while performing vertical cut-
ting.
16. Low-kick-back chain helps signicantly reduce
kickback or the intensity of kickback, due to spe-
cially designed depth gauges and guard links.
21. Chain catcher reduces the danger of injury in the
event saw chain breaks or derails during operation.
The chain catcher is designed to intercept a whip-
ping chain.
Assembly instructions
WARNING: Do not connect the chain saw to
the mains until it is completely assembled.
WARNING: Always wear heavy duty gloves
when handling the chain.
Prior to initial operation your new chain saw will require
guide bar and chain assembly, side cover and lling the
oil tank with lubricating oil.
Read all instructions carefully. Do not install any other
size bar and chain than the recommended for your
model.
Accessories
The chain saw is delivered with the following accesso-
ries: (Fig.3)
- Guide bar; Saw chain; Guide bar sheath.
CHAIN AND GUIDE BAR ASSEMBLY
The chain saw is equipped with SDS system for con-
venient and quick guide bar assembly and adjusting the
chain tension. (Fig. 4a)
The wheel (10) adjusts the chain tension, and the locking
knob (11) tightens the guide bar and xes the side cover.
Rotate the wheel (10) upwards to tension, and down-
wards - to loosen the chain.
1. Unpack all parts carefully.
2. Place the chain saw on any suitable at surface.
3. Deactivate the chain brake. Ensure the chain brake
lever has been pulled back and released.
4. Unscrew anti-clockwise the locking knob (11) of
SDS system and remove the side cover (9). (Fig.4b)
5. Spread the chain in a loop with the cutting edges (A)
pointing in the direction of rotation, marked with an
arrow on the bar. Slide the chain in the bar groove
around the guide bar. Check that the chain is prop-
erly mounted in the correct direction of rotation.

6. Mount the guide bar onto the bar fastening bolt (20).
Fit the chain on the drive sprocket (19) and direct
the bar so that the bar fastening bolt (20) and the
two guide ns (B) t into the bar keyway. Rotate the
wheel (10) upwards to move the bolt (C) which push-
es the bar out, thus tensioning the chain enough to
prevent dropping the chain out of the bar groove.

7. Place the side cover, ensure the bar fastening bolt
(20) ts into the thread of the locking knob (11).
Screw the locking knob to tighten the side cover.
(Fig.4f)
8. The chain is not tensioned yet. Tensioning the chain
is described below.
TENSIONING THE CHAIN
Always check the chain tension before use, after the rst
cuts and regularly during use, approximately every 5
cuts. New saw chains stretch, requiring adjustment after
as few as 5 cuts. This is normal with a new chain, and
the interval between future adjustments will lengthen
quickly.
WARNING: Unplug the chain saw from power
source before adjusting the chain tension.
WARNING: Chain cutting edges are sharp. Al-
ways wear heavy duty gloves when handling saw chain
or making saw chain adjustments.
WARNING: Maintain proper chain tension
always. A loose chain increases the risk of kickback.
A loose chain may jump out of guide bar groove. This
may injure operator and damage chain. If the chain is
too loose or too tight, chain, bar and sprocket wear
rapidly.

WARNING: The chain life depends mainly
upon sufcient lubrication and correct tensioning.
WARNING: Avoid tensioning a hot chain, this
will cause over tensioning of the chain when it cools
down.
1. Place the chain saw on a suitable at surface. Ro-
tate the adjusting wheel (10) upwards until the chain
is tensioned. (Fig.5a)
2. Correct chain tension is achieved when the chain
can be raised approximately 2-3 mm from the guide
bar in its centre. This is performed by using one
hand to raise the chain against the weight of the ma-
chine. (Fig.5b)
3. When the chain loosens, rotate the wheel (10) up-
wards to tension the chain.
In cases where the loosened chain needs to be ad-
justed, always unscrew the adjustable outside ring
before adjusting the chain tensioning screw/knob;
adjust the tension and tighten the bar retaining knob
accordingly.
NOTE: If the chain rotates hardly on guide bar or if it
binds, too much tension has been applied. In this case
unwind the wheel (10) downwards and move the chain
back and forth until it starts to move smoothly.
NOTE: If the chain rotates hardly on guide bar

Check the tension regularly because the chain tends to
stretch with use (especially when the chain is new; after
the rst assembly, the chain tension must be checked
after 5 minutes machine operation); in any case do not
tighten the chain immediately after use, but wait until it
cools down.
CHAIN AND BAR LUBRICATION
WARNING: The chain saw is delivered with-
out oil in the tank. It is essential to ll the tank with oil
before use. Never operate the chain saw without oil or
under the minimum admissible oil tank level. This will
result in extensive damage to the machine.
WARNING: Never starve the bar and chain of
lubricating oil. Running the chain saw dry or with too
little oil will decrease cutting efciency, shorten chain
saw life, and cause premature chain dulling resulting in
excessive wear of the bar from overheating. The lack
of oil is evidenced by smoke and bar discolouration.
Adequate lubrication of the saw chain during cutting
operations is essential to minimize friction with the
guide bar. The chain saw is equipped with an automatic
oiler system. The oiler automatically delivers the proper
amount of oil to the bar and chain.
The oil tank holds 100 mI of oil, enough to lubricate the
chain for 15-20 minutes of cutting. Check oil level gauge
(12) prior to starting and regularly during operation. Rell
oil when oil level is lower than “MIN” marking.
Filling the oil tank (Fig.6)
1. Place the chain saw on any suitable surface with the
oil tank cap (13) facing upward.
2. Clean the area around the cap with a piece of cloth.
Unscrew the tank cap.
3. Add chain saw oil until the tank is full.
4. Avoid dirt and debris entering the tank. Fit the cap
and tighten it.
WARNING: To allow venting of the oil tank, small breath-
er channels are provided between the oil ller cap and
the strainer, to prevent leakage ensure that the machine
is left in a horizontal position (oil ller cap uppermost)
when not in use. It is important to use only the recom-
mended oil to avoid damage to the chain saw. The use of
recycled/old oil will invalidate the warranty.
CAUTION! The oil tank level should be frequently
checked during operation to avoid starving the bar and
chain of lubrication.
NOTE: Your chain saw is equipped with an automatic
oiler system and which is the only source of lubrication
for the bar and saw chain.
Hydraulic oil information
and safety requirements
during operation
Product name: Anti-wear hydraulic oil
General features: Liquids can be dissolved in oil.
Use: Anti-wear hydraulic oil can be used in equipment
for lubrication, cooling, air-proong, etc.
Potential health hazards:
There is sufcient evidence for carcinogenicity under
laboratory conditions. Under normal conditions of in-
tended use this product does not pose a risk to health.
Excessive exposure may result in eye, skin or respiratory
irritation.
First-aid measures:
Upon contact with eyes, ush them with water for 15 min-
utes. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.
Upon skin contact ush skin with water, and then wash
with soap and water. Get medical attention.
Inhalation of sprayed oil is harmful. Move the injured
person to fresh air and provide oxygen. Get medical at-
tention.
Harmful if swallowed. Wash hydraulic oil from your
mouth but do not induce vomiting. Get medical attention.
Notes to physician: Cure according to the symptoms.
Fire ghting measures:
Extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide, foam, dry chemi-
cals and water fog.

Combustion products: Fumes, smoke, carbon
monoxide,sulphur oxides, aldehydes and other decom-
position products in the case of incomplete combustion.
Forbidden media: Water.
Measures against accidental release:
Protective measures: Wear appropriate personal protec-
tion when cleaning up spills. For large spills use a pump
or a vacuum-truck and store in storage/salvage vessels.
For small spills soak up residue with an absorbent such
as clay, sand or other suitable material. Place in non-
leaking container and seal tightly for proper disposal.
Handling and storage:
Do not store in open or unlabeled containers. Store in
a cool, dry place with adequate ventilation. Keep away
from open ames and high temperature.
Empty used containers retain residue (liquid and/or va-
pour) and can be dangerous. It is forbidden to pressur-
ize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind or expose such
containers to heat and ames.
Exposure control / Personal protection:
Provide adequate ventilation to control airborne concen-
trations below the exposure guidelines/limits.
Wear appropriate respirator, chemical goggles, chemi-
cally resistant to this oil protective gloves, protective
clothing and shoes. Wash hands with water an use cos-

Operating instructions
This power tool is supplied from single-phase alternat-
ing current mains only. It is double in¬sulated according
to EN 60745-1 and IEC 60745 and can be connected
to grounded or not grounded sockets. This power tool
is radio suppressed in compliance with EMC Directive
2004/108/EC.
The chain saw is designed for cutting wood (trees,
planks, laths, etc.).
PRIOR TO INITIAL OPERATION
▪Make sure the power supply voltage corresponds to
the value indicated on the name plate with technical
data of the power tool.
▪Make sure that the cord and the plug are in order. If the
replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this has
to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.
WARNING: switch off and unplug the power
tool prior to any adjustment, servicing or maintenance.
▪In case the work area is remote from the power
source, use as short as practicable extension cord
with proper cross-section. (1,5 mm2for extension
cords shorter than 25 m; 2,5 mm2or extension cords
long 25 m to 40 m).
▪Use extension cords for outdoor use and marked
accordingly. Always fully unwind the extension cord
drum.
▪It is recommended when operating outdoors and in
premises with high humidity to use a residual current
device (RCD) with a tripping current not exceeding
30 mA.
STARTING THE CHAIN SAW
1. Make sure the safety chain brake lever (1) is disen-
gaged. The motor will not start if the chain brake is
in the engaged position. Disengage the chain brake
lever by pulling it backward toward the front handle
(Fig.7a)
An extension cord hook (7) is built-in the back han-
dle preventing extraction of the cord. To use this fea-
ture, simple double the extension cord, about 30 cm
from the end, and insert it into the hole of the handle.
Hook the loop formed by doubling the cord over the
cord hook. Gently tug on the cord to ensure that it
is rmly retained in the handle. Plug the receptacle
end of the extension cord into the tool power supply
cord. (Fig.8)
2. Grip the machine with both hands, left hand holding
the front handle (do not hold the chain brake) and
the right hand holding the rear handle. Press the
safety lock-off button (3), then fully press the switch
trigger (4) and hold in this position. The safety lock-
off button can be released now. (Fig.7b, 7c).
NOTE: It is not necessary to maintain pressure on the
lock-off button (3) once the switch trigger is squeezed
and the motor is running. The safety lock-off button (3) is
a safety device to avoid accidental starting.
STOPPING THE CHAIN SAW
The chain saw will stop automatically when the switch
trigger (4) is released. To restart the motor press the
safety lock-off button (3) and squeeze the switch trigger
(4).
CHAIN BRAKE FUNCTIONAL TEST
The chain brake is a safety mechanism actuated through
the front hand guard. When kickback occurs, chain stops
immediately.
The functional test should be carried out at regular in-
tervals to ensure it proper operation. The purpose of the
chain brake testing is to reduce the probability of injury
due to kickback.
Check the chain brake before starting to operate the
saw, after prolonged period of operation and always dur-
ing maintenance.
WARNING: If the chain and motor fail to stop
when the chain brake is engaged, take the saw to the
nearest authorized SPARKY service centre. Do not
use the saw with a faulty chain brake.

gaged. (Fig.9a)
2. Place the chain saw on any suitable at surface.
3. Plug the machine into the supply source.
4. Grasp the front handle with your left hand (do not
hold the chain brake). Thumb and ngers should
encircle the handle.
5. Grasp the rear handle with your right hand. Thumb
and ngers should encircle the handle;.

6. Press the safety lock-off button (3) with your right
thumb, then fully press the switch trigger (4) with
your index nger and hold it in this position.
7. While the motor is running, activate the chain brake
lever by rolling your left hand forward against the
chain brake lever. (Fig. 9b)
8. Chain and motor should stop immediately.
9. If the chain brake functions normally, switch off the
motor and return the chain brake in disengaged po-
sition.
NOTE: The motor will not start if the chain brake is in the
engaged position.
CAUTION! The chain brake should not be used for start-
ing and stopping the saw during normal operation.
General cutting instructions
KICKBACK (Fig. 2a)
Kickback is the sudden backward/upward motion of the
chain saw, occurring when the chain (at the tip of the
chain bar) comes in contact with a log or wood, or when
the chain becomes jammed.
When kickback occurs the chain saw reacts unpredict-
ably and can cause severe injuries to the operator or
bystanders.
Particular attention must be given when sawing side-
ward, slanted or during length cuts, as the spiked bump-
er (14) usually cannot be applied.
To avoid kickback:
- Saw with the chain bar at a at angle.
- Never work with a loose, widely stretched or the
heavily worn out chain.
- Ensure chain is sharpened correctly prior to opera-
tion.
- Never saw above shoulder height.
- Never work with the tip of the chain bar.
- Always hold the chain saw rmly with both hands.
- Always use a low-kickback chain.
- Apply the spiked bumper for leverage.
- Ensure correct chain tensioning.
GENERAL BEHAVIOR
Always hold the chain saw rmly with both hands, front
grip with the left hand and rear grip with the right hand.
Fully grip both handles at all times during operation. Nev-
er operate chain saw using only one hand.
Ensure power cord is located to the rear, away from
the chain and wood and so positioned that it will not be
caught on branches or the like during cutting.
Operate the chain saw only with secure footing. Hold the
chain saw at the right-hand side of your body. (Fig.10)
The chain must be running at full speed before it makes
contact with the wood. Use the spiked bumper to secure
the saw onto the wood before starting to cut. Use the
spiked bumper (14) as a leverage point while cutting.

Reset the spiked bumper at a lower point when sawing
thicker logs by pulling the chain saw slightly backwards
until the spiked bumper releases, and repositions at
lower level to continue sawing. Do not remove the saw
completely from the wood.
Do not force the chain while cutting, let the chain do the
work, using the spiked bumper to apply minimal leverage
pressure.
Do not operate the chain saw with arms fully extended
or attempt to saw areas which are difcult to reach, or
on a ladder. Never use the chain saw above shoulder
height. (Fig.11b)
Optimum results are achieved when the chain speed re-
mains steady during cutting.
Beware when reaching the end of the cut. The weight of
the saw in your arms may change unexpectedly as it cuts
free from the wood.
Always remove the saw from a wood cut while the saw
is running.
FELLING A TREE (Fig.12)
WARNING: Always wear a safety helmet
where there is a risk of falling objects..
WARNING: The chain saw can only be used
to fell trees smaller in diameter than the usable cutting
length of the chain bar.
WARNING: Prior to performing the felling cut
always re-check there are no bystanders, animals or
obstacles in the vicinity of the falling tree.
WARNING: Do not cut down a tree during
high or changing winds or if there is a danger to prop-
erty.
When bucking and felling operations are being per-
formed by two or more persons, at the same time, the
felling operations should be separated from the bucking
operation by a distance of at least twice the height of the
tree being felled. Trees should not be felled in a manner
that would endanger any person, strike any utility line or
cause any property damage. If the tree does make con-
tact with any utility line, the company should be notied
immediately.
The chain saw operator should keep on the uphill side
of the terrain as the tree is likely to roll or slide downhill
after it is felled.
An escape path ②. should be planned and cleared as
necessary before cuts are started. The escape path
should extend back and diagonally to the rear of the ex-
pected line of fall ③.
Before felling is started, consider the natural lean of the
tree, the location of larger branches and the wind direc-
tion to judge which way the tree will fall.
Remove dirt, stones, loose bark, nails staples, and wire
from the tree.
Small trees up to 15–18 cm in diameter are usually cut in
a single cut. Larger trees require notching cuts. Notching
cuts determine the direction the tree will fall.
Generally felling a tree consist of two basic operations,
notching undercut and felling back cut.

Notching undercut
Make the notch (X – W) 1/3 the diameter of the tree, per-
pendicular to the direction of fall. Make the lower hori-
zontal notching cut rst. This will help to avoid pinching
either the saw chain or the guide bar when the second
notch is being made.
Felling back cut
Make the felling back cut (Y) at least 50 mm higher than
the horizontal notching cut (X – W). Keep the felling back
cut parallel to the horizontal notching cut. Make the fell-
ing back cut so enough wood is left to act as a hinge. The
hinge wood keeps the tree from twisting and falling in the
wrong direction. Do not cut through the hinge.
As the felling gets close to the hinge the tree should be-
gin to fall.
If there is any chance that the tree may not fall in desired
direction or it may rock back and bind the saw chain, stop
cutting before the felling back cut is complete and use
wedges of wood, plastic or aluminium to open the cut
and drop the tree along the desired line of fall.
When the tree begins to fall remove the chain saw from
the cut, stop the motor, put the chain saw down, then use
the retreat path planned. Be alert for overhead limbs fall-
ing and watch your footing.
To complete the felling operation, drive a wedge (Z) into
the horizontal cut (Y).
Beware of falling branches when the tree starts to move.
LIMBING A TREE
Limbing is removing the branches from a fallen tree.
When limbing leave larger lower limbs to support the
log off the ground until after the log is bucked (cut) into
lengths. (Fig.13)
Branches under tension should be cut from the bottom
up to avoid binding the chain saw.
WARNING: Never cut tree limbs while stand-
ing on tree trunk.
BUCKING A LOG
Support logs before bucking. Saw wood only. Avoid con-
tact with stones, nails, etc. when sawing, as these could
be thrown up or cause damage to the chain or serious
injury to the operator or bystanders.
Keep a running chain saw clear of wire fencing or the
ground.
Length cuts must be carried out with care, as leverage
with the spiked bumper is not possible
Saw at at angle to avoid kickback.
1. Log supported along its entire length: Cut from
top (over buck), taking care to avoid cutting into the
ground (Fig.14а)
2. Log supported on one end: First, cut from bottom
(under buck) 1/3 diameter of log to avoid splintering.
Second, cut from above (over buck) to meet rst cut
and avoid pinching. (Fig. 14b)
3. Log supported on both ends: First, over buck 1/3
diameter of log to avoid splintering. Second, under
buck to meet rst cut and avoid pinching. (Fig. 14c)
4. When working on a slope, operate above or to the
side of the trunk or laying tree. Be careful not to trip
over tree stumps, branches, roots, etc.
CUTTING WOOD UNDER TENSION
There is a high risk of accidents when sawing wood,
branch or trees under tension.
Leave saw jobs like these to professionals ONLY.
Position and support the trunk as shown on the gure,
so that the cut does not close in, resulting in jamming or
pinching the chan. (Fig.15)
When sawing trunks/logs supported on both ends, start
the cut from above (A) about 1/3 of the diameter into the
log and then nish the cut (B) from below, in order to
avoid splitting of the log and/or jamming of the saw. Avoid
contact of the chain saw with the ground. When sawing
logs supported on only one end, start the cut from below
(B) about 1/3 of the diameter into the log and nish the
cut from above (B), in order to avoid log splitting and/or
jamming of the chain saw.
Maintenance
WARNING: Always switch off and unplug the
power tool prior to any inspection or maintenance. To
ensure product long life and safe operation, perform
the below described maintenance procedures regu-
larly.
WARNING: Always wear protective gloves
when handling the guide bar and chain.
Regularly check for obvious defects such as loose,
stretched or damaged chain and guide bar, loose xings
and worn or damaged components.
Check that covers and safety devices are undamaged
and correctly tted. Carry out necessary maintenance
before using the chain saw.
If the chain saw is faulty, repair should be carried out in
authorized SPARKY service centre.
NOTE: Before returning the chain saw to an authorized
service centre ensure that the oil tank has been emptied
completely.
REPLACING THE GUIDE BAR AND CHAIN
Fit the chain and guide bar as described above.
The guide bar groove wears with time.
The bar side contacting with the machine should be re-
versed periodically to ensure uniform wear.
Check the drive sprocket (19). If it has worn out or dam-
aged due to strain, have it replaced in SPARKY author-
ized service centre. If the chain has worn out or dam-
aged, have it replaced in SPARKY authorized service
centre.

BAR TIP SPROCKET LUBRICATION
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the chain in order
to lubricate the bar tip sprocket. Lubrication can be done
on the job.
Always clean the bar tip sprocket thoroughly prior opera-
tion.
Use a lube gun (not included in the kit) to lubricate the
bar tip sprocket.
Insert needle nose into the lubrication hole D and inject
oil until it appears at outside edge of sprocket. (Fig.16)
Ensure the chain brake is deactivated. Rotate the chain
by hand.
Repeat the above described procedure until the sprocket
is lubricated entirely.
CLEANING THE GUIDE BAR GROOVE
Remove side cover, bar and chain.
Using a bar-groove cleaner (not included in the kit) or a
screwdriver, putty knife, wire brush or other similar tools,
clean residue from the bar groove. This will keep the oil
passages open and provide proper lubrication to the bar
and chain. (Fig.17)
Reinstall the bar, chain (adjust tension) sprocket cover
and locking knob.
GUIDE BAR MAINTENANCE
Most guide bar problems can be prevented merely by
keeping the chain saw well maintained. Improper ling
and non-uniform cutter and depth gauge settings cause
most guide bar problems, resulting mainly in uneven bar
wear. As the bar wears unevenly, the rails widen, which
may cause chain clatter and difculty in making straight
cuts. Insufcient guide bar lubrication and operating the
saw with a chain this is too tight will contribute to rapid
bar wear. To help minimize bar wear, the following guide
bar maintenance is recommended.
OIL PASSAGES
Oil passages on the bar should be cleaned to ensure
proper lubrication of the bar and chain during operation.
For this purpose use a soft wire with appropriate diam-
eter.
NOTE: The condition of the oil passages can be easily
checked. If the passages are clear, the chain will auto-
matically give off a spray of oil within seconds of starting
the chain saw. Your chain saw is equipped with an auto-
matic oiler system.
CHAIN MAINTENANCE
WARNING: Unless you have experience and special-
ized training for dealing with kickback, always use a
low-kickback saw chain, which signicantly reduces the
danger of kickback. Low-kickback saw chains do not
completely eliminate kickback. Low-kickback or “safety”
chains, should never be regarded as total protection
against injury.
Always replace a worn out chain with a new low-kick-
back chain.
SHARPENING THE CHAIN
Chain sharpening requires special tools to ensure that
cutters are sharpened at the correct angle and depth.
For the inexperienced chain saw user, we recommend
that the saw chain be professionally sharpened in the
nearest SPARKY service centre. If you feel comfortable
sharpening your own saw chain, special tools are avail-
able from hardware stores.
Never saw with a blunt chain. A chain is considered blunt
when you have to push the chain saw into wood and the
chips are very ne (sawdust).
The height difference between the tooth A and the ridge
B is the cutting depth. When sharpening the chain you
have to consider the next points: (Fig. 18a, 18b)
- Filing angle;
- Cutting angle;
- File position;
- Round le diameter;
- Filing depth.
For correct sharpening of the chain you need good tools;
for example a round le and mould. Consult a profes-
sional at the hardware store.
WARNING: The risk of kickback increases if:
- sharpening angle is too large;
- cutting angle is too small;
- round le diameter is too small.
Check if the chain is properly tensioned prior to start
sharpening.
Engage the chain brake to lock the chain on the bar.
Use a round le with diameter 1,1 times the cutting tooth
depth.
Always le from the inside of the tooth to the outside.
First le all teeth on one side, then turn round the chain
saw and le the teeth on the other side.
File at angle perpendicular to the bar and at 38o to the
travelling direction.
After sharpening, the cutting links must all have the same
width and length.
When the length of the teeth is only 4mm, the chain is
worn and should be replaced. (Fig. 18c)
STORAGE
▪Empty the oil tank after you have completed work!
▪When storing the machine in its original packaging the
oil tank must be completely emptied.
▪To prevent leakage lay the machine down horizontally
(with the oil tank cap facing upwards).
▪Clean the machine with a soft brush or dry cloth with-
out using solvent.
▪Store in a secure, dry place out of the reach of chil-
dren.
▪When storing the machine for long periods remove
the guide bar and the chain and store them well lu-
bricated.
GENERAL INSPECTION
Regularly inspect all fasteners and ensure they are
properly tightened. Should any of the screws be loose,
retighten it immediately to avoid hazards.
If the replacement of the supply cord is necessary, this
has to be done by the manufacturer or his agent in order
to avoid a safety hazard.

BRUSH REPLACEMENT
When the carbon brushes are worn out, both brushes
must be replaced simultaneously with genuine brushes
at SPARKY service centre for warranty and post-war-
ranty service.
CLEANING
For safe operation always keep the machine and its ven-
tilation slots clean.
Regularly check to see if any dust or foreign matter has
entered the ventilation slots and the grills around the
switches. Use a soft brush and/or air jet to remove any
accumulated dust. Wear safety glasses to protect your
eyes whilst cleaning.
Exterior plastic parts may be cleaned with a damp cloth
and mild detergent if necessary.
WARNING: Never use alcohol, petrol or other
cleaning agent. Never use caustic agents to clean
plastic parts.
WARNING: Water must never come into con-
tact with the tool.
IMPORTANT! To assure product safety and reliability,
repairs, maintenance and adjustment (including brush
inspection and replacement) should be performed by
SPARKY certied service centres, always using genu-
ine replacement parts.
Warranty
The guarantee period for SPARKY power tools is deter-
mined in the guarantee card.
Faults due to normal wear, overloading or improper han-
dling will be excluded from the guarantee.
Faults due to defective materials implemented as well as
defects in workmanship will be corrected free of charge
through replacement or repair.
The complaints for defective SPARKY power tools will
be recognized if the machine is sent back to the dealer
or is presented to the authorised warranty service centre
undismantled, in its initial condition.

Der in diesen Anweisungen angegebene Schwingungspegel ist entsprechend einem in EN 60745 genormten Messver-
fahren gemessen worden und kann für den Vergleich von Elektrowerkzeugen miteinander verwendet werden. Er eignet
sich auch für eine vorläuge Einschätzung der Schwingungsbelastung.
Der angegebene Schwingungspegel repräsentiert die hauptsächlichen Anwendungen des Elektrowerkzeugs. Wenn
allerdings das Elektrowerkzeug für andere Anwendungen, mit abweichenden Einsatzwerkzeugen oder ungenügender
Wartung eingesetzt wird, kann der Schwingungspegel abweichen. Dies kann die Schwingungsbelastung über den
gesamten Arbeitszeitraum deutlich erhöhen.
Für eine genaue Abschätzung der Schwingungsbelastung sollten auch die Zeiten berücksichtigt werden, in denen das
Gerät abgeschaltet ist oder zwar läuft, aber nicht tatsächlich im Einsatz ist. Dies kann die Schwingungsbelastung über

Sicherheitshinweise
für Elektrowerkzeuge
WARNUNG! Lesen Sie alle Sicherheits-
hinweise und Anweisungen. Versäumnisse bei der
Einhaltung der Sicherheitshinweise und Anweisungen
können elektrischen Schlag, Brand und/oder schwere
Verletzungen verursachen.
Bewahren Sie alle Sicherheitshinweise und
Anweisungen für die Zukunft auf.
Der in den Sicherheitshinweisen verwendete Begriff
„Elektrowerkzeug“ bezieht sich auf netzbetriebene Elek-
trowerkzeuge (mit Netzkabel) und auf akkubetriebene
Elektrowerkzeuge (ohne Netzkabel).
1. ARBEITSPLATZSICHERHEIT
a) Halten Sie Ihren Arbeitsbereich sauber und gut
beleuchtet. Unordnung oder unbeleuchtete Arbeits-
bereiche können zu Unfällen führen.
b) Arbeiten Sie mit dem Elektrowerkzeug nicht in
explosionsgefährdeter Umgebung, in der sich
brennbare Flüssigkeiten, Gase oder Stäube be-
finden. Elektrowerkzeuge erzeugen Funken, die den
Staub oder die Dämpfe entzünden können.
c) Halten Sie Kinder und andere Personen während
der Benutzung des Elektrowerkzeugs fern. Bei
Ablenkung können Sie die Kontrolle über das Gerät
verlieren.
2. ELEKTRISCHE SICHERHEIT
a) Der Anschlussstecker des Elektrowerkzeuges
muss in die Steckdose passen. Der Stecker darf
in keiner Weise verändert werden. Verwenden Sie
keine Adapterstecker gemeinsam mit schutzge-
erdeten Elektrowerkzeugen. Unveränderte Stecker
und passende Steckdosen verringern das Risiko ei-
nes elektrischen Schlages.
b) Vermeiden Sie Körperkontakt mit geerdeten
Oberflächen wie von Rohren, Heizungen, Herden
und Kühlschränken. Es besteht ein erhöhtes Risiko
durch elektrischen Schlag, wenn Ihr Körper geerdet
ist.
c) Halten Sie Elektrowerkzeuge von Regen oder
Nässe fern. Das Eindringen von Wasser in ein Elek-
trowerkzeug erhöht das Risiko eines elektrischen
Schlages.
d) Zweckentfremden Sie das Kabel nicht, um das
Elektrowerkzeug zu tragen, aufzuhängen oder
um den Stecker aus der Steckdose zu ziehen.
Halten Sie das Kabel fern von Hitze, Öl, scharfen
Kanten oder sich bewegenden Geräteteilen. Be-
schädigte oder verwickelte Kabel erhöhen das Risiko
eines elektrischen Schlages.
e) Wenn Sie mit einem Elektrowerkzeug im Freien
arbeiten, verwenden Sie nur Verlängerungska-
bel, die auch für den Außenbereich geeignet sind.
Die Anwendung eines für den Außenbereich geeigne-
ten Verlängerungskabels verringert das Risiko eines
elektrischen Schlages.
f) Wenn der Betrieb des Elektrowerkzeuges in
feuchter Umgebung nicht vermeidbar ist, ver-
wenden Sie einen Fehlerstromschutzschalter.
Der Einsatz eines Fehlerstromschutzschalters ver-
mindert das Risiko eines elektrischen Schlages.
3. SICHERHEIT VON PERSONEN
a) Seien Sie aufmerksam, achten Sie darauf, was
Sie tun, und gehen Sie mit Vernunft an die Arbeit
mit einem Elektrowerkzeug. Benutzen Sie kein
Elektrowerkzeug, wenn Sie müde sind oder un-
ter dem Einfluss von Drogen, Alkohol oder Medi-
kamenten stehen. Ein Moment der Unachtsamkeit
beim Gebrauch des Elektrowerkzeuges kann zu
ernsthaften Verletzungen führen.
b) Tragen Sie persönliche Schutzausrüstung und
immer eine Schutzbrille. Das Tragen persönlicher
Schutzausrüstung, wie Staubmaske, rutschfeste Si-
cherheitsschuhe, Schutzhelm oder Gehörschutz, je
nach Art und Einsatz des Elektrowerkzeuges, verrin-
gert das Risiko von Verletzungen.
c) Vermeiden Sie eine unbeabsichtigte Inbetrieb-
nahme. Vergewissern Sie sich, dass das Elekt-
rowerkzeug ausgeschaltet ist, bevor Sie es an
die Stromversorgung und/oder den Akku an-
schließen, es aufnehmen oder tragen. Wenn Sie
beim Tragen des Elektrowerkzeuges den Finger am
Schalter haben oder das Gerät eingeschaltet an die
Stromversorgung anschließen, kann dies zu Unfällen
führen.
d) Entfernen Sie Einstellwerkzeuge oder Schrau-
benschlüssel, bevor Sie das Elektrowerkzeug
einschalten. Ein Werkzeug oder Schlüssel, der sich
in einem drehenden Geräteteil befindet, kann zu Ver-
letzungen führen.
e) Vermeiden Sie eine abnormale Körperhaltung.
Sorgen Sie für einen sicheren Stand und halten
Sie jederzeit das Gleichgewicht. Dadurch können
Sie das Elektrowerkzeug in unerwarteten Situationen
besser kontrollieren.
f) Tragen Sie geeignete Kleidung. Tragen Sie keine
weite Kleidung oder Schmuck. Halten Sie Haare,
Kleidung und Handschuhe fern von sich bewe-
genden Teilen. Lockere Kleidung, Schmuck oder
lange Haare können von sich bewegenden Teilen
erfasst werden.
g) Wenn Staubabsaug- und -auffangeinrichtungen
montiert werden können, vergewissern Sie sich,
dass diese angeschlossen sind und richtig ver-
wendet werden. Verwendung einer Staubabsau-
gung kann Gefährdungen durch Staub verringern.
4. VERWENDUNG UND BEHANDLUNG
DES ELEKTROWERKZEUGES
a) Überlasten Sie das Gerät nicht. Verwenden Sie
für Ihre Arbeit das dafür bestimmte Elektrowerk-
zeug. Mit dem passenden Elektrowerkzeug arbeiten
Sie besser und sicherer im angegebenen Leistungs-
bereich.
b) Benutzen Sie kein Elektrowerkzeug, dessen
Schalter defekt ist. Ein Elektrowerkzeug, das sich
nicht mehr ein- oder ausschalten lässt, ist gefährlich

und muss repariert werden.
c) Ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der Steckdose und/
oder entfernen Sie den Akku, bevor Sie Geräte-
einstellungen vornehmen, Zubehörteile wech-
seln oder das Gerät weglegen. Diese Vorsichts-
maßnahme verhindert den unbeabsichtigten Start
des Elektrowerkzeuges.
d) Bewahren Sie unbenutzte Elektrowerkzeuge au-
ßerhalb der Reichweite von Kindern auf. Lassen
Sie Personen das Gerät nicht benutzen, die mit
diesem nicht vertraut sind oder diese Anweisun-
gen nicht gelesen haben. Elektrowerkzeuge sind
gefährlich, wenn Sie von unerfahrenen Personen be-
nutzt werden.
e) Pflegen Sie Elektrowerkzeuge mit Sorgfalt. Kon-
trollieren Sie, ob bewegliche Teile einwandfrei
funktionieren und nicht klemmen, ob Teile gebro-
chen oder so beschädigt sind, dass die Funktion
des Elektrowerkzeuges beeinträchtigt ist. Las-
sen Sie beschädigte Teile vor dem Einsatz des
Gerätes reparieren. Viele Unfälle haben ihre Ursa-
che in schlecht gewarteten Elektrowerkzeugen.
f) Halten Sie Schneidwerkzeuge scharf und sauber.
Sorgfältig gepflegte Schneidwerkzeuge mit scharfen
Schneidkanten verklemmen sich weniger und sind
leichter zu führen.
g) Verwenden Sie Elektrowerkzeug, Zubehör,
Einsatzwerkzeuge usw. entsprechend diesen
Anweisungen. Berücksichtigen Sie dabei die
Arbeitsbedingungen und die auszuführende Tä-
tigkeit. Der Gebrauch von Elektrowerkzeugen für
andere als die vorgesehenen Anwendungen kann zu
gefährlichen Situationen führen.
5. SERVICE
a) Lassen Sie Ihr Elektrowerkzeug nur von qua-
lifiziertem Fachpersonal und nur mit Original-
Ersatzteilen reparieren. Damit wird sichergestellt,
dass die Sicherheit des Elektrowerkzeuges erhalten
bleibt.
Zusätzliche Hinweise bei
der Arbeit mit Kettensägen
▪Halten Sie bei laufender Säge alle Körperteile
von der Sägekette fern. Vergewissern Sie sich
vor dem Starten der Säge, dass die Sägekette
nichts berührt. Beim Arbeiten mit einer Kettensäge
kann ein Moment der Unachtsamkeit dazu führen,
dass Bekleidung oder Körperteile von der Sägekette
erfasst werden.
▪Halten Sie die Kettensäge immer mit Ihrer rech-
ten Hand am hinteren Griff und Ihrer linken Hand
am vorderen Griff. Das Festhalten der Kettensäge
in umgekehrter Arbeitshaltung erhöht das Risiko von
Verletzungen und darf nicht angewendet werden.
▪Das Gerät beim Arbeiten immer an den vorgese-
henen, isolierten Griffflächen festhalten, denn
die Kette kann unsichtbare elektrische Leitungen
oder das eigene Stromkabel durchtrennen oder
beschädigen. Der Kontakt der Sägekette mit strom-
führenden Leitungen setzt die metallischen Teile der
Maschine unter Spannung und der Bediener kann ei-
nen Stromschlag erleiden.
▪Tragen Sie Schutzbrille- und Gehörschutz. Weite-
re Schutzausrüstung für Kopf, Hände, Beine und
Füße wird empfohlen. Passende Schutzkleidung
mindert die Verletzungsgefahr durch umherfliegen-
des Spanmaterial und zufälliges Berühren der Säge-
kette.
▪Arbeiten Sie mit der Kettensäge nicht auf einem
Baum. Bei Betrieb auf einem Baum besteht Verlet-
zungsgefahr für den Bediener.
▪Achten Sie immer auf festen Stand und benutzen
Sie die Kettensäge nur, wenn Sie auf festem, si-
cherem und ebenem Grund stehen. Rutschiger
Untergrund oder instabile Standflächen wie auf einer
Leiter können zum Verlust des Gleichgewichts oder
zum Verlust der Kontrolle über die Kettensäge führen.
▪Rechnen Sie beim Schneiden eines unter Span-
nung stehenden Astes damit, dass dieser zu-
rückfedert. Wenn die Spannung in den Holzfasern
freikommt, kann der gespannte Ast die Bedienperson
treffen und/oder die Kettensäge der Kontrolle entrei-
ßen.
▪Seien Sie besonders vorsichtig beim Schneiden
von Unterholz und jungen Bäumen. Das dünne
Material kann sich in der Sägekette verfangen und
auf Sie schlagen oder Sie aus dem Gleichgewicht
bringen.
▪Tragen Sie die Kettensäge am vorderen Griff im
ausgeschalteten Zustand, die Sägekette von
Ihrem Körper abgewandt. Bei Transport oder
Aufbewahrung der Kettensäge stets die Schutz-
abdeckung aufziehen. Sorgfältiger Umgang mit der
Kettensäge verringert die Wahrscheinlichkeit einer
versehentlichen Berührung mit der laufenden Säge-
kette.
▪Befolgen Sie die Anweisungen für die Schmie-
rung, die Kettenspannung und das Wechseln
von Zubehör genauestens. Eine unsachgemäß ge-
spannte oder geschmierte Sägekette kann entweder
reißen oder das Rückschlagrisiko erhöhen.
▪Halten Sie die Griffe trocken, sauber und frei von
Öl und Fett. Fettige, ölige Griffe sind rutschig und
führen zum Verlust der Kontrolle.
▪Nur Holz sägen. Die Kettensäge nicht für Arbeiten
verwenden, für die sie nicht bestimmt ist – Bei-
spiel: Verwenden Sie die Kettensäge nicht zum
Sägen von Plastik, Mauerwerk oder Baumateria-
lien, die nicht aus Holz sind. Die Verwendung der
Kettensäge für nicht bestimmungsgemäße Arbeiten
kann zu gefährlichen Situationen führen.
Ursachen und Vermeidung eines Rückschlags:
Ein Rückschlag kann auftreten, wenn die Spitze der
Führungsschiene einen Gegenstand berührt oder wenn
Holz sich biegt und die Sägekette im Schnitt festklemmt.
Eine Berührung mit der Schienenspitze kann in man-
chen Fällen zu einer unerwarteten nach hinten gerichte-
ten Reaktion führen, bei der die Führungsschiene nach
oben und in Richtung der Bedienperson geschlagen
wird.
Das Verklemmen der Sägekette an der Oberkante der
Führungsschiene kann die Schiene heftig in Bediener-
