Safe use of the tool is only possible if the user had studied the instruction
manual and safety instructions completely and is strictly following the
instructions contained therein.

If the mains cable gets damaged or cut during the use, do not touch it, but instantly pull
the plug out of the socket. Never use the tool with damaged mains cable.
Prior to drilling in walls and ceilings, check them for hidden cables, gas and water pipes
and other media.
Check the working area, e.g. using a metal detector.
Prior to the start of your work, consult a statics specialist to determine the exact drilling
position.
If drilling through ceilings, secure the place below, because the may fall downward.
The tool must neither be wet nor used in humid environment.
ŹDo not use the tool in an environment with danger of explosion.
ŹDo not use the tool standing on a ladder.
ŹDo not drill into asbestos-containing materials.
ŹDo not carry the tool at its cable, and always check the tool, cable and plug before
use. Have damages only repaired by specialists. Insert the plug into the socket only
when the tool switch is off.

ŹUnplug the tool and make sure that the switch is off if the tool is not under
supervision, e.g. during preparation and take-down works, at power failures, for
insertion or mounting accessories.

condition.
ŹDo not use the tool it its shell, switch, cable or plug are damaged.
ŹAlways lead the mains and extension cables as well as the dedusting hose from
the tool to the back.

ŹPersons under 16 years are not allowed to use the tool.

goggles, helmets, ear protectors, dust mask, protective cloves and boots.
ŹDuring manual operation, always hold the tool with both hands and be fall-safe.
Consider the tool’s reaction torque in case of blocking.
ŹAlways work with concentration. Always work in a carefully considered way and do
not use the tool if you are lacking consideration.
ŹDuring manual operation, work with a special circumspection when dry drilling with
dimensions between 100 and 200 mm !

Noise and vibration
The indication of noise emission is measured after DIN 45 635, part 21.
The level of acoustic pressure on work site could exceed 85 dB (A); in this case
protection means must be used.
The typical hand-arm vibration is below 2.5 m/s².
Measured values determined according to EN 60 745.
The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. How
ever if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly

FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
Electrical connection
The SD 16E is designed according to protective class II.
Prior to putting the tool into operation, check the mains voltage for conformity with the
requirements of the tool’s nameplate.
Voltage variations between + 6 % and – 10 % are permissible.
The tool includes a start-up speed limiter to prevent fast expulsion fuses from
unindented responding.

Switching ON and OFF
Short-time operation
ON: Press the ON/OFF switch
OFF: Release the ON/OFF switch
Long-time operation
ON: Keeping the ON/Of switch pressed, push in the arrestor button.
OFF: Press and release the ON/OFF switch again.
Attention!
Use the switch lock button only during operation with drill rig. Its use during
manual operation is not allowed.
If the machine stops for any reason or due to power failure, immediately release
the switch lock button by pressing the ON/OFF switch.
The SD 16E is equipped with an electronic switch. With this switch the speed can be
regulated according to the pressure on the button. Only use the electronic switch when
you want to start or stop the machine in order to avoid material splashing around.
A permanent use with reduced speed can cause an overload because the motor then
gets less cooling air and therefore the machine will be overheated much faster.
Front Handle
For manual drilling, the SD 16E may be used only together with its front handle which

counterclockwise rotation.
HOW TO USE THE TOOL
Advices for pre-drilling marking
For the smooth spot drilling it is recommended to use drill bits with integrable
centering drill. The trigger switch is enabling a slow spot drilling, during which the drill
bit should penetrate the material about 5-10 mm. After the removing of the centering
drill the drill bit have to be inserted slowly into the existing bore hole and have to be
brought to the full nominal speed by pressing through the switch.

Engaging and disengaging of the percussion
The machine is equipped with a mechanical soft percussion which can be activated or
desactivated as follows:
For engaging or disengaging the soft percussion,
the adjusting ring must be turned a ¼ turn.

Dust extraction
Dust which occurs during your work is hazardous to health. That is why it is advisable
to use a and to wear a dust mask on dry drilling. Convenient for the SD 16E we offer
a dust exhausts, which are enabling the direct use of drill bits with M16 thread and
Spit SDD connection.
Our suitable wet/dry vacuum cleaners AC 1625 or AC 1630P/M are available as add-on.
The use of a dust pick-up system is also a prerequisite for optimal cutting performance
of the bit (air cooling). For the selection of the appropriate drill bits for different materials

Overload protection
To protect the user, motor and drill bit, the SD 16E is equipped with a mechanical,
electrical and thermal overload protection.
Mechanical:
In case of sudden jamming of the drill bit, the drilling spindle is unclutched from the
motor by means of a slip clutch.
Electrical:
In case of overload due to too large feed force, the electronic will cut OFF the machine.
After discharge and switching ON you can continue drilling again.
Thermal:
In case of permanent overload, a thermocouple protects the motor against destruction.
In that case, the tool switches off and can only be restarted after a certain cooling-down
period (approx. 2 minutes). The cooling-down time depends on the temperature of the
motor winding and ambient temperature.
Safety clutch
The slip clutch served for compensation of shocks and overload.
To keep its functionability, it should not slip for more than 2 seconds. In case of
excessive wearing, it can be replaced by an authorized service centre.
Dust protection
Dust from material such as paint containing lead, some wood species, minerals and
metal may be harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust may cause allergic
reactions and/or respiratory diseases to the operator or bystanders.

MAINTENANCE
Before the beginning of the maintenance- or repair works you have to disconnect
plug from the mains.
It is a must to unplug the tool before starting any service or repair works.

After every repair, the unit has to be checked by an electrical specialist.
According to its design, the tool requires a minimum of care and maintenance.
However, the following maintenance works and component checks have to be
performed in regular intervals:
ŹClean the tool after completion of your work. Apply some grease onto the drilling
spindle thread. The ventilation slots must always be clean and unclogged.
Make sure that now water gets into the tool during cleaning.
ŹAfter approx. 250 hours of operation, the carbon brushes must be checked and,
if necessary, be replaced by an authorized specialist (use only original carbon
brushes).
ŹOnce per quarter of a year, an electrical specialist should check the switch, cable
and plug.

Mise SOUS et HORS tension
Fonctionnement de courte durée
Mettre SOUS tension : Appuyez sur l’interrupteur marche/arrêt
Mettre HORS tension : Relâchez l’interrupteur marche/arrêt
Fonctionnement de longue durée
Mettre SOUS tension : Maintenez l’interrupteur marche/arrêt enfoncé, appuyez sur le bouton
d’arrêt.
Mettre HORS tension : Appuyez et relâchez de nouveau l’interrupteur marche/arrêt.
Attention !
Utilisez le bouton de verrouillage de l’interrupteur uniquement lors du fonctionnement
avec l’appareil de forage. Son utilisation en mode de fonctionnement manuel n’est pas
autorisée.
Si la machine s’arrête pour une raison quelconque ou en cas de panne de courant,
relâchez immédiatement le bouton de verrouillage de l’interrupteur en appuyant sur
l’interrupteur marche/arrêt.
Le SD 16E est équipé d’un interrupteur électronique. Cet interrupteur permet de réguler la vitesse

COMMENT UTILISER L’OUTIL
Conseils pour le marquage préalable au perçage
Pour un perçage par points sans à-coups, il est recommandé d’utiliser des forets avec une
perceuse de centrage intégrable. Le déclencheur permet un perçage par points lent au cours
duquel le foret doit pénétrer dans le matériau sur environ 5 à 10 mm. Après avoir retiré la
perceuse de centrage, le foret doit être inséré lentement dans l’alésage existant et doit être
amené à la pleine vitesse nominale en appuyant sur l’interrupteur.

Engagement et désengagement de la percussion
La machine est équipée d’une percussion mécanique douce qui peut être activée ou
désactivée comme suit :
Pour engager ou désengager la percussion douce, la
bague de réglage doit être tournée d’un ¼ de tour.
Extraction de poussière
La poussière qui est dégagée pendant votre travail est dangereuse pour la santé. C’est
pourquoi il est conseillé d’utiliser et de porter un masque anti-poussière pendant le perçage
à sec. Nous proposons des aspirateurs de poussière pour le SD 16E. Très pratiques, ils

L’utilisation d’un système de récupération de poussière est également une condition préalable
à des performances de découpe optimales du foret (refroidissement de l’air). Pour la sélection
des forets appropriés pour différents matériaux, veuillez prêter une attention particulière aux

Protection contre les surcharges
Pour protéger l’utilisateur, le moteur et le foret, le SD 16E est équipé d’une protection contre
les surcharges mécanique, électrique et thermique.
Mécanique :
En cas de blocage soudain du foret, la broche de perçage est débrayée du moteur au moyen
d’un limiteur de couple.
Électrique :
En cas de surcharge due à une trop grande force d’alimentation, la protection électronique
coupera la machine.
Après décharge et mise sous tension, vous pouvez continuer à percer à nouveau.
Thermique :
En cas de surcharge permanente, un thermocouple protège le moteur contre la destruction.
Dans ce cas, l’outil s’éteint et peut uniquement être redémarré après une certaine période de
refroidissement (environ 2 minutes). La durée de refroidissement dépend de la température
de l’enroulement du moteur et de la température ambiante.
Embrayage de sécurité
Le limiteur de couple est employé pour la compensation des chocs et des surcharges.
Pour maintenir sa fonctionnalité, il ne doit pas glisser pendant plus de 2 secondes. En cas
d’usure excessive, il peut être remplacé par un centre de réparation agréé.
Protection contre la poussière
La poussière produite par des matériaux tels que la peinture à base de plomb, certaines
espèces de bois, les minéraux et les métaux peut être dangereuse. Tout contact avec la
poussière ou toute inhalation de celle-ci peut provoquer des réactions allergiques et/ou des
maladies respiratoires chez l’opérateur ou les personnes se trouvant à proximité.
Certains types de poussière sont classés comme cancérogènes, comme par exemple la
poussière de chêne et de hêtre, plus particulièrement en conjonction avec des additifs pour
le conditionnement du bois (chromate, produit de préservation du bois). Les matériaux
contenant de l’amiante doivent uniquement être traités par des spécialistes.
