Installation
Notes:
• You may need to restart your computer during the software
installation process. Be sure to save any unsaved material before
you install the software.
• If you’re running Windows 7 (or lower) macOS, or Linux, ensure
the network adapter is not connected to your computer until after
driver installation.
1. If you’re running Windows 7 (or lower), macOS or Linux, download
the latest software from the StarTech.com website,
http://www.StarTech.com/US100A20FXSC.
Note: If you’re running Windows 8 (or later) proceed to step 5.
2. The software that corresponds with your operating system will be
compressed in a .zip folder. Download and extract the contents
of that folder to a location on your computer that’s easy to access,
such as your Desktop or Downloads folder.
Note: Ensure the USB network adapter is not connected to your
computer.
3. Open the folder that corresponds with your specic operating
system and launch the installer le.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation, and if
instructed to do so, restart your computer.
5. Connect an SC ber cable to the network adapter’s Fiber optic SC
port and to your ber network.
6. Connect the built-in USB 2.0 cable to a USB port on your
computer.
About the LED indicators
The network adapter features two LED indicators:
• The Power LED illuminates to indicate that the adapter is receiving
power from the computer that it’s connected to.
• The Link and activity LED illuminates solid to indicate a network
connection link and blinks to indicate that data is being sent or
received.
