Safety and Installation Instructions
Lo ation of your Barbe ue
Most importantly, this is an outdoor applian e. Ensure your barbe ue is positioned safely
away from anything that an at h fire.
Under no ir umstan e is this barbe ue to be used indoors. This in ludes garages or
any other en losed area.
Clearan e from Combustibles: Ensure your barbe ue remains at a distan e of at least
18” from any ombustible material su h as wood, gypro k, paper and plants. Do not store
ombustible materials, gasoline or flammable liquids or vapors within 18” of the barbe ue.
Adequate Ventilation: Ensure there is adequate ventilation for both the barbe ue and
ylinder. This is required not only for proper ombustion, but also to prevent gas build up.
Firm Level Surfa e: Use your barbe ue only on a firm level surfa e. This barbe ue is not
designed for re reational vehi les, and should not be installed on a boat or marine raft.
Prote tion from Weather: Keep the barbe ue prote ted from adverse weather, in luding
rain and high winds. Polyvinyl overs are available that have been spe ially designed for
this range of barbe ues.
Allow lear a ess to the entire gas supply hose and regulator.
Paradise Grilling Systems Instru tional Book
5

Maintenan e A ess: When your barbe ue is installed, you should be able to a ess
the gas supply line in luding the gas piping or hose, gas regulator, gas ylinder and any shut off valves.
Partial En losures: Many ba kyards have areas that are partially losed off, su h as
bal onies and pergolas. In some ases, it is hard to de ide whether these partially en losed areas should be
lassified as indoor areas, parti ularly in terms of permanent (non- losable) ventilation. The gas safety
authorities have agreed on the definition of partial en losures below.
Safety and Installation Warnings
Please read all instru tions before installing or operating your gas grill to prevent injury and
applian e damage.
All gas grills will get hot during use. Use extreme aution when operating the grill. Do not
tou h hot surfa es. Always use the handle to open or lose the grill.
Close supervision is ne essary when this or any applian e is used near hildren. Keep
hildren away from the grill during operation and until the grill has ooled off.
Do not store any LP ylinder or tank not onne ted for use with the grill, in the area of this
grill or any other applian e. Never store an LP ylinder or tank indoors, or within the rea h of hildren.

Keep any ele tri al supply ord and fuel supply hose away from any heated surfa es and
dripping grease.
Do not twist the gas supply hose.
Before ea h use, visually inspe t the gas supply hose for ra ks, uts or ex essive wear.
Repla e the hose if ne essary.
Never test the grill for gas leaks using a lighted mat h or any other open flame; see leak test
pro edures using soap/water solutions - in luded in following pages of this manual.
The use of a essories, regulators, or omponents not re ommended by the applian e
manufa turer may ause injuries and will void warranty.
Never light the grill with the hood losed and be ertain that the burners are positioned and
seated over the gas valves and on the burner support.
Never lean over the ooking surfa e when lighting or operating the grill.
Use barbe ue tools with wood handles and insulated oven mitts when operating the grill.
Gas Spe ifi ations: Be sure that the gas supplied to the grill onforms to the model you
pur hased. A Natural Gas grill requires natural gas to operate; an LP grill requires liquid
propane gas to operate.
Che k the rating label on the left hand side of the unit.
*RATING PLATE LOCATION
Never onne t the applian e to an unregulated gas supply line. Grills operated without a regulator are
unsafe and will not be servi ed until installed properly and safely. Unsafe operation without a gas regulator
will void warranty of the grill.
Grills operated with NG (natural gas) gas must be installed with the NG regulator supplied with the unit
and set to 4.0" water olumn pressure.
Grills operated with LP (liquid propane) gas must be installed with an LP regulator supplied

with the unit and set to 11" water olumn pressure.
The gas valves used in the grills are preset at the fa tory for Natural Gas or Liquid Propane operation. Please
onta t your dealer and use a li ensed ontra tor or installer to onvert your grill to a different gas type.
The self- ontained LP system barbeque grill is design ertified to be used with a standard 20 lb,
12 1/4" diameter, 18" high ylinder with right handed onne tion threads and this is the maximum size LP tank
to be used. The ylinder must be marked in a ordan e with the latest U.S. Department of Transportation
spe ifi ations for LP gas ylinders. (DOT. CFR49 or National Standards Of Canada CAN/CSA-B359
Cylinders, Spheres and Tubes for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods) a Propane Tank with an ODP )
Overfill Prevention Devi e) must be used at all times.
Natural Gas Requirements
Always he k the Rating Plate to make sure the gas supply you are hooking up to is the gas type the grill is
manufa tured for.
IMPORTANT: Never onne t the grill to an unregulated gas supply.
The installation of this applian e must onform with lo al odes or in the absen e of lo al odes, to the
national fuel gas ode, ANSI Z223.1a-1998. Installation in Canada must be in a ordan e with the standard
CAN/CGA-B149.2, Propane Installation Code.
A li ensed ontra tor or lo al gas ompany representative must perform all natural gas onne tions.
Ensure that the servi e supplying the grill is fitted with a shut off valve onveniently positioned near the grill
and giving ease of a ess.
The grill must be isolated from the gas supply piping system by losing its individual manual shutoff valve
during any pressure testing of the gas supply piping system at test pressures equal to or less than 0.5 psi (3.5
kPa).

Conne tion
Slide the grill forward to gain a ess to the regulator and gas onne tion point in the rear. Conne t a
suitable natural gas flex onne tor to the grill regulator.
Che k the grill ontrols to ensure all ontrol valves are in the full OFF position.
Turn on the main gas supply and he k all onne tions for leaks using soapy water as Des ribed in the
leak testing pro edure se tion.
Warning: If you see bubbles in the soapy solution at any of the connections, turn off the gas supply and
tighten the connection. If tightening the connection does not seal the lea , it may be necessary to replace
the flex hose.
Che king for Gas Leaks
Perform a leak test at least on e a year whether the gas supply ylinder has been
dis onne ted or not. In addition, whenever the gas ylinder is onne ted to the regulator or
whenever any part of the gas system is dis onne ted or repla ed, perform a leak test.
As a safety pre aution, remember to always leak test your grill outdoors in a well-ventilated
area. Never smoke or permit sour es of ignition in the area while doing a leak test. Do not use
a flame, su h as a lighted mat h to test for leaks. Use a solution of soapy water.
Prepare a leak testing solution of soapy water by mixing in a spray bottle one part liquid soap
to one part water.
Make sure all the ontrol knobs are in the OFF
position. Turn on the gas
•
On N atural Gas systems , turn the main feed valve to the grill.
•
On LP systems, turn the cylinder valve nob counter cloc wise one turn to open.

Apply the leak-testing solution by spraying it on joints of the gas delivery system.
Blowing bubbles in the soap solution indi ates that a leak is present.
Stop a leak by tightening the loose joint or by repla ing the faulty part with a repla ement part
re ommended by the manufa turer. Do not attempt to repair the ylinder valve if it is damaged.
The ylinder must be dis arded to a proper LP tank lo ation and then repla ed.
Turn all ontrol knobs ba k to the full OFF position.
If you are unable to stop a leak turn all ontrol knobs ba k to the full OFF position, shut off the
gas supply to the grill and release pressure in the hose and manifold by pushing in and turning
any of the ontrol valves one quarter turn ounter- lo kwise.
On LP systems, remove the ylinder from the grill.
Call an authorized gas appliance service technician or an LP gas dealer. Do
not use the appliance until the lea is corrected.

Installing the Grill in a BBQ Island
You will need a se ond person to help you avoid damaging the grill or your barbe ue
island.
Before installing a grill in any island or ut out, make sure that the opening is not bigger than
the outside frame of the grill unit. The grill should rest on the lip of the frame.
Pay areful attention to the lo ation of the gas line. It should be routed away from sour es of
heat and should make as few bends as possible.
Che k to see if the gas line onne tion will be a essible when grill is installed.
If the gas line onne tion is not easily a essible when the grill is installed, support the grill above
ounter level and atta h the gas line to the grill. When the gas onne tion is made, slide the grill
into the ut out. If the gas line onne tion is a essible when the grill installed, slide the grill into the
ut out and then atta h the gas line.
Be very areful not to kink the gas line when lowering the grill into the ut out.
Keep your fingers away from where the grill will be supported on ounter. Your fingers ould
be ome trapped and serious injury ould o ur.
Che k to make sure the grill is level and is supported around the entire outside edge. If the grill
is not level or is unstable, use non- ombustible shims under the outside lip to stabilize it.
Perform the lea test procedure as described earlier in this manual.
