WIRING CONNECTIONS & SETTINGS
It is important to read this manual thoroughly before starting your installation and always plan accordingly.
Before installing, disconnect the negative (ground) wire from the vehicle’s battery to avoid damage to the
vehicle or yourself. Following all guidelines will help provide years of enjoyment with your STEG amplifier.
Power Supply Terminal
Œ
Ground (GND): The ground terminal must be connected to a metal part of the vehicle with ground
Ÿ
plane back to the main battery ground attachment point (a.k.a. chassis ground). This wire should be as
short as possible, but no longer than 2ft (60cm), with minimum gauge of 4AWG. The ground wire
should be terminated with a ground specific or ring terminal and securely bolted to the vehicle with
star or lock washer and nut to prevent from coming loose. The chassis ground connection point
should be scuffed to the bare metal.
Remote Turn-on (REM): If the source unit has a remote output wire or if a switched ignition wire is
Ÿ
available, connect it to the REM terminal for turning on the amplifier.
ŸPower (+12V): The constant +12V power connection must be made at the vehicle main battery,
securely connected with a ring terminal and protected with an in-line fuse within 18in (45cm) from the
positive battery terminal. The M.MSK130.4 requires a 70A fuse and a minimum power wire gauge of
4AWG, while the M.MSK200.2 requires a 60A fuse with 4AWG wire. Do not install the fuse until all other
system connections have been made.
Fuses: These ATC fuses are to protect the amplifier and must be inserted for operation. When replacing
fuses, check for system wiring faults and always use the specified value for each fuse. The M.MSK130.4
model requires two 35A fuses, while the M.MSK200.2 requires two 30A fuses.
Speaker Output Terminal: Each (+) and (-) terminal pair per channel is for connecting the amplifier's
Ž
output to speaker(s) or subwoofer(s). Make sure to observe correct polarity and total impedance per
channel. The minimum nominal impedance is 2Ω per channel, or 4Ω for bridged connections.
RCA Inputs (INPUT): These RCA jacks are for left and right channel input signal connections from the
source. Use quality interconnects to ensure stable connection and minimize the possibility for induced
noise. Each channel requires a source signal input connection to provide output.
Turn-on Mode Select: This switch is for selecting which method is used for turning on the amplifier. The
default setting is for a switched +12V wire connected to the REM terminal. If a wired trigger is
unavailable, select either DC-offset or Audio signal detection for the appropriate automatic turn-on
mode. While auto turn-on will work in most applications, there may be some cases were a +12V trigger is
needed for satisfactory results.
Power/Protect LED (PWR/PRO): This LED indicates the amplifer status. Blue indicates the amplifier is on
‘
and in normal operation. Red indicates the amplifier is in protection mode, due to overheating, under-
voltage or output short circuit condition.

TOP PANEL CONTROL SETTINGS
Gain Adjustment (GAIN): This adjustment is for matching the input sensitivity of the amplifier with the
Œ
maximum unclipped signal provided by the source. The 4-channel model M.MSK130.4 provides separate
gain adjustments for front and rear channels. Follow proper gain setting procedures to ensure optimum
source volume range with minimum chance for clipping or over-driving the speaker(s)/subwoofer(s).
Aside from music, a -10dBfs sine wave tone at a frequency between the chosen crossover points may
also be used during the tuning process to ensure proper headroom and gain overlap for typical music
recording levels. Readjustment may be necessary after any changes to crossover or bass boost settings.
Crossover Mode (X-OVER): This switch is available on the M.MSK130.4 model (rear channels only) and
the M.MSK200.2 and is for selecting the crossover filter mode as a high-pass (HP), a low-pass (LO) or
bypassed for full-range operation (AP). For smaller full-range or component speakers, use the high-pass
(HP) setting to filter out unwanted low frequencies. For woofers or subwoofers capable of reproducing
only lower frequencies, use the low-pass (LO) setting to filter out unwanted high frequencies as needed
above the chosen cut-off frequency.
Crossover Frequency (FREQ): This adjustment is available on the M.MSK130.4 model (rear channels
Ž
only) and the M.MSK200.2 and sets the crossover cut-off frequency (Fc) from 50Hz to 200Hz with a slope
of -12dB/oct. It is enabled when the crossover mode is selected as a either high-pass (HP) or low-pass
(LO). Use this adjustment to optimize speaker or subwoofer performance by limiting the frequency
response to what they can effectively reproduce and minimize the chance of being over-driven.
Bass EQ (BASS BOOST): This provides level adjustment of a single EQ band centered at 45Hz from 0dB
up to +6dB. Use this setting to achieve desired bass response without over-driving the
speaker(s)/subwoofer(s) or causing excessive amplifier output distortion.
