STELLARVUEF80 13X80 FINDER
All Stellarvue F80 series finderscopes
are made to provide the highest level of
performance. We start with an astro-
nomical quality objective (most finders
use binocular objectives), which pro-
vides a sharp, high contrast image. The
finder features fully multi-coated optics,
a correct image 90 degree erecting
prism, a 1 1/4” helical focuser with rubber grip and a high quality, 50 degree,
fully multi-coated eyepiece with a large eye lens and a glass crosshair reti-
cle. This finder may be used with either our standard or our illuminated reti-
cle eyepiece
FOCUSADJUSTMENT
Unlike many finders that use inexpensive slide tube focusers or require
screwing and unscrewing the objective to reach focus, the Stellarvue can be
focused to accommodate different people thanks to its helical focuser.
erely turn the rubber grip to attain focus. The finder will accommodate var-
ious standard 1 1/4” eyepieces. Use wide field premium eyepieces for the
sharpest possible field.
The supplied eyepiece is designed to provide a wide field
of view. Eyeglass wearers may fold back the rubber eye-
cup to get in closer and enjoy the entire field.
First, focus the reticle by turning the knurled top of
the eyepiece. You may then focus the finder using
the image focuser below it.
Stellarvue now offers an illuminated reticle eyepiece that
works with all of our “version 2” finders. The illuminated
reticle eyepiece is identical to the standard eyepiece but
uses a battery operated illuminator which causes the reti-
cle to glow red.
ROTATING BACK
The F80 finder features a rotating back
allowing you to position the eyepiece in
the most comfortable position. Slightly
loosen the silver knob which is located at
the rear of the finderscope, rotate the
back and then retighten this knob. This
rotation will shift the image requiring slight
adjustment of the position of the tele-
scope.
RETICLE ILLUMINATOR (Sol Separately)
Battery replacement: As
shown, the illuminator is a
tubular electronic device that
attaches to a special base on
the illuminated eyepiece. It is
powered by two standard
GPA76 batteries. To replace
the batteries, unscrew the end
of the illuminator as shown to
the right. When installing
new batteries, be careful of
battery polarity. Inserting a
battery with the polarity reversed will damage the circuit and void the
warranty.
ON/OFF BRIGHTNESS: Rotate the on/off brightness knob clockwise to turn
on the illuminator. Turning the knob clockwise increases brightness. Turning
it counter clockwise decreases the brightness until it clicks off.
F80 RINGSYSTEMS (Sol Separately)
The F80 uses the R80 ring systems. These come with various bases that
permit attachment to a number of different telescopes.
R80AT: Low profile universal base. ounts to Stellarvue and Televue
clamshells. ay also be screwed to any flat surface or tube.
R80DA: ounts to many dovetail shoes on the market including Stellarvue,
Synta and others.
R80ET: ounts to 1” wide hinged mounting rings that have a 6 mm or 1/4-20
center hole.
R80FA: Complete high profile dovetail system that attaches to the 2.5” to
3.5” Feather Touch Focusers.
R80ST: Has a bracket that attaches to the mirror cell on 8” and larger
Celestron or eade SCTs.
