Strawbees FRIENDBOT User manual

Make a new companion to react and
express when meeting new friends.
Use motion with the micro:bit as
meaningful movement to express
different feelings for the Friendbot.

Bend 8 of the 3-leg
connectors

Take a 2-leg servo
arm and fit 2
yellow straws

connectors on
yellow straws

Build 2 squares
with 8 orange
straws

Connect to the base

straws, attach to the
3-leg connectors

Attach second
square to orange
straws to close
the head

and 2 yellow straws, build 2
beams

Slide the beams
on orange straws
and click

Bend 8 of the 3-leg
connectors

Take 1 yellow
straw, 1 orange
straw and 2 pink
straws. Build the
base
11 Take 4 pink straws,
fit on the 3-leg
connectors

Attach the top
part to pink
straws
complete the
body

Take 2 of the 1-leg connectors and
1 orange straw, build an orange
beam
15 Slide the beam
on yellow straws
of top of body
and click

Take 3 yellow straws and 1
orange straw. Build the top part
of body

Add the batteries and connect the servo
motor to the Robotics board. Align the
black cable with the marked arrow
Fit the servo mounts on the
servo motor
19 Snap the clip
on the board

Attach the micro:bit board into
the Robotics board

Slide arms on
pink straws in
front of body
and click the
arms

Take 2 of the 5-leg
connectors and fit to the
beams to make 2 arms

Clip the board on
the front of the
body part

Connect the
servo arm of
the head to the
servo on the
body

2 yellow straws, build two beams

Click the servo
between orange
straws on top of the
body
