Der «Automatische Magnetfilter
Typ SAM» entfernt magnetisier-
bare Partikel aus Flüssigkeiten.
Diese Filtermethode kommt
ohne Filtermittel aus und wird
häufig als Vorfilter z.B. bei
Bandfilter- oder Tiefbettfilteran-
lagen eingesetzt.
WICHTIG
Die hier vorliegende Betriebsan-
leitung enthält viele Informatio-
nen, die Ihnen helfen den Mag-
netfilter richtig einzusetzen.

The «Automatic magnetic filter
type SAM» removes magneti-
zable particles from liquids. The
filtering method works without
filtering media and is often used
as a preliminary filter, e.g. in con-
junction with band filters or full
drop filtering systems.
IMPORTANT
These operating instructions con-
tain information to help the cus-
tomer use a magnetic filter cor-
rectly.
Carefully read the section
«Safety / Guarantee / Liability».
Also take time to carefully study

Il «Filtro magnetico automatico
tipo SAM» serve a togliere par-
ticelle magnetizzabili dai liquidi.
Questo metodo di filtraggio non
ha bisogno di mezzi filtranti ed
è spesso utilizzato come prefil-
tro, per es. nel caso d’impianti
di filtri a nastro di carta oppure
a depressione.
IMPORTANTE
Il presente manuale d’istruzioni

Die automatischen Magnetfilter
SAM werden nach modernen
Fertigungsmethoden hergestellt
und während der Produktion und
als Endprodukt durch unsere
Qualitätssicherung umfassend
geprüft. Die eingesetzten Metho-
den und Verfahren entsprechen
dem Stand der Technik.
Die Garantie beträgt 12 Monate
bei einschichtigem Betrieb ab
Inbetriebnahmedatum, oder
max. 15 Monate ab Versandda-
tum. Sie beschränkt sich auf Er-
satz oder Reparatur von defek-
ten Teilen im Herstellerwerk.
Weitergehende Ansprüche sind
ausgeschlossen. (Detaillierte
Angaben sind in den «Allgemei-
nen Verkaufs- und Lieferbedin-
gungen» der Firma H. Streuli
AG, Meierskappel enthalten.)

und Weise, sowie unter den in

The automatic magnetic filters
SAM are manufactured accord-
ing to the most modern methods
and they have been tested thor-
oughly in the course of producti-
on and as a final product by our
quality assurance department.
The procedures and methods
used correspond to the most
recent state of the art.
The warranty is 12 months with
one shift operation, as from date
of commissioning or max. 15
months as from date of ship-
ment. It is restricted to the repla-
cement or repair of defective
components on the manufactu-
rer’s premises. Further claims
are excluded. (For additional in-
formation, please refer to the
general conditions for sale and
delivery of H. Streuli Ltd.,
Meierskappel.)

The filtering unit must be in-
stalled and operated according
to the conditions described in
this documentation. Only if these

ni e controllati a fondo dal nostro
sistema di garanzia della qualità,
sia durante la produzione, sia
come prodotto finale. I metodi e i
procedimenti impiegati corris-
pondono allo stato attuale della
tecnica.
La garanzia è di 12 mesi dalla
data di messa in servizio, oppu-
re di 15 mesi al massimo dalla
data di spedizione. Questa ga-
ranzia si limita alla sostituzione
o alla riparazione in fabbrica dei
pezzi difettosi. È esclusa qual-

Die folgenden Punkte sind
beim Betrieb der Filteranlage
besonders zu berücksichti-
gen:
– Die Filteranlage darf nur von
ausgebildeten und dazu be-
rechtigten Personen in Betrieb
gesetzt, bedient und betrieben
werden.
– Die Filteranlage ist entspre-
chend den massgebenden
Unfallverhütungsvorschriften
mit Schutzvorrichtungen und
der Sicherheit dienenden
Überwachungsfunktionen aus-
gerüstet. Diese Schutzvorrich-
tungen, das heisst auch die
Abdeckbleche, dürfen weder
verändert noch entfernt wer-
den.
– Bei Beschädigung oder Ausfall
von Schutzeinrichtungen ist
die Filteranlage stillzusetzen.
Sie darf erst bei vollständiger
Funktionstüchtigkeit der
Schutzeinrichtungen wieder in
Betrieb gesetzt werden.
– Die Filteranlage dient einzig
der Filterung von Flüssigkei-
ten, welche nicht korrosiv wir-
ken. Die Anlage darf nur in der
ausgelieferten Form verwen-
det werden. Bei Abänderung
ohne ausdrückliche schriftliche
Bewilligung von der Firma H.
Streuli AG erlischt jeglicher
Garantie- und Haftungsan-
spruch an den Hersteller.
CAUTION
All the points, where the effici-
ency of the filtering unit or the
machine, which supplies the
incoming feed, could be impai-
red or where actual damage to
the unit could occur, are framed
in black, and marked with the
word «CAUTION» and an excla-
mation point.
REMARK
Additional explanations and
supplementary information can
be found under the title «RE-
MARKS».
Take the following points into
special consideration when
operating the filtering unit:
– Only trained and authorized
personnel are allowed to start
up and operate and the filte-
ring unit.
– The filtering unit is equipped
with protective devices and
safety monitoring functions in
accordance with the standard
regulations for accident pre-
vention. These safety devices,
including all the covering
plates, are not to be altered or
removed.
– If the protective equipment is
damaged or defective, the
filtering unit must be shut off.
Only when the protective eq-
uipment functions completely
and efficiently can operation
continue.
– The filtering system is exclusi-
vely for filtering non-corrosive
liquids. The unit may be utili-
zed only in the delivered form.
Alterations without the explicit
written permission from the H.
Streuli Company cancel any
guarantee or liability claims
against the manufacturer.

I punti che seguono devono

l’uso dell’impianto filtrante:
– L’impianto filtrante può essere
messo in servizio, manovrato
e fatto funzionare unicamente
da personale addestrato all’
uopo e autorizzato specifica-
mente.
– Conformemente alle prescri-
zioni vigenti in materia antin-
fortunistica, l’impianto filtrante
è equipaggiato dei dispositivi
di protezione e delle funzioni
di sorveglianza per la sicurez-
za. Questi dispositivi di sicu-
rezza, fra i quali anche il telo-
ne di protezione, non devono
in nessun modo essere modifi-
cati o tolti.
– Nel caso di danno o avaria ai
dispositivi di protezione, l’im-
pianto filtrante dev’essere
messo fuori servizio è può es-
sere rimesso in funzione sol-
tanto quando tutti i dispositivi
di protezione funzionano di
nuovo perfettamente.
– L’impianto filtrante serve es-
clusivamente a filtrare liquidi
non corrosivi. Esso può esse-
re utilizzato unicamente nella
forma in cui è stato fornito. Nel
caso di modifica senza pre-
ventiva autorizzazione scritta
della ditta H. Streuli AG, scade
ogni pretesa di garanzia o di
responsabilità da parte del
fabbricante.

tiv grosse Flüssigkeitsmenge
enthalten. Schenken Sie der re-
lativ kleinen, aber immer vor-
handenen Auslaufgefahr genü-
gend Beachtung und treffen Sie
die entsprechenden Überwach-
ungsmassnahmen. Der Filteran-
lagehersteller haftet nicht für
Schäden, welche durch ausge-
laufene Flüssigkeit entstehen
können.
GEFAHR
In der Filteranlage liegen strom-
führende Kabel und andererseits
sehr gut stromleitende Flüssig-
keiten nahe beieinander. Diese
Kombination erhöht die Gefahr
des elektrisierens. Bei allen Ar-
beiten an stromführenden Tei-
len, soll man sich dieser erhöh-
ten Gefahr bewusst sein und
entsprechende Massnahmen
treffen (immer Strom ausschal-
ten). Die einschlägigen Elektro-
vorschriften sind unbedigt einzu-
halten.
– Beim Einsatz ungeeigneter
Medien (Flüssigkeiten) wie
z.B. reinem Wasser, basi-
schen oder säurehaltigen
Flüssigkeiten, kann die Anlage
durch Korrosion beschädigt,
funktionsunfähig oder undicht
werden. Meiden Sie solche
Medien strikte. (Für solche
Medien sind Filteranlagen in
Edelstahl oder Kunststoff ein-
zusetzen. Fragen Sie uns
an.)
Warnung vor Magnetfeldern
In dieser Maschine entstehen
durch die Verwendung von Per-
manentmagneten magnetische
Felder.
Magnetische Felder können die
Funktion von Herzschrittma-
cher beeinträchtigen. Das kann
Lebensgefahr für die betroffe-
nen Personen bedeuten.
IMPORTANT
The filtering unit can hold a re-
latively large amount of fluid.
Pay attention to the small but
always present danger of over-
flowing and take the appropriate
monitoring steps. The filtering
unit manufacturer assumes no
liability for damages resulting
from the overflowing of fluids.
DANGER
The filtering system includes
cables under current and well-
conducting liquids located close
to each other. This combination
increases the risk of electrocuti-
on. Please be aware of this si-
tuation whenever you carry out
work on elements under current
and take the required safety
measures (always disconnect
the current). Please follow the
respective electric regulations
closely.
– Working with unsuitable media
(liquids) such as pure water,
alkaline or acidic liquids, may
damage the system which be-
come untight and inoperative.
Such media must be avoided
at all costs. (Filtering systems
in special steel or plastic ma-
terials are suitable for such
media. Please get in touch
with us for further
information.)
Warning about magnetic
fields
Magnetic fields are created in
this machine as a result of the
use of permanent magnets.
Magnetic fields can impair the
function of pacemakers. This
can endanger the lives of the
persons concerned.
IMPORTANTE
L’impianto filtrante può contene-
re una quantità relativamente
grande di liquido. Di conseguen-
za, tenete sempre presente il
pericolo di perdite e adottate le
necessarie precauzioni. Il fabbri-
cante dell’impianto filtrante non
è responsabile dei danni che
possono essere causati dal liqui-
do fuoriuscito.

Nell’impianto filtrante, cavi sotto
corrente elettrica sono adiacenti
ai liquidi buoni conduttori della
stessa. Questa combinazione
aumenta il rischio dell’elettrizza-
zione. Di questo maggior perico-
lo bisogna essere estremamente
coscienti al momento d’interveni-
re sui componenti sotto corrente,
in modo da adottare le mi-sure
necessarie (disinserire sempre la
corrente). Attenersi in ogni caso
rigorosamente alle prescrizioni
elettriche al riguardo.
– Nel caso d’impiego di prodotti
non appropriati (liquidi), come
per es. acqua pulita, liquidi
basici o contenenti acidi, l’im-
pianto può essere danneggia-
to dalla corrosione, reso inser-
vibile o non essere più a tenu-
ta ermetica. Evitate perciò di
usare prodotti del genere. (Per
questi prodotti, s’impiegano
impianti in acciaio inossidabile
o materia plastica. Chiedete la
nostra consulenza in merito.)

fachste Möglichkeit. Er sollte
möglichst dem Krantransport
oder dem Transport durch «Tra-
gen von Hand» vorgezogen wer-
den.

waagrechten und trockenen Bo-
den an den vorgesehenen Platz
stellen.

Transport by means of a
lifting trolley or a forklift
The easiest way to transport the
filtering system is to use a lifting
trolley. This is preferable to
transporting by crane or by just
carrying «by hand».
Once the final point of installati-
on is reached, remove the
wooden pallet and install the
filtering system in a dry and level
place.
CAUTION
The filtering system must only
be transported when it is empty.

Funktionsprinzip
Die verschmutzte Flüssigkeit (8)
fliesst vom Verbraucher herkom-
mend in die Vorfilterkammer (1),
welche den Flüssigkeitsstrom
beruhigt.
Die Flüssigkeit strömt nachher
von oben her von den Rippen
geführt nach unten, an der Mag-
netwalze (2) vorbei. Die starken
Magnetkräfte ziehen die magne-
tisierbaren Partikel an die Walze
(2). Nach unten verengt sich der
Durchfluss. Die Spaltbreite, das
heisst die Durchflussmenge
resp. die damit zusammen-
hängende Filterwirkung kann mit
dem Griff «Durchflussverstel-
lung» (3) verändert werden.
Die Magnetwalze (2) dreht konti-
nuierlich. Das Abstreifblech (5)
streift den an der Walze (2) haf-
tenden Schmutz ab und leitet
ihn in den Schmutzbehälter (10).
Das gereinigte Medium (11)
fliesst nach unten in den Rein-
tank oder in die Filtermulde ei-
nes Nachfilters ab.

The feed (8), (soiled liquid) com-
ing from the using appliance
flows to the stabilizing chamber
(1), where the flow is tranquili-
zed.
The liquid then flows from the
top, guided by the ribs, down-
wards to the magnetic cylinder
(2). The strong magnectic power
attracts the magnetizable partic-
les against the cylinder (2). The
opening is tapered towards the
bottom. The slot width determi-
nes the flow capacity, thus the
respective filtering effect may be
adjusted over the «flow capacity
adjustment» handle (3).
The magnetic cylinder (2) turns
continuously. The wiper sheet
(5) wipes the dirt stuck to the
cylinder (2) and evacuates it into
the dirt collector (10).
The cleaned media (11) flows
downwards into the clean media
tank or into the filtering basin of
a subsequent filter.

Messa in servizio
L’impianto filtrante completo
viene fornito pronto a funzio-
nare. Non occorre togliere bloc-
caggi di trasporto.
La messa in servizio dell’impian-
to filtrante deve avvenire presso
il cliente, effettuata da specialisti
e conformemente alle indicazi-
oni del presente manuale.
OSSERVAZIONE
La macchina lavora in modo
silenzioso, pertanto non sono
necessari particolari misure per
la riduzione dell’emissione
acustica.
Completare il protocollo di
messa in servizio
I singoli punti devono essere vis-
tati o bisogna inserire i relativi
valori. Il protocollo completato e
firmato è parte del documento di
presa in consegna.
Per la messa in servizio comple-
ta, seguire nell’ordine i singoli
punti.
1. Installare l’impianto filtrante
esattamente orientato all’ubi-
cazione definitiva.
2. Porre il collettore dello sporco
a fianco dell’impianto filtrante,
sotto il raschiatoio.
3. Introdurre il tubo di ritorno
dall’utilizzatore direttamente e
più in basso possibile (spruz-
zi) nella camera del prefiltro.
4. Allacciare elettricamente l’im-
pianto filtrante ai corrispon-
denti morsetti nella cassetta
elettrica. A questo scopo, uti-
lizzare lo schema elettrico,
appositamente preparato per
quest’impianto, che si trova
nei «Documenti specifici
dell’impianto».
Inbetriebnahme
Die vollständige Magnetfilteran-
lage wird betriebsbereit angelie-
fert. Es sind keine Transport-
sicherungen zu entfernen.
Die Inbetriebnahme der Filter-

spezifische Dokumente».

trically on the terminals in the
electric box. Use the electric

this unit in the «Unit specific
documents».

OSSERVAZIONE
In molti casi, l’impianto filtrante è
cablato pronto a essere allac-
ciato alla presa di corrente.
5. Verificare la protezione elet-
trica prevista dal cliente. I dati
di potenza dell’impianto fil-
trante figurano nel «Proto-
collo d’impianto».
6. Verificare i termorelè
(interruttori termici automatici
contro sovraccarichi). Tutti i
termorelè e i salvamotore
sono regolati in fabbrica.
Verificare i valori impostati
con l’aiuto dello schema
elettrico. Le potenze
d’assorbimento dei motori fi-
gurano sia sullo schema elet-
trico, sia sulle targhette dei
motori.
7. Inserire la corrente. Inserire o
avvitare i fusibili o interruttori
di potenza previsti dal cliente.
ATTENZIONE
Da ora in avanti, ricordatevi che
la corrente è inserita.
8. Verificare il senso di
rotazione del cilindro
magnetico. Per eseguire,
inserite per un attimo
l’impianto filtrante magnetico.
Il cilindro deve ruotare verso
il raschiatoio. Se esso ruota
invece nel senso inverso,
occorre scambiare fra loro
due fili di raccordo dell’ali-
mentazione di corrente este-
rna. In fabbrica, il senso di
rotazione è cablato corretta-
mente. Il cablaggio corretto è
assicurato anche se il filtro
magnetico viene montato as-
sieme ad altri sistemi di
filtraggio.
BEMERKUNG
In vielen Fällen ist die Filteran-
lage steckerfertig verdrahtet.
5. Absicherung der kundenseit-
igen Stromversorgung über-
prüfen. Die Leistungsdaten
der Filteranlage sind aus dem

6. Überprüfung der Thermo-
relais (thermische Motoren-
überstromauslöser). Alle
Thermorelais oder Motor-
schutzschalter werden im
Herstellerwerk eingestellt.
Überprüfen Sie alle einge-
stellten Werte gemäss dem
Elektroschema. Die Motoren-
aufnahmeleistungen sind so-
wohl auf dem Elektro-
schema, als auch auf den
Motorenschildern ersichtlich.
7. Strom zuführen. Die kunden-
seitigen Sicherungen oder
Leistungsschalter einschal-
ten oder eindrehen.
ACHTUNG
Seien Sie sich von jetzt an be-
wusst, dass der elektrische
Strom eingeschaltet ist.
8. Magnetwalzendrehrichtung
überprüfen. Schalten Sie
dazu die Magnetfilteranlage
für einen kurzen Moment ein.
Die Walze muss sich in Rich-
tung gegen das Abstreifblech
bewegen. Falls die Walze in
die falsche Richtung läuft,
dann sind zwei elektrische
Anschlussdrähte der exter-
nen Stromeinspeisung ge-
geneinander auszutauschen.
Im Herstellerwerk wird die
Drehrichtung richtig verdrah-
tet. Die richtige Verdrahtung
ist ebenfalls sichergestellt,
wenn der Magnetfilter mit an-
dern Filtersystemen zusam-
mengebaut ist.
REMARK
In most cases, the filtering unit
is already wired to be plugged
in.
5. Check the fuse protection on
the customers supply vol-
tage. The capability data for
the filtering unit can be found
in the «Unit protocol».
6. Check the thermal relays
(thermal trigger for excess
motor current). All the thermal
relays are set at the factory.
Check all the set values ac-
cording to the electric dia-
gram. The motor ratings can
be found on the electric dia-
gram as well as on the motor
lable plates.
7. Supply the voltage. Turn on
or screw in the fuse
protection or capacity switch
on the customer side.
CAUTION
Remember that from now on the
voltage is turned on.
8. Check the sense of rotation
of the magnetic cylinder. For
this purpose, switch the
magnetic filtering system ON
for a short time. The cylinder
has to rotate in the direction
towards the wiper sheet. In
case the cylinder turns in the
wrong sense, two electric
connection wires of the
external power supply have
to be inverted. The sense of
rotation is cabled correctly at
the manufacturer’s plant.
Correct wiring is also
guaranteed if the magnetic
filter is combined with other
filtering systems.

lare la manopola in modo che
la massima quantità possibile
di ritorno dall’utilizzatore pos-
sa fluire attraverso il filtro, pro-
vocando soltanto un leggero
ristagno (corrente laminare).
Segnate questa posizione
della manopola, in modo che
possa essere ritrovata facil-
mente.
Il vostro impianto filtrante
magnetico funziona perfetta-
mente ed è ora pronto a entrare
in servizio.
Firmare il protocollo e farlo
controfirmare al cliente.
9. Medium einfüllen. Füllen Sie
nach Ihrem Bedarf Medium in
den Tank, aber nur so hoch
bis die Flüssigkeitsoberfläche
50 mm unterhalb des
Behälterrandes steht.
ACHTUNG
Vorsicht beim Nachfüllen:
Erst nachfüllen, wenn alle Flüs-
sigkeit von Ihrem Verbraucher
zur Filteranlage zurückgeflos-
sen ist. Damit verhindern Sie,
dass event. noch
zurückfliessendes Medium den
Reinbehälter zum Überlaufen
bringen kann.
10. Durchflussmenge ein-
stellen.
Mit dem Handgriff lässt sich
die Durchflussmenge für je-
den Bedarfsfall bezüglich
Filterleistung und Durch-
flussmenge stufenlos verstel-
len. Stellen Sie den Handgriff,
resp. die Durchflussmenge
so ein, dass die grösst-
mögliche Verbraucher-Rück-
flussmenge mit leichtem
Rückstau (laminare Strö-
mung) durch den Filter strö-
men kann. Markieren Sie die-
se Handgriff-Position, damit
sie später leicht reproduziert
werden kann.
Ihre Magnetfilteranlage funktio-
niert einwandfrei und ist jetzt
vollständig betriebsbereit.
Protokoll unterschreiben und
ebenfalls durch den Kunden
unterschreiben lassen.
9. Filling in the media. Fill the
media in the clean media
tank, according to your
requirements, but not higher
than 50 mm below the edge
of the clean media tank.
CAUTION
Look out when refilling:
Refill only after all the liquid has
flowed back from the using
appliance to the filtering
system. In this way, media
which still might flow back will
not make the clean media tank
overflow.
10. Adjustment of the flow rate.
By means of the handle per-
mits infinite adjustment of the
flow rate according to require-
ments, i.e. filtering perfor-
mance and flow rate. Adjust
the hand wheel, resp. the flow
rate so that the maximum
backflow quantity can flow
through the filter with a slightly
banked level (laminary flow).
Mark the respective hand
wheel position in order to be
able to reproduce the adjust-
ment later.
The magnetic filter system now
functions correctly and is com-
pletely ready for operation.
Sign the protocol and also have
it signed by the customer.

delle Istruzioni per l’uso.
Per la messa in servizio comple-
ta, procedere punto per punto
nell’ordine e quindi vistare lo
spazio di controllo. Lasciar vuoto
quello delle operazioni che non
vanno eseguite.
1. Installare l’impianto filtrante
all’ubicazione prevista
2. Sistemare il collettore dello
sporco
3. Condurre il ritorno dall’utiliz-
zatore direttamente nella
camera del prefiltro
4. Allacciare elettricamente
l’impianto filtrante
5. Controllare l’alimentazione
elettrica esterna (del cliente)
6. Verificare le regolazioni dei
termorelè e dei salvamotore
7. Inserire la corrente d’alimen-
tazione
8. Verificare il senso di rotazione
del cilindro magnetico
9. Riempire di liquido
10. Regolare il flusso

1. Clean the wiper sheet
and empty the dirt
collector
– Switch the filtering system
OFF. This assures that the
magnetic cylinder will not
rotate when the dirt collector is
emptied
– Wipe the dirt off the magnetic
cylinder and the wiper sheet
and sweep it into the dirt col-
lector
– Clean the wiper sheet with a
rug
– Empty the dirt collector
REMARK
With regard to waste disposal,
please follow the regulations
and recommendations of the en-
vironmental protection authori-
ties.
– Place the dirt collector be-
neath the wiper sheet and
switch the filtering system ON
5. Empty and clean the
filter unit
– Switch the filtering system OFF
and allow all the liquid to flow
back into the filtering system
