At the top of the waterfall, prepare the
area for installation by excavating a 9”
x 34” x 6” deep hole. Compact the soil
in the bottom of the hole to prevent
unwanted settling.
The Livingponds®Filter 070 includes
two 3” inlets (on either side of the
housing). Select the unused side
and apply glue to the ABS plug
(provided).
Before glue dries, firmly press plug
into unused Livingponds® Filter inlet.
For 1 1/2” or 2” kink free hose, wrap the inlet
barb's threads with included teflon tape and
screw into reducer bushing provided. Rigid
or flexible PVC can be glued directly to filter
inlet or reducer bushing.
Install inlet assembly by first applying
a layer of PVC glue to the outside of
the reducer bushing.
Before glue dries, firmly press inlet
assembly into Livingponds® Filter
inlet.

Assembly and Installation
Place Filter into hole and level front
to back and side to side. Tip the unit
forward (toward the pond) slightly
(about 1/4”) to compensate for
settling.
Continue landscaping with rock work and plants to fully
blend the Livingponds® Filter into its surroundings.
Prepare for winterization in mid-to-late November, or when ice persistently develops on the pond. Keep
equipment winterized until late February or early March when the water temperature rises to 40º F or
higher consistently.
If the pond is to be shut down in Winter:
1) Disconnect UV Clarifiers and store indoors.
2) Disconnect submersible pump, clean and store in a dry place.
3) Drain any plumbing lines not buried below frost line (18”-24” in agricultural
zones 4-6).
4) Use plumber’s heat tape on pipes and shut off valves. Insulate the pump
house and exterior pumps and valves.
5) Remove and thoroughly clean filter mat & media. Drain Livingponds Filter.
Winterization
Maintenance
Under normal operating conditions this filter will provide years of trouble-free use. This filter includes two
medium density filter pads and a highly porous ceramic media which requires periodic maintenance to
keep your pond looking its best.
Cleaning Instructions
Check and clean filter media when the media appears dirty or when the flow of water decreases.
1) Shake ceramic media and filter mat to dislodge debris.
2) Rinse filter media in a bucket of clean pond water. Avoid using tap water, chlorinated water,
soaps or chemicals as this can kill the beneficial organisms living on the media.
