available features you want to be entertained, informed, connected. A touch-screen
navigation system lets you explore any neighborhood without breaking a sweat.
A premium audio system keeps the tunes flowing, whether it’s from the satellite
feed,1your iPod, CD/MP3or the radio. You can govern the sounds without distraction
with the steering wheel controls. And a multi-position driver’s seat provides the ideal
perch from which to rule over it all.

SYSTEM
STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS
Set the standard cruise control to your chosen speed
and maintain your velocity. Control your audio system
while keeping your hands on the steering wheel where
they should be with the available steering wheel
controls. They let you manage your tunes so you can
listen to whatever you feel like.
TRIP COMPUTER
Get instant info on your average fuel economy and
ambient temperature. Impreza models equipped with
the navigation system also come with an enhanced
trip computer. When you're not using the navigation,
you can get information on your fuel economy, main-
tenance reminders, a calendar, calculator and controls
for vehicle settings.
AUDIO SYSTEM
The music never ends with an in-dash 6-disc CD
changer pumping out music through its
10 speakers.
Managed by steering wheel controls, the available
premium audio system is enhanced with SRS Circle
Surround Automotive to mimic live performances.
It’ll also display information on track, artist and title.
AUDIO/VIDEO JACKS
Auxiliary audio/video jacks, included with the naviga-
tion system, let you plug in nearly any portable media
player, from your iPod® to a video player or gaming
console. Plug it in and your tunes will flow through the
optional 10-speaker SRS Circle Surround Automotive™
premium audio system. The video portion plays on the
in-dash screen when the car is parked.
SATELLITE RADIO
Listen to indie, rock, or even your favorite uncensored talk
show in digital-quality sound, wherever your journey takes
you. You’ll get a minimum of interruptions and accessibility
from coast to coast. Every Impreza is pre-wired for XM®
or SIRIUS™ Satellite Radio,1while navigation-equipped
models give you standard SIRIUS that lets you access over
130 channels of satellite feed.2

STORAGE
You’ll find plenty of storage compartments
around the cabin, such as door bins for all
four doors and a sizable available center
console. Keep hydration within easy reach
with bottle holders in all four door bins.
In the cargo space of the 5-door, there are
nooks to hold small items to keep them
neat and organized, as well as cargo hooks
and tie downs. And a retractable cargo
cover keeps it all covered from prying eyes.
The Outback Sport even equips you with
standard cross bars to carry even more.
CARGO AREA
The 5-door’s remarkably wide cargo
area features a standard retractable
cover
. And the rear suspension of the
new Impreza doesn't just help handle
better, it helps it handle more. The 5-door
offers up to 19.0 cu. ft. of space with
both rear seats in use. With both rear
seats folded, you can make full use of the
maximum 44.4 cu. ft. of cargo capacity.
Meanwhile, the 4-door can take on three
golf bags in its 11.3 cu. ft. trunk.
FLEXIBLE SPACE
Both the 4- and 5-door Impreza let you
transport a myriad of differently sized
objects with their 60/40-split folding
rear seats. With both the rear seat backs
up, you can seat three friends. It also
allows for two passengers and a long
item, or one passenger and gear for
everybody. Or fold both for full access
to the trunk or cargo area.

SMOOTHER OPERATION
The 180-degree boxer engine layout allows the pistons
to move in exact horizontal opposition, effectively
negating vibrations. Its smoothness not only sweetens
power delivery, it also helps increase longevity.

SUSPENSION
Riding on an all-new double wishbone rear suspension the
Impreza is all about smooth, polished road manners with
more than enough verve to take on those curvy canyon
roads. And it comes with standard 16-inch wheels. On the
Outback Sport, you get 17-inch wheels and a raised sus-
pension that puts many unpaved roads within reach.
The available electronic stability control system helps
keep you on your intended path by measuring variables
such as steering input, braking and vehicle angle.
Sensing any slide that causes the vehicle to deviate from
your intended course, VDC applies individual brakes
and/or reduces engine power to counteract the slide
and help keep you safely in control.

INCLINE START ASSIST
Parking or stopping on hills with your manual
transmission and VDC-equipped Impreza is
simplified with the available Incline Start Assist
feature. It keeps the brakes on for a bit while
you’re switching your foot from the brake to
the gas pedal. It helps to prevent the car from
rolling backwards.
TRANSMISSIONS
Choose between the smooth-shifting 5-speed
manual that’s fully-synchronized for precise
action. Or opt for the convenience of the 4-speed
automatic transmission with SPORTSHIFT®
manual control that lets you set it in Drive when
you want to, or lets you switch gears manually
by moving the shifter up or down.
BRAKES
A standard Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) is enhanced
with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) to apportion
power to the front and rear wheels. And available Brake
Assist aids in maximizing emergency halts. When it
comes to your well-being, you’ll find that the Impreza

manual transmission use a viscous-locking
center differential. Should wheel slippage
occur, it helps transfer power to the wheels

SYMMETRICAL ALL-WHEEL DRIVE
Continuous All-Wheel Drive Models equipped with 5-speed manual transmission utilize a viscous-type locking center differential with torque distribution normally
configured at a 50/50-split front-to-rear. If wheel speed differs between front and rear axles, the system helps distribute power to the
wheels with the most traction.
Active All-Wheel Drive Models equipped with 4-speed automatic transmission utilize an electronically controlled variable transfer clutch to distribute power to
where traction is needed. Sensors monitor parameters such as wheel slippage, throttle position and braking, to help determine torque
distribution and direct it to the wheels with optimum traction.
STABILITY AND TRACTION
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) Available VDC electronic stability control utilizes sensors which constantly monitor wheel speed, steering angle, brake pressure, vehicle
yaw rate and lateral g-forces. If VDC detects a difference between the driver’s intended path and the one the vehicle is actually taking,
VDC applies braking power and/or reduces engine torque to help correct vehicle path.
Traction Control System (TCS) VDC also incorporates an all-wheel, all-speed traction control system which senses a loss of traction and applies braking force to the slipping
wheel or wheels as necessary to maintain vehicle motion.
