energyand heatsmorequickly,sostirfrom
the outside tothe center.The ovenwillturn
offwhen you open the doortostiryourfood.
Arrangement
Arrange unevenlyshaped foods,suchas
chicken piecesorchops,withthe thicker,
meatierpartstowardthe outside ofthe
turntablewheretheyreceivemore
microwaveenergy.Topreventovercooking,
placedelicateareas,suchasasparagustips,
towardthe centerofthe turntable.
Shielding
Shieldfoodwithnarrowstripsofaluminum
foiltopreventovercooking.Areasthatneed
shielding include poultry wing-tips,the ends
ofpoultrylegs,and cornersofsquarebaking
dishes.Useonlysmallamountsofaluminum
foil. Largeramountscan damage youroven.
Turning
Turnfoodsovermidwaythrough cooking to
exposeallpartstomicrowaveenergy.Thisis
especiallyimportantwithlarge foodssuchas
roasts.
Standing
Foodscooked inthe microwavebuildup
internal heatand continuetocookforafew
minutesafterheating stops.Letfoodsstand
tocompletecooking,especiallyfoodssuch
ascakesand wholevegetables. Roastsneed
thistimetocompletecookinginthe center
withoutovercookingthe outerareas.All
liquids,suchassoup orhotchocolate,should
be shaken orstirred when cooking is
complete.Letliquidsstand amomentbefore
serving. When heating babyfood,stirwell at
removaland testthe temperaturebefore
serving.
Adding moisture
Microwaveenergyisattracted towater
molecules.Food thatisuneven inmoisture
contentshouldbe covered orallowed to
