1. INTRODUCTION
The Pocket Power Station 2 is a power storage device that can hold 300 - 500Wh of power. It is
strong and rugged in design and portable in size. It carries two lithium-ion battery packs
connected so that both drain in unison with the duration of output power greater than if there
was only one battery. The Pocket Power Station 2 can supply many different utilities up to 200W
with AC power and is highly useful in the outdoor environment or those locations where the
mains supply is poor or non-existent. The Pocket Power Station 2 is a plug-and-play portable
power source that will run numerous electrical devices in remote areas and be a useful addition
to equipment taken while camping, yachting, or any other isolated location.

The Pocket Power Station 2 has two settings on the ‘function switch’
a) Constant power (UPS - limited to 25W devices such as laptop computer or emergency
lighting)
Simply plug either an ‘extension socket’ into the 3-pin socket or USB connector into the correct
sockets, and as long as the utility does not exceed the 200Wh ability of the Pocket Power Station,
the utility(s) will function.

b) Night-time use only (when not charging)
The Pocket Power Station 2, can switch automatically when it is not charging or when there is
no sun. This is especially useful when powering lighting as you don’t need the lights to be
illuminated during the day.
Once the power begins to drain from the Pocket Power Station 2, the three lights (Status LED)
will drop to two or one. In the case of the Pocket Power Station 2 Plus, the device will switch
from the empty battery to the next full battery and use it up until fully drained.

5. SAFETY

Make sure the Pocket Power Station 2 is fully charged prior to use.

Use suitable cables when charging your device from the Pocket Power Station.

When charging the Pocket Power Station, it is recommended that you use the provided
Sunsynk TM connectors.

The Status LED Array indicates a low battery. In order to avoid shortening battery life, ensure
the device is fully charged so that all three lights are illuminated.

During periods of storage, the Pocket Power Station should be charged at least once every
two months to avoid battery life decay.

Keep the Pocket Power Station 2 away from fire and avoid temperatures above 140°F (60°C)
when not in use.

Do not get the Pocket Power Station 2 wet or immerse it in water.

Do not wash the Pocket Power Station 2 with a corrosive cleaner.

Do not puncture or fracture the Pocket Power Station 2 so as to avoid electric shock or
electrolyte leakage from the lithium-ion battery(s).

Do not attempt to disassemble, modify, or fix the Pocket Power Station 2.

Do not use a damaged cable or power charger for the Pocket Power Station 2.

Please re-cycle this device at an appointed disposal location for lithium-ion batteries
6. TROUBLESHOOTING

Inside and charged fully so that all LEDs are illuminated, the battery must be firmly locked into
the recess so that it cannot fall out.

In the event that too many appliances have been plugged into the Pocket Power Station 2, it
will cut out. In this case, switch off the device and remove the batteries. Then immediately
replace the batteries and switch the device back on. This is, in fact, a reboot of the device’s
software.

There is a blue light on the ‘output’ side that displays when the unit is working properly. If the
unit is overloaded/faulty or there is a low battery, the light will start to flash red. Then
disconnect the load (appliances) and re-charge the battery.
7. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q.1: Can I take my Pocket Power Station 2 with me when I fly to another country?
A.1: Yes, you can. The Lithium batteries are designed to a power measurement below 160
Watts, which is the limit for flying. The battery should be removed, and its terminals taped over.
Also, you should place it in a plastic bag. Both Pocket Power Station 2 and battery should be
placed in hand luggage only.
Q.2: Can I take the Pocket Power Station 2 near water?
A.2: The product is built to IP65 standards, which means it can take a splash of water or humidity,
but it is not waterproof and should be placed inside a waterproof container before taking near
the marine environment. The Pocket Power Station 2 cannot be submerged, and contact with
water must be avoided.
Q.3: I have a powerful electronic device. How will I know if the Pocket Power Station 2 will
power it?
A.3: Look at the instruction manual of your device. It will contain a figure explaining the watt/hour
consumption of the device. If it uses 35Wh, then divide the 150Wh of the Pocket Power Station
2 by 40, and you will come to approximately 4, then consider you have two batteries so the
duration will double. So ‘YES’. Your device will run for 8 hours approximately on a fully charged
Pocket Power Station 2.
Q.4: Can I attach different sizes of solar panels to the Pocket Power Station 2?
A.4: You may attach any solar panel not exceeding 50W as the Pocket Power Station 2 is
designed to handle up to this size of the panel.
Q.5: Does the Pocket Power Station 2 get hot?
A.5: The Pocket Power Station 2 does not get hot; however, it should not be placed in direct
sunlight.
Q.6: When the Pocket Power Station 2 starts to lose power, can I replace one battery?
A.6: No. The user must always replace the batteries pairs. This is because the unit will self-
balance the power available from the two batteries and drain them equally. If there is a huge
difference in the charges available in the two batteries, the unit will not function properly unless
fully charged batteries are inserted as replacements. (It can take 48hrs to re-balance the
batteries).

9. WHAT THE POCKET POWER STATION 2 CAN POWER
It has to be accepted that the power of the device restricts the ability of the Pocket Power Station
2. Therefore, any user should consider what utility will be plugged into it. Should the device be
overloaded, it will simply cut out, and the user will need to switch it off and remove the batteries
and then immediately replace them, thereby re-booting the software within the Pocket Power
Station 2. The below table demonstrates loading for the Pocket Power Station 2, bearing in mind
that the maximum load at any one time is 200W.

From mains adapter
Remove the Sunsynk Mains Adapter from the box and connect it to a nearby mains supply.
Plug the DC jack into the DC input on the input side of the Pocket Power Station 2. Wait for 4-5
hrs or until the 3 LEDs on the output side of the PPS2 are fully light.
From 35W foldable solar panel
Unpack the solar panel and position it so that it is facing the sun. Plug the DC jack of the panel
into the DC input on the PPS2. Adjust the position of the panel during the charging period to
make sure it gets maximum sunshine. (Charging time 6-7 hrs in good sunshine)
11. LI-ION BATTERY WARNING
WARNING:
Take great care when handling the battery. Lithium-ion cells and battery packs may get
hot, explode or ignite and cause serious injury if exposed to extreme conditions. Be sure
to follow the safety warnings listed below:

DO NOT connect the positive terminal and the negative terminal of the battery pack to each
other with any metal object, such as a wire.

DO NOT carry or store the battery together with necklaces, hairpins, or other metal objects.

DO NOT pierce the battery with nails, strike the battery pack with a hammer, step on the
battery, or otherwise subject it to strong impacts or shocks.

DO NOT expose the battery to water or saltwater or allow the battery to get wet.

DO NOT place the battery in or near flames, on stoves, or other high-temperature locations.

DO NOT place the battery in direct sunlight or use and store the battery inside hot cars in hot
weather.

Doing this may cause the battery to heat, explode, or ignite. Using the battery in this manner
may also result in a loss of performance and a shortened life expectancy.

DO NOT disassemble or modify the battery. The battery contains safety and protection
devices, which, if damaged, may cause the battery to generate heat, explode or ignite.

Immediately discontinue the use of the battery if, while using, charging, or storing the battery,
it emits an unusual smell, feels hot, changes color or shape, or appears abnormal in any other
way.

DO NOT place the battery in a microwave oven, high-pressure container, or induction cooker.
If the battery leaks and the fluid gets into your eye, do not rub the eye. Rinse well with water
and immediately seek medical care. If left untreated, the battery fluid could cause damage in
the eye.

If the unit or parts of this unit are being transported or freighted, seek advice on the correct
protocol for handling and notification of the Li-ion batteries from your shipping agent.

12. MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1) Global Tech China Limited and Sunsynk Limited (from now on “the Company”) now warranty
against manufacturing faults of the products for two years under the following terms and
conditions:
a) The product must be purchased and installed within one of the following countries: The
United Kingdom, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana,
Hong Kong, and Australia. Products purchased and/or installed outside of these countries will
not be covered by this warranty under any circumstances.
b) The product must be installed and commissioned in full compliance with the installation
instructions provided with the product packages. The product must also meet the requirement
of the Benchmark initiative (if applicable).
c) The warranty period will commence from the date of installation. However, if the installation
is made after more than six months from the date on which the product was dispatched by
the company, the warranty period will commence immediately after six months from the date
of manufacture.
d) The product must be confined to domestic or light commercial use only. For this warranty,
“light commercial use” is referred to as a semi domestic-commercial environment including
but not limited to hair salons, small shops, pubs). Should confusion arise regarding the
determination of “light commercial use” the decision on the determination of the company will
be final.
e) The product must be well-maintained following the User Manual guidelines. Failure to
maintain the product, poor servicing, or no servicing of the products might invalidate this
warranty. Proof of service by competent servicing centers might be required to obtain warranty
facilities.
f) During the warranty period, the product must not be serviced, repaired, or altered in by any
third party. Any change, alteration, modification, or servicing whatsoever from anyone other
than the company will invalidate the warranty with full effect.
g) Following the servicing, repairment, or replacement, any parts or products removed from
your product will be taken as owner by the company. You will not have any claim for such
parts or products.
2) Warranty Limitations
This warranty does not include:
a) Any condition resulting from other than ordinary residential wear or any use for which the
product was not intended, such as use in rental or contract trade or commercial use;
b) Any condition resulting from incorrect or inadequate maintenance or car;

c) Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, negligence, accidents, theft, tempering, flood,
explosion, lightning, storms, frost, shipping damage, adverse weather or any other similar
event;
d) Dissatisfaction due to buyer’s remorse;
e) Normal wear and tear;
f) Damages incurred during transportation;
g) Damages incurred during assembly or maintenance (unless assembly or maintenance has
been carried out by the company);
h) Any unauthorized adjustments made to the product by a third party;
3) The company makes no express warranty or condition, whether written or oral, and the
company expressly disclaims all warranties and conditions not stated in this limited warranty.
The company disclaims all implied warranties or conditions, including any implied warranties of
merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
4) All warranty claims must be filed by the consumer to the retailer of this product, who in turn is
to contact the manufacturer regarding any warranty return or replacement. The company will not
handle claims from the consumer directly. Please retain invoices for obtaining warranty facilities.
5) All claims under this Warranty Statement must be made within the warranty period.
6) The decision of the company regarding any issue relating to this warranty statement is final.
