Sure-Lites UEL-HAZ Series User manual

WARNING
ELECTRICAL POWER MUST BE OFF, BEFORE AND DURING INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE.
INSTALLATION:
STEP 1: Review the STANDARD instructions (049-180) for mounting instructions, assembly and operations. Steps 3 and 4 from STANDARD
instructions (049-180) do not apply to hazardous locations. For hazardous locations installation, REFER TO THESE ADDITIONAL
INSTRUCTIONS. Supply connections to be made through conduit only.
STEP 2: Remove knockout for CONDUIT HUB at the desired location, with hammer and screwdriver, or drill out with 7/8" Dia. hole saw.
STEP 3: Install CONDUIT HUB and SEALING GASKET provided with the unit. See assembly view on the back of this sheet.
STEP 4. Knockout the two large keyholes, and attach the unit to the mounting surface with two metal screws with head diameter greater than
the 0.18 in. (4.57 mm) diameter of the keyhole cover opening. Make sure to use the keyhole covers provided with the unit as shown
below.
STEP 5: Complete CONDUIT installation with listed 1/2 in. CONDUIT and FITTINGS.
Connect Power Supply in accordance with Local Codes and the NEC code for Class I, Div. 2 - Hazardous Locations.
STEP 6: Complete assembly and installation per the STANDARD installation instructions. For hazardous locations compliance, unit must not be
tested with the laser tester.

IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
WHEN USING ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, BASIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD ALWAYS
BE OBSERVED INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING:
1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
2. Do not mount near gas or electric heaters.
3. Equipment should be mounted in locations and at heights where it will not readily be subjected to tampering by unauthorized
personnel.
4. The use of accessory equipment not recommended by Sure-Lites may cause an unsafe condition.
5. Do not use this equipment for other than its intended purpose.
6. Qualified personnel should perform servicing of any parts or replacement and proper disposal of the battery.
7. Determine that area is non-hazardous before servicing the equipment.

WARNING
To avoid the risk of fire, explosion or
electric shock, this product should be
installed, inspected and maintained by a
qualified electrician only, in accordance
with all applicable electrical codes.
WARNING
To avoid electric shock: Be certain
electrical power is off before and during
installation and maintenance.
To avoid burning hands: Make sure globe,
refractor or reflector lens and lamp are
cool when performing maintenance.
Luminaire must be supplied by a wiring
system with an equipment grounding
conductor.
WARNING
To avoid explosion:
Make sure the supply voltage is the same
as the luminaire voltage.
Do not install where the marked operating
temperatures (T-Code) exceed the ignition
temperature of the hazardous atmosphere.
Do not operate in ambient temperatures
above those indicated on the luminaire
nameplate.
Use only the lamp type and wattage
specified on the luminaire re-lamp label.
Use proper supply wiring as specified on
the luminaire labeling.
All gasket seals must be clean.
Before opening, electrical power to the
luminaire must be turned off. Keep tightly
closed when in operation.
