IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
1. Read all instructions.
2. To protect against risk of electri-
cal shock, do not put cord, plug,
base, or motor in water or other
liquid.
3. Close supervision is necessary
when any appliance is used by or
near children.
4. Unplug cord from outlet when not
in use, before putting on or taking
off parts, and before cleaning.
5. Avoid contact with moving parts.
6. Do not operate any appliance
with a damaged cord or plug, or
after the appliance malfunctions
or is dropped or damaged in any
manner. Call our toll-free cus-
tomer assistance number for
information on examination,
repair or electrical or mechanical
adjustment.
7. The use of attachments, including
canning jars, not recommended
or sold by the appliance manufac-
turer may cause a risk of injury to
persons.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of
table or counter, or touch hot sur-
faces, including the stove.
10.Keep hands and utensils out of
jar while blending to reduce the
risk of severe personal injury
and/or damage to blender. A rub-
ber spatula may be used but
must be used only when blender
is not running.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
11.Blades are sharp; handle carefully.
12.Do not use a broken, chipped, or
cracked blender jar.
13.Do not use broken, cracked, or
loose cutting blades.
14.To reduce the risk of injury, never
place cutting blades on base
without jar properly attached.
15.Always operate blender with lid
in place.
16.When blending hot liquids,
remove center piece of two-piece
lid. Do not fill blender jar beyond
the 3-cup level.
17.Screw on jar to safety base firm-
ly. Injury can result if moving

exposed.
18.If the jar should turn when the
motor is running, turn OFF imme-

This appliance is intended for
household use only.
This appliance is equipped with a
polarized plug. This type of plug has
one blade wider than the other. The
plug will fit into an electrical outlet
only one way. This is a safety feature
intended to help reduce the risk of
electrical shock. If you are unable to
insert the plug into the outlet, try
reversing the plug. If the plug should
still fail to fit, contact a qualified electri-
cian to replace the obsolete outlet. Do
not attempt to defeat the safety pur-
pose of the polarized plug by
modifying the plug in any way.
The length of the cord used on this
appliance was selected to reduce the
hazards of becoming tangled in or
tripping over a longer cord.
If a longer cord is necessary, an
approved extension cord may be
used. The electrical rating of the
extension cord must be equal to or
greater than the rating of the blender.
Care must be taken to arrange the
extension cord so that it will not
drape over the countertop or tabletop
where it can be pulled on by children
or accidentally tripped over.
If the cutting blades lock and do not
move, this will damage the motor. Do
not use. Call the toll-free customer
assistance number for information.
Do not place blender jar in the freezer
filled with food or liquid. This will
freeze and damage the cutting blades.
Before First Use: After unpacking the
blender, wash everything except the
blender base in hot, soapy water. Dry
thoroughly. Wipe the blender base
with a damp cloth or sponge. DO NOT
IMMERSE THE BASE IN WATER. Care
should be taken when handling the
cutting blades as they are very sharp.
IMPORTANT: Your
blender jar and
cutting blades are subject
to wear dur-
ing normal use. Always inspect jar for
nicks, chips, or cracks. Always
inspect cutting blades for broken,
cracked, or loose blades. If jar or cut-
ting blades are damaged, do not use.
Call our toll-free customer assistance
number to obtain replacement parts.
Consumer Safety Information
• Processing hot foods or liquids in
the blender may cause hot liquid to
spurt out when the cover is
removed. Always remove the filler
cap of the cover before blending hot
foods or liquids. Do not blend hot
liquids when using the Stir Stick or
the Personal Blending Jar.
• To add foods when blender is oper-
ating, remove filler cap from
container cover and add ingredients
through the opening.
• When blending foods, do not fill the
glass jar above the 32-ounce line
(4 cups).
• If blending action stops during
blending or ingredients stick to
sides of the jar, turn blender OFF.
Remove cover and use a rubber
spatula to push mixture toward
blades. Or use the Stir Stick to push
food toward blades.
• Do not try to mash potatoes, mix
stiff dough, whip egg whites, grind
raw meat, or extract juices from
fruits and vegetables. The blender
is not made to perform these tasks.
• Do not store food or liquids in the
blender jar.

Using Your Somersize Smoothie Maker
Congratulations on your Somersize Smoothie Maker! You’ll just love this
fabulous blender with the special stir-stick. No more turning the machine off
to stir stuck ingredients with a spoon… simply rotate your Stir Stick and
watch your smoothie get smooth!
The Somersize Smoothie Maker has 14 different speeds so you can chop,
grind, puree, and frappe to your heart’s content. And with my extra special
Blend and Go Cup you can make a single serving in a travel cup – just
blend, grab your cup and go. No blender to clean, just your personal cup to
take with you on the run. It’s the perfect size to fit a single serving of my
Somersize Protein Shakes in creamy chocolate, vanilla or orange cream.
I’ve also included a handful of my favorite recipes that you can make from
scratch. For those of you Somersizing, make sure not to use any fruits or
juices that have added sugars. If you want to sweeten things up, just use
a bit of my SomerSweet.
It only takes a few moments to blend your way to your favorite smoothies.
I start each day with one!
Enjoy,

First select LO or HI power using the

The OFF button is also the CRUSH/
PULSE button. This allows instant
control of blending action. The
blender runs only as long as you
hold the button.
The Clean Function
The Clean function should only be used
to rinse blender between batches of
processing the same food. When the
processing of a single type of food is
finished, the blender should be disas-
sembled and thoroughly cleaned as
instructed in “How to Clean.”
To use the Clean function, pour 2
cups warm water in jar and add 1
drop liquid dishwashing detergent.
Run the blender on CLEAN for 10
seconds. Discard soapy water. Rinse
with clean water.
This function is not a substitute for
regular cleaning as instructed in
“How to Clean.” This function should
never be used when blending any
mixture containing eggs, milk, or any
other dairy products, meats, or
seafood.

Crushing Ice
To get ice that is almost the consis-
tency of snow, follow these
guidelines.
• Ice must come directly from the
freezer. Ice that has been stored in
an ice chest or ice bucket has
already started to melt. That small
amount of moisture will not make
good dry, crushed ice.
• Crush 3 to 4 cups of ice at a time.
• Use the PULSE/OFF button. Press
and release the button allowing the
blender to come to a complete stop
before pressing again. This allows
the chunks of ice to fall on the
blades for consistent crushing of
the ice.
NOTE: Continue to pulse until you
cannot hear chunks of ice hitting the
blender jar, or about 30 to 45 sec-
onds.
• If you are crushing ice with a liquid,
for a drink or other recipe, there
should not be more ice than liquid
for best results. Equal amounts of
ice and liquid work well, for exam-
ple 2 cups ice and 2 cups liquid.
Do not try and blend 2 cups ice
and 1 cup liquid. An air pocket is
created around the blades and pre-
vents all the ice from being
crushed.
Using the Stir Stick
NOTE: Stir Stick is a 2-ounce measur-
ing scoop.
1. Press Ball on top of Stick.
2. Assemble blender and fill jar with
food to be blended.
3. Remove Filler Cap from lid and
insert Stir Stick.
4. Rotate Stir Stick as needed to
enhance blending.
