clearance

specification.
The procedure
fo
r adjusti
ng
the valve clearance is
as
follows:
NOTE:
Valve clearance
is
to
be
checked
when
the
.
engine
is cold.
Bach
intake

exhaust
valves
must
be
checked
and
ad

justed
when
the
piston
is

Top-
Dead

Center

.D,C.)
on the compression stroke.
• Remove the frame covers, seat, fuel tank and
ignition
coil.
• Remove the spark
plug
and val
ve
inspection
caps,
intake
and
exhaust.
NOTE:
Before adjusting the valve clearance,
check
or
adjust
the de-
compression
lever
clearance,

• Remove the T,D.C. inspection plug
CD
and
magneto
cover
cap
® on
the
magneto
cover.
•
Turn
the
crankshaft
counterclockwise
with
the
box
wrench
to
set
the
piston
at
T.O.C.
on
th
e
compression
stroke
. (Turn
the
crankshaft
until
the
engraved
line@on
the
magneto
rotor
is aligned
with
the
center
of
hole
on
the
magneto
cover.)
• I
nsert
the
thickness
gauge
into
the
clearance
between
the
valve
stem
end
and
the
adjusting
screw
on
the
r
ock-
er
arm
.

heck

play

after
valve
clearance
adjustment

• Reinstall
the
removed
part
s and add engine oil.
