GOVERNMENT SEARCH AND RESCUE (GSAR)
Marathon Search and Rescue (SAR) watches were developed to Canadian
Government requirements for use in SAR operations. Built to withstand extreme
conditions and match the capabilities of the user. First introduced in the early 1990s,
they are still in active use today.
Commonly known as the Government Search and Rescue (GSAR). The GSAR is the
most storied and venerable of our SAR Class of watches. It is highly sought after
from both warghters and collectors alike.

The GSAR is made from 316L surgical-grade stainless-steel with a screw-
down crown and a synthetic sapphire crystal that allow it to operate while
submerged down to 300 meters or 1000 feet underwater.
The GSAR uses self-contained tritium gas tubes to ensure constant
visibility in low light situations. A gas tube is placed on each hour marker
and hand. These tubes are self-illuminating and contain an isotope of
hydrogen, that will not dull down over time like photo-luminescent paint.

Inside the GSAR automatic is a Swiss-made, 26 jewels Sellita SW200
with Incabloc™Shock Absorber. These watches are hand-assembled
in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland and guarantee the highest level of
craftsmanship and accuracy.
For over 80 years Marathon has used Incabloc®shock absorbers to
protect the Marathon engine. This watch combines Military toughness
with Swiss craftsmanship in a watch that will get the job done, and look
good doing it.

1. Priming the movement.
Your GSAR is charged via the movement of your wrist. Out of the box, gently
move your watch back and forth to charge up the movement. Avoid hand-winding
where necessary, as this could cause damage to the movement.
2. Clean watch often.
Clean regularly using rubbing alcohol, a toothbrush and a microbre cloth.
GENERAL OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE 3. Always set it forward.
During events such as daylight-savings, you might be inclined to wind your
watch back an hour, however this can put undue stress on the movement of your
watch. Always move the hands forward to reach your desired time setting.
4. Service regularly.
Regular servicing every four to six years will help to keep your movement
running with Marathon-level precision. For servicing requests, contact our team

1. Unscrew and pull the crown from position 1 to position 4.
2. Turn the crown clockwise to adjust the time.
3. Ensure correct AM/PM settings so that the date wheel changes
at midnight and not mid-day.

1. Unscrew and pull the crown from position 1 to position 3.
2. Turn the crown clockwise to change the date.
CAUTION: Do not adjust the date wheel between 9pm and 3am as this may
damage the watch movement.

LOCKING THE CROWN
From position 2, push the crown into position 1 and rotate clockwise to lock the
crown back into place.
NOTE: The GSAR was designed to automatically hand-wind the watch while
screwing in the crown. Avoid hand-winding where necessary as this could cause
damage to the movement.
The crown must be screwed down in position 1 for optimal
water-resistance.

TIMING BEZEL
1. Rotate your bezel counterclockwise and align the 12 o'clock bezel marker with
the minute hand. This will set your start time.
2. Measure the minute hand against the bezel markers to count the elapsed time.
NOTE: When diving, use your dive watch as a support device alongside the
recommended diving tools suggested by PADI or BSAC.

and workmanship under normal use in accordance with care and usage instructions
for 2 years from date of purchase from an authorized distributor. This warranty
excludes damage from misuse, abuse or any irregular application. If we conrm a
defect, we will repair or replace it with the same item or one of similar value and
return it to you at no-charge.

La GSAR est fabriquée à partir d'acier inoxydable de qualité chirurgicale
316L avec une couronne vissée et un cristal saphir synthétique qui lui
permettent de fonctionner même en étant submergée à 300 mètres ou
1000 pieds sous l'eau.
La GSAR utilise des tubes à gaz tritium autonomes pour assurer une
visibilité constante dans les situations de faible luminosité. Un tube à gaz
est placé sur chaque marqueur horaire et sur chaque aiguille. Ces tubes
sont autoéclairants et contiennent un isotope d'hydrogène, qui ne ternira
pas avec le temps comme le fait la peinture photoluminescente.

À l’intérieur de la GSAR automatique se trouve un Sellita SW200 de
26 pierres fabriqué en Suisse avec amortisseur de choc Incabloc™. Ces
montres sont montées à la main à La Chaux-de-Fonds, en Suisse, et
garantissent le plus haut niveau d'artisanat et de précision.
Depuis plus de 80 ans, Marathon utilise les amortisseurs de chocs
Incabloc®pour protéger le moteur Marathon. Ce modèle combine la
solidité militaire à l'expertise suisse dans une montre qui réalisera le travail,
et qui aura un très bel aspect en le faisant.

1. Amorçage du mouvement
Votre GSAR se charge grâce au mouvement de votre poignet. Après l’avoir sortie
de la boîte, remuez doucement votre montre d’avant en arrière pour charger le
mouvement. Évitez le remontage manuel si nécessaire, car cela pourrait
endommager le mouvement.
2. Nettoyer fréquemment la montre.
Nettoyez régulièrement avec de l'alcool à friction, une brosse à dents et un chiffon
en microbre.
OPÉRATIONS GÉNÉRALES & ENTRETIEN 3. Toujours régler en avance.
Lors d'événements tels que les changements d'heure, vous pourriez vouloir
remonter votre montre d'une heure, mais cela peut mettre une tension excessive
sur le mouvement de votre montre. Avancez toujours les aiguilles pour atteindre
l'heure souhaitée.
4. Service régulier.
Un entretien régulier tous les quatre à six ans vous aidera à maintenir votre
mouvement en bon état avec une précision de niveau Marathon. Pour toute
