CHARGING THE BATTERY
CHARGING THE BATTERY
1. IMPORTANT: Make sure the LiFe battery is fully
charged before use! Failure to do so could result
in AnyLink losing power during ight, causing
signal loss and crash of the model.
The lithium-iron phosphate (LiFe) re-chargeable battery has
a nominal rating of 6.6 volts and 200mAh of capacity. ONLY
use a LiFe compatible charger with this rated voltage, with
a maximum charge current rating of 0.2 amps (200mA).
Recommended chargers include the LiFeSource® AC/DC
Balancing Charger (HCAM6375), and the Triton™EQ and
Triton2 EQ chargers by ElectriFly® (GPMM3155, 3156). See
your local hobby retailer for details.
2. Make sure the Power Adapter is NOT connected to the
host transmitter when charging.
Power Connector
3. Connect the power connector to the charger. Always
observe the correct polarity and read the charger’s
instructions before attempting to charge the battery.
4. If the charger is designed for multiple chemistries, make
sure to set the charger to “LiFe” mode.
5. Set the charger’s output voltage to 6.6V. Do NOT set the
charger to a voltage greater than this, as an over-charge
condition may result in permanent damage to the battery
and its surroundings, and cause personal injury!
6. Set the charger’s output current to 0.2A or 200mA
maximum.
7. Start the charge process.
Refer to the SAFETY AND HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS FOR
LIFE BATTERIES section at the end of this manual, and
similar safety instructions included with the charger for
information regarding LiFe batteries.
MOUNTING AND CONNECTIONS
MOUNTING AND CONNECTIONS
A. Using two pieces of hard lock mounting strips (included),
attach the Power Adapter to the rear of the Tx. Make sure
the Power Adapter’s connectors can easily reach the
AnyLink and transmitter’s trainer jack.
Signal Connector
B. Remove the protective boot from the signal connector.
Carefully insert the signal connector into the transmitter’s
trainer / D.S.C. jack. The Tx logic circuit will turn on
automatically at this time.
This Power Adapter allows the AnyLink SLT 2.4GHz Radio Adapter to function with the DX4e, DX5e, DX7s, DX8, and
DX10T transmitters from Spektrum®. The 6.6V lithium-iron phosphate rechargeable battery (LiFe) supplies power to
AnyLink, while the Tx draws power from its own battery.
Read these instructions – and the instructions included with the AnyLink adapter – entirely before
use! Damage resulting from misuse or modication will void the warranty on the AnyLink SLT
2.4GHz Radio Adapter and this Power Adapter.
When nished reading these instructions entirely, return to the ANYLINK OPERATION section of the instruction manual
included with the AnyLink SLT 2.4GHz Radio Adapter. Finish reading those instructions entirely before use.
™
™
WARNING! Do NOT turn the Spektrum Tx
power switch to the ON position at any time
while operating the model! This will cause
AnyLink to stop sending signals to the Tactic Rx, resulting
in a loss of control of the model. The Spektrum Tx power
switch should ALWAYS remain in the OFF position when
controlling a model with AnyLink. Make sure all connections
between AnyLink and theTx are solid physically and cannot
easily become dislodged at any time.
C. Insert the power connector into AnyLink’s INPUT jack.
Conrm that AnyLink’s LED turns on at this time.
IMPORTANT: Make sure the LiFe battery is fully
charged before use! Failure to do so could result
in AnyLink losing power during ight, causing
signal loss and crash of the model.
AnyLink should now be transmitting a signal, and ready
to control the Tactic SLT receiver inside the model. After
reading all remaining instructions below, return to the
ANYLINK OPERATION section of the instruction manual
included with the AnyLink SLT 2.4GHz Radio Adapter.
REMOVING POWER
REMOVING POWER
When a ying session has ended, with the model on the
ground and power safely removed from the model, power
must also be removed from the AnyLink and the Spektrum
transmitter. Failure to do so will drain this Power Adapter’s
LiFe battery and battery inside the Spektrum transmitter.
1. Disconnect the power connector from AnyLink’s INPUT
jack.
2. Disconnect the Power Adapter’s signal connector from
the Tx trainer jack. This will turn o the logic circuit inside
the Spektrum Tx.
IMPORTANT! ALWAYS make sure the protective
boot covers this Power Adapter’s signal
connector any time AnyLink is not in use.
TROUBLESHOOTING
TROUBLESHOOTING
Short flight time:
LiFe battery is weak and must be re-charged.
AnyLink LED will not light:
Power plug not properly connected to AnyLink.
Re-check connection. Battery is weak and must be
recharged.
Spektrum Tx will not function:
Signal plug not properly connected to Tx. Re-check
connection.
Neither Rx nor servos function:
Rx not properly bound to AnyLink. See AnyLink
instructions for details. Rx battery weak, or not
connected properly. Re-charge battery and re-check
all connections at Rx.
LiFe BATTERY SAFETY & HANDLING
LiFe BATTERY SAFETY & HANDLING
LiFe batteries must be handled dierently than NiCd, NiMH,
and LiPo batteries. Failure to follow these instructions
can quickly result in severe, permanent damage to the
battery. Tactic will not be held responsible for any and all
incidental damages that may result from improper use
of this adapter. Before and after every use of your LiFe
battery, inspect the pack carefully to ensure no physical
damage is evident, such as swelling, splitting or torn outer
heat shrink wrapper, or loose plugs and wires. Such signs
can often indicate a problem exists with the battery that
could lead to failure.
NEVER charge LiFe batteries with a non-LiFe compatible
charger.
NEVER charge this LiFe battery at currents or voltages
which exceed the ratings listed above.
NEVER leave a LiFe battery unattended at ANY TIME
while being charged or discharged.
NEVER allow this Power Adapter’s signal plug to make
contact with metal wristwatches, bracelets, or rings, which
can cause accidental short circuit conditions and possible
personal injury. Always place the boot over this plug when
not in use.
Do not continue charging a LiFe battery if the charger
fails to recognize full charge. Overheating, swelling, or
emission of smoke of LiFe cells indicates that a problem
exists. Disconnect the batteries from the charger
immediately and placed in safe location to cool.
Do not allow LiFe batteries to freeze or exceed 140°F
[60°C] at any time. Do not reuse a LiFe battery that you
suspect has been damaged in any way.
Do not store batteries near an open ame or heater,
or allow them to become punctured by objects such as
screwdrivers, hobby knives, etc.
Do not leave LiFe batteries lying loosely anywhere in a
full size automobile (in the trunk, backseat, oor, etc.). Never
leave them inside the vehicle indenitely, as temperatures
can easily rise far in excess of 120°F and damage the battery.
Do not put a LiFe pack in the pocket of any clothing!
Do not expose battery packs to direct sunlight for
extended periods of time.
Do not discharge LiFe cells below 2.5V, as it can result
in inadequate power for proper operation of AnyLink.
Always charge LiFe batteries in an area with adequate
ventilation.
Always discontinue charging a LiFe battery immediately
if you witness smoke or swelling of the battery, to prevent
rupture and/or leak of the battery. Disconnect the battery
and leave it in a safe location to cool (ideally outside).
Always store LiFe cells/packs in a reproof container
and place in a secure location away from children.
Always have a lithium-approved “Class D type” re
extinguisher or a bucket of sand available at all times.
DO NOT allow the battery’s internal chemicals to get in
the eyes or skin in the event the battery’s outer skin is
punctured, cracked, or torn.Wash aected skin with soap
and water immediately if they come in contact with the
electrolyte. Flush eyes with large amounts of water for 15
minutes and seek medical attention immediately! Do not
inhale gas vapors or leaked materials which may become
emitted from the battery. Leave the area and allow the
batteries to cool and the vapors to dissipate. Remove
spilled liquid with absorbent towels and dispose.
LiFe batteries are environmentally friendly. For safety
reasons, it’s best that LiFe cells be fully discharged before
disposal UNLESS cells are physically damaged. Batteries
must be cool before proceeding with disposal instructions.
