DESCRIPTION
The EXPTZ is a variable speed s ainless s eel PTZ camera s a ion specifically designed for Hazardous Area applica ions. The
design of he uni ensures he bes pro ec ion from ex ernal agen s along wi h easy ins alla ion and main enance service.
EXPTZ PTZ camera s a ions are equipped wi h he la es genera ion zoom module day/nigh and hermal imaging cameras,
bu hey are also available for Cus omer's specified cameras.
The EXPTZ camera s a ions have been designed and cer ified o he ATEX Direc ive 2014/34/EU o he following:

This produc is designed for use wi h flammable gases and vapours covered by appara us groups IIA, IIB and IIC wi h
empera ure classes T1 o T6 (environmen al empera ure up o 60°C), wi h flammable gases and vapours covered by
appara us groups IIA and IIB wi h empera ure classes T1 o T5 (environmen al empera ure up o 75°C) and wi h
flammable dus covered by appara us groups IIIA, IIIB and IIIC wi h empera ure T=85°C. The surface empera ure class of
he device was de ermined only wi h ambien air empera ure, wi hou aking in o considera ion direc sunligh . The IP
ra ing of he uni is IP66/IP67.
This produc mus only be ins alled by sui ably rained personnel in accordance wi h he relevan code of prac ice (e.g.
EN60079-14). These ins ruc ions are in ended for heir sole use.
CAUTION: I is recommended o use proper cer ified cable glands and connec ion cables (supplied upon reques ).
PRELI INARY RE ARKS

Prior o ins alla ion and opera ion, read carefully all ins ruc ions he in his manual and heed all warnings.
Unpack his equipmen and handle i carefully. If he package appears o be damaged, no ify he shipper immedia ely.
Use he original packaging o ranspor he uni . Disconnec power supply before moving i . In case of re urning he equipmen ,
he original packaging mus be used.
Any change performed on he uni ha is no previously approved by he manufac urer will void bo h he cer ifica ion and he
warran y.
Trying o manually force he wiper will resul in damaging he device and will void he warran y.
Fas eners used for he assembly shall be M5-08x12 grade A4-70.
WARNING: Hazardous moving par s: he device is remo ely con rolled and may change posi ion a any ime.
When ins alling, choose a place where moving par s could no hi anyone or any objec , crea ing hazardous si ua ions.

All he elec rical connec ions should be realized in a non-explosive a mosphere.
Ear h ground a achmen poin is a s ud M4-0.7 x16 A4-70 ISO 4762 wi h dual nu and dual serra ed washer. During ins alla ion i
is impor an o connec i o an appropria e grounding loca ion using a (minimum) 10 AWG copper s randed wire.
Before performing any opera ion, urn off he power. The ins alla ion of he uni can be performed only by qualified personnel in
accordance wi h he relevan code of prac ice (e.g. EN60079-14) and wi h all he relevan local and na ional s andards including
bu no limi ed o he use of special pipes, apes, sealan s, cables and glands.
Video and da a cables should no share he same condui wi h supply vol age cables. Whenever EMC is an issue, adequa ely
shielded cables mus be used.
When leaving he uni unused for long periods, disconnec supply cables.
For securi y reasons, do no ins all he uni in he proximi y of wa er con ainers and never push objec s or pour liquids in o he
uni . The uni can be safely used in damp environmen s or ou doors, as long as he connec ors are properly sealed.
The in ernal ransformer of he uni should never be used o power ex ernal devices.

When a fibre op ical cable is used on he equipmen i shall be sui ably pro ec ed agains mechanical damage ex ernal o he
equipmen (wire armoured cable, fi ed in condui , wi hin a cable ray e c.).
The camera mus be ins alled so ha he risk of impac wi h he glass window is low.

Make sure ha he ins alla ion surface can suppor a leas four imes he weigh of he uni in normal opera ing condi ions. In
case of excessive ex ernal s ress (e.g. vibra ion, s rong winds or impac ), he equipmen may need addi ional means of pro ec ion.
Proper s ainless s eel hardware should be carefully chosen o fas en he uni o he surfaces. Proper ools should be used during
he ins alla ion, in accordance o environmen al requiremen s.
Use cau ion when lif ing and assembling he uni . I is recommended ha non-slip pro ec ive gloves be worn during ins alla ion.
The uni could bear sharp edges.
Elec rical connec ions (such as plugs and cords) mus be pro ec ed from po en ial hazardous environmen al fac ors (e.g. foo
raffic, hi ing objec s).
Use appropria e ools for he purpose. The par icular na ure of he si e where he device is o be ins alled may require special ools
for ins alla ion.
Tigh ening/loosening screws using au oma ic ools (such as drill drivers) may resul in damaged hreads.
Af er he ins alla ion of he uni , he desiccan bag mus be placed inside he Pan & Til uni , assuring i won' be damaged by
ro a ing and moving par s.

An all-pole mains swi ch wi h an opening dis ance be ween he con ac s a leas 3mm in each pole mus be incorpora ed in he
elec rical ins alla ion be ween he equipmen and he main supply.
Isola ing swi ches, circui breakers or any equivalen device can be used as a disconnec ion swi ch. Such swi ch mus be very
quickly recognizable and readily accessible.
Connec ing GND/Ear h/PE o line or neu ral will resul in damaging he device and will void he warran y.
Fas en all he cables inside he housing wi h cables ies or o her fixing means o avoid he elec rical con ac wi h surrounding par s
in case ha erminal blocks screw off.
Ensure ha he uni case is properly ear hed, connec ing all he ear h ground s uds.

I is recommended ha all he connec ions and performed and es ed on a safe area labora ory before ins alling on field.
General information
The device can be con rolled from a PC wi h RS 485 conver er using a sui able program (for example: Visual S udio).
To preven damages and o assure a precise prese posi ion, he receiver slows he mo ion as i ge s near o he prese posi ion.
The receiver is equipped wi h four LEDs. The L1 LED (green) is on when he receiver is correc ly powered. The L2 LED (green) pulses when he
receiver receives da a. The L3 LED (yellow) pulses when he receiver sends da a. The L4 LED (red) pulses when he receiver is overhea ed.
Perform the electrical connections

Prese Recall 99 calibra es he Camera Po s in case of mo orized lens (needed he firs ime he camera is connec ed).
Comple e he ins alla ion performing he camera connec ion referring o he manual of he camera/housing.

Check carefully he supply vol age marked on he label. Incorrec Power Supply Vol age may damage he uni . Do no overload
he erminal connec ion, as i may cause a fire or elec rical shock hazard.
Open only he covers poin ed ou in his ins alla ion manual. O her covers should be open only by he manufac urer.

Make sure he hreads of he uni are free of dir and debris. A minimum of 10mm dep h and 5 hreads of engagemen mus be
main ained for all hreaded holes.
To main ain he cer ifica ion requiremen s and he IP ra ing of he uni , adequa e cer ified cable glands mus be used. Each unused
cable gland hole mus be closed using a proper plug sui able for he housing marking.
Keep he uni igh ly closed when opera ing.
Disconnec he equipmen from he supply circui and wai a leas 5 minu es before opening.
Do no connec he uni o a supply circui unless he ins alla ion is comple ed. Check he proper posi ion of he O-ring seals in
heir groove.

Perform the electrical connections on the housing
Ex rac he fron flange by removing he eigh screws. Be careful no o lose he O-Ring.
Slide he upper rail away from he lower rail.
Feed he cables hrough he rear cable glands (included upon reques ) and perform elec rical
connec ions on he board, according o he following indica ions:
- supply vol age (on "LINE" connec or: line on L pin and neu ral on N pin);
- video ou pu (on he camera).
Whenever all he connec ions are performed, close he housing.
Carefully place he O-ring in i s groove on he fron flange.

Fix he sunshield o he housing using he screw and he spacer provided in he ki
according o he image.
Remove PVC pro ec ive film from he sunshield af er ins alla ion.
Open he base junc ion box of he uni by removing he screws on he base op cover and perform he elec rical connec ions. Pay a en ion no
o ear he exis ing cabling.
Perform the electrical connections on the base junction box
Open he base junc ion box and perform he connec ions on he MF_RTX in erface board. Connec ions hrough he plug-in blocks are made by
Tecnovideo, while screw erminal blocks are used for he field ins alla ion. I mus be no ed ha each plug-in connec or is differen in shape
and/or colour o avoid any wrong connec ion. The connec ions should be performed according o he below:

Auxiliary functions (available on CR versions only)
The uni has 8 auxiliary func ions, as described below:
-Aux1 is used for Wiper ac iva ion only ( his func ion will ac iva e he wiper for approx. 10 seconds).
-Aux2 is used for Washer pump ac iva ion only ( his func ion will ac iva e he washer pump for approx. 5 seconds).
-Aux3 is used for Wash-Wiper STOPPABLE au oma ic cycle ( his func ion will ac iva e he wash-wiper cycle approx. 30 seconds).
-Aux4 is used for Wash-Wiper UNSTOPPABLE au oma ic cycle ( his func ion will ac iva e he wash-wiper cycle approx. 30 seconds).
-Aux5 is used for Au ofocus refresh (only for ex ernal mo orized lenses).
-Aux6 is fac ory reserved.
-Aux7 is fac ory reserved.
-Aux8 is fac ory reserved.
Password and reset button (available on CR versions only)
The uni is password pro ec ed o preven unin ended limi s se ing. To unlock his func ion, he password is 16325 (Prese Call 1+6+3+2+5;
every Prese mus be called wi hin 10 seconds from he previous one). Limi s unlock is enabled un il a disable password is se .
To lock he limi s modifica ion, he password is 65324 (Prese Call 6+5+3+2+4; every Prese mus be called wi hin 10 seconds from he previous
one).
Pushing S1 bu on on he eleme ry receiver board for a leas 15 seconds will se he fac ory defaul limi s and lock he limi s modifica ion.
Default limits
The uni is se wi h defaul values o achieve he following angles: +/- 90° Pan (lef /righ ); +/- 90° Til (up/down). CR versions do no have defaul
pan limi s.
Fac ory limi s are abou +/- 175° Pan (lef /righ ) and +/- 100° Til (up/down). CR versions do no have fac ory pan limi s.

Preset
Prese from 1 o 69 and from 100 o 150 can be used o se /call specific posi ions. The o her prese s are fac ory reserved and canno be used o
se /call specific posi ions.
On he firs command received, he uni will perform a zero-axis (in which he uni won' accep any fur her command). Se ing prese 84 changes
his behaviour and make he uni perform he zero-axis on s ar up. Se ing prese 74 swi ches back he behaviour of he uni o perform he
zero-axis on he firs command received af er he s ar up. Calling prese 92 performs a pan and il zero-axis, while call 90 performs a pan zero
axis and 91 performs a il zero axis. Calling prese 93 moves he uni o zero posi ion (0°) bo h on pan and il axis.
Prese Call 87 ac iva es he fron window cleaning cycle on CR versions wi h washer sys ems (similar o Prese Call 200).
Prese Call 88 ac iva es auxiliary ou pu AUX1 (wiper). Au o off af er 10 seconds.

Special auxiliary functions mode (available on CR versions only)
The uni has a Special auxiliary func ions mode. This mode is useful when nei her auxiliary ou pu nor prese above 86 are available.
In his mode, he uni works as described below:
Prese Call 1 ac iva es wiper (same as auxiliary ou pu AUX1 and Prese Call 88). Au o off af er 10 seconds.
Prese Call 2 ac iva es washer (same as auxiliary ou pu AUX2 and Prese Call 89). Au o off af er 5 seconds.
Prese Call 3 ac iva es he fron window cleaning cycle on CR versions wi h washer sys ems (same as auxiliary ou pu AUX3 and Prese Call 200).
To en er Special auxiliary func ions mode, he password is 11163 (Prese Call 1+1+1+6+3; every Prese mus be called wi hin 10 seconds from
he previous one).
To exi Special auxiliary func ions mode, he password is 22251(Prese Call 2+2+2+5+1; every Prese mus be called wi hin 10 seconds from he
previous one).

SETTING THE UNIT ADDRESS
The 8 way dip-swi ch on he eleme ry receiver DIS1) can be used o se up he uni address (binary). When
a swi ch is on he ON posi ion, he rela ive digi has value 1, o herwise he value is 0. Swi ch 1 is referred o
he leas significan digi (2

), while swi ch 8 is referred o he mos significan digi (2

For example, he address 13 (00001101 in binary) can be se up urning ON he swi ch 1, 3 and 4 (see figure).
CLOSING THE UNIT
Fix he cable glands according o he manufac urer ins ruc ions. A minimum of 10mm dep h and 5 hreads of engagemen mus be main ained
for all hreaded holes.
Whenever all he connec ions are performed, close he uni . Carefully check he proper posi ion of he O-rings in heir groove.

AINTENANCE
i
Please read and be familiar wi h he following ins ruc ions before servicing he uni .
Ensure proper opera ing condi ion of he uni performing safe y checks upon comple ion of main enance.
Disconnec he uni from he supply circui before cleaning. Do no use caus ic or abrasive cleaning produc s.
Use only replacemen par s specified by he manufac urer.

Inspec ion and main enance of he equipmen mus be carried ou in accordance wi h he applicable s andards (i.e. EN
60079-17). Repair of he equipmen mus be carried ou in accordance wi h he applicable s andards (i.e. EN 60079-19).
Disconnec he uni from he supply circui and repor o qualified service personnel whenever any damage o he
equipmen has been de ec ed.
Do no use elec rical equipmen ha seem worn or old.
This equipmen has been designed o fi in harsh environmen s requiring li le or no main enance. Sugges ed inspec ion in erval is 6
mon hs, bu ex remely harsh environmen s may require more frequen inspec ion and main enance checks. On each inspec ion check
he O-ring seals and he window wiper blade. Replace hem if necessary. On each inspec ion check he drive mo ors and he adequa e
lubrica ion/greasing of he gears. Apply lubrican /grease if necessary.
Regularly perform the following routine activities:
- Clean he glass: use wa er or a liquid de ergen ha will no genera e a hazardous si ua ion.
- Clean he germanium window: remove he pro ec ive guard unscrewing he 3 screws using a no sparking hex wrench. Use wa er or a
liquid de ergen ha will no genera e a hazardous si ua ion. Be careful no o scra ch he carbon coa ing. Using e hyl alcohol,
solven s, hydrogena ed hydrocarbons, s rong acids or alkalis will irreparably damage he germanium window. Once comple ed
he cleaning, properly reassemble he pro ec ive guard.
- Clean he uni : he layer of fil h upon he uni should never exceed 5mm hick. Use a dry or damp clo h. Do no use compressed air.
- Check elec rical connec ions: check cables and elec rical connec ions for in egri y and igh ness. If he cables seem wore or damaged,
refer o he ex raordinary main enance sec ion.
- Check moun ing accessories: check moun ing bol s and screws for in egri y and igh ness. Replace or igh en any damaged/loose
moun ing hardware.
Extraordinary maintenance:
Any in erven ion which is no lis ed in he rou ine ac ivi ies lis mus be done in absence of po en ially explosive a mosphere.
Any repair or replacemen mus be done by, or under supervision of, Tecnovideo. Use only original spare par s.
The manufac urer declines all liabili y for any damage resul ing from ampering, use of non-original spare par s and service carried ou
wi hou following he direc ives of he presen manual.
If he equipmen is likely o come in o con ac wi h aggressive subs ances, hen i is he responsibili y of he user o ake sui able
precau ions ha preven i from being adversely affec ed, hus ensuring ha he ype of pro ec ion is no compromised.
Aggressive subs ances: acidic liquids or gases ha may a ack me als, or solven s ha may affec polymeric ma erials.
