PRELIMINARIESINTRODUCTION
The BB112DB is a full-function mains powered CD
boombox with iPod docking station.
The radio receives FM stereo stations and an AUX
jack on the back panel enables connection of other
external sources such as personal audio equipment
and computers.
The BB112DB may be powered from the AC mains or by
batteries for portable use.
UNPACKING
Carefully unpack the unit. If it is damaged, please
return it to your nearest Tesco store for replacement.
Remember to take your purchase receipt with you.
Retain the User Handbook. If you pass the unit on to a
third party make sure you pass on the handbook.
We suggest you retain the packaging. If you dispose of
it, do so having regard to any recycling regulations in
your area.

FITTING BATTERIES
The battery compartment is on the underside of the
unit.
Press the battery catches in the direction shown,1.
then lift o the battery cover..
FITTING BATTERIES
Referring to the previous section, t 6 x ‘C’/’UM2’
batteries into the battery compartment.
Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a
long time to avoid the danger of leakage.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
If the sound is distorted or poor quality when battery
powered, the batteries may require replacement.
NOTE: Never mix old and new batteries or batteries of
dierent types. Batteries should always be replaced as
sets.
CLOCK OPERATION IN STANDBY MODE
When set to Standby, the clock will continue to display.
This will consume a little power from the batteries
when battery powered.
To save battery power, always remove the batteries
when in Standby mode unless you need the clock to
be displayed.
BATTERY OPERATION BATTERY DISPOSAL
Dispose of used batteries with regard to the recycling
regulations in your area. Do NOT short circuit batteries
or throw them into water, the general rubbish or in a
re.
Weak batteries can leak and damage the unit. Replace
them in good time!
Fit six ‘C’/’UM2’ batteries into the battery2.
compartment, observing polarity as shown.

CONNECTING POWER
Check that the mains voltage marked on the rating•
plate on the base of the unit is the same as the
voltage in your area.
Plug the AC power cord into the AC inlet.•
Plug the mains plug into the wall socket and switch•
the mains power on.
The display will light, ashing --:-- until the clock is set.
SETTING THE CLOCK
Check that the unit is set to Standby before setting the
clock.
Press and• hold the TIME/SCAN button.
The display will ash 24H (24 hour display).
Press the• }button repeatedly to choose 24 hour
or 12H (12 hour) clock display.
Press the• TIME/SCAN button to conrm.
The time will be displayed, the hour digits will ash.
Press the• }or {button repeatedly to set the
hour digits to the correct time.
Press the• TIME/SCAN button to conrm.
The time will be displayed, the minutes digits will ash.
Press the• }or {button repeatedly to set the
minute digits to the correct time.
Press the• TIME/SCAN button to conrm.
Your time settings will be saved and the time displayed.
POWER CONTROL
To switch the unit on:
Press the• button.
The unit will switch on.
To switch the unit o:
Press the• button.
The unit will switch o and the time will be displayed.
NOTE: When the unit is operational, the display can
be switched to display the time by pressing the TIME/
SCAN button briey.
Environmental protection:
The unit will automatically turn o if left in standby
mode for more than 15 minutes. If you disconnect the
power from the unit during this period you need to
wait for 15 seconds before re-connecting the unit to
the power.
ADJUSTING THE VOLUME
To increase the volume:
Turn the• VOLUME control knob on the top panel
clockwise.
To decrease the volume:
Turn the• VOLUME control knob on the top panel
anti-clockwise.
When the volume level is changed, the volume level
is displayed in the range ‘U00’ (minimum) to ‘U30’
(maximum).
FUNCTION SELECT
Press the• FUNCTION button repeatedly to select
one of the functions available.
An indicator is displayed to show the function selected.

LISTENING TO FM RADIO
If you can hear a lot of background noise when playing
the station, the signal may be weak.
You may be able to improve the signal strength by
adjusting the position of the telescopic aerial or moving
the radio to a dierent position.
PRESET STATIONS
Your radio can store up to 20 of your favourite stations
as presets for quick recall.
To automatically store the station presets:
Press and hold the• TIME/SCAN button.
The radio will scan the FM band and store each station
found as a preset. Up to 20 stations will be stored.
To manually store a preset:
Tune to the station you want to store as a preset.•
Press the• PROG. button.
The Preset Indicator ‘P’ and a ashing preset number will
be displayed.
Press the• }or {button to change to the preset
number you want to store.
When the correct preset number is displayed, press•
the PROG. button to store the station.
To browse preset stations:
Press the• }or {button to step through the
preset stations stored.
The radio will re-tune to the preset station number
selected.
To listen to FM radio:
Lift the carrying handle, then lift and fully extend•
the telescopic aerial at the back of the unit.
Press the• FUNCTION button repeatedly until FM
mode is selected.
Station search:
Press and hold the• TUNING or button to
search up or down the band. The radio will stop
automatically when the next station is reached.
Manual step tuning:
Press the• TUNING or button briey to tune
up or down the band in 50kHz steps.
Fine adjust the tuning so that the station plays clearly.

iPhone/iPod ADAPTORS FINDING AN ADAPTOR
Before docking your iPhone/iPod you must rst check
if it has a docking connector. Early iPod models do
not have one and cannot be docked to your unit. The
docking connector is located on the base of the iPhone/
iPod as shown below.
If you don’t have a dock adaptor
If your iPhone/iPod was not supplied with a standard
dock adaptor, or if you have lost the adaptor, you can
buy one from Apple on-line. To determine the exact
model of your iPhone/iPod, refer to this web-link -
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353. You can then
browse the iPhone/iPod accessories page on the Apple
website to nd an adaptor for your iPhone/iPod model
that can be purchased on-line.
When your iPhone/iPod was new it may have
been supplied with a standard dock adaptor in the
packaging. If so, t the adaptor by pressing it gently
into the Docking Bay as shown.

Before docking your iPhone/iPod, you must rst t the
correct adaptor to the docking bay. Each iPhone/iPod
adaptor matches the shape of a particular iPhone/iPod
and is necessary to ensure that your iPhone/iPod is
securely held when docked.
FITTING THE ADAPTOR
NOTE: Do not dock an iPhone/iPod without tting the
correct adaptor, you may damage the iPhone/iPod and
your unit.

DOCKING AN iPhone/iPod PLAYING FROM AN
iPhone/iPod
To dock your iPod:
Check that the correct iPod adaptor is tted to the•
docking bay.
Locate the iPod on the Docking Connector and•
press it gently home.
To remove your iPod from the dock:
Grip the iPod at the sides.•
Lift the iPod gently from the dock.•
Playing from a docked iPod:
Press the• FUNCTION button repeatedly until iPod
mode is selected.
Set the iPod to play.•
You can also operate some iPod functions from the
control panel.
iPod playback functions:
Press the• /, button to switch between Play and
Pause mode at any time.
Press the• }or {button to select the next or
previous track on your iPod.
To change repeat modes:
Press the• REPEAT button repeatedly to step
through the repeat mode options available.
The repeat mode set will show on the iPod display.
CHARGING AN iPhone/iPod
When an iPod is docked and power is connected to the
unit, the iPod will charge automatically.
If you own an iPod Shue, a model without dock
connector or prefer to connect your iPhone/iPod by
cable, you can connect the sound output to the Aux In
jack on the rear panel.
CONNECTING OTHER iPod
MODELS (INC SHUFFLE)
Using a 3.5mm stereo jack to jack cable (not•
supplied), connect one end of the cable to the
headphone socket of the iPhone/iPod, and the
other end to the Aux In jack on the back panel.

Aux In jack.
NOTE:-The volume control of the iPhone/iPod must be
turned up when playing through the Aux In jack.

PLAYING A CD
Selecting CD operation:
Press the• FUNCTION button repeatedly until CD
mode is selected.
Loading a disc:
Press the‘OPEN/CLOSE’area on the CD door to open•
the door.
Holding the disc by the edges, place the disc on the•
turntable in the centre of the CD loading bay with
the label uppermost. Press the centre of the disc
into place on the turntable with a click.
Close the CD door and lock it shut by pressing the•
‘OPEN/CLOSE’area.
The unit will read the CD, display the total number of
tracks on the disc, then start playing from the start of
the disc.
Removing a disc:
Ensure that the disc is stopped.•
Press the‘OPEN/CLOSE’area on the CD door to open•
the door.
Holding the disc by the edges, lift the disc o the•
turntable and place it back in the case.
Close the CD door and lock it shut by pressing the•
‘OPEN/CLOSE’area.
Play/Pause:
Press the• /, button at any time to switch between
Play and Pause modes.
The play indicator will appear on the display when
playing. This display will ash during pause.
Stopping CD play:
Press the• .button while the CD is playing.
The CD will stop.
Selecting tracks:
Press the• }or {button to select the next or
previous track.
NOTE:- When pressing {while playing a track, the
rst press will replay the current track.
Fast search:
Press and• hold the }or {button to fast search
forward or backward through a track.
The track will search at high speed.

Repeat play:
Press the• REPEAT button to step through the
available repeat modes - ‘Repeat’, ‘Repeat all’ or
‘Repeat o’.
The mode selected will be shown on the display.
Selecting ‘Repeat’ will continuously repeat the current
track.
Selecting ‘Repeat all’ will repeat the entire disc
continuously.
NOTE: If play is stopped, repeat modes are cleared.

CD PROGRAM PLAY
You can load a disc and store a programmed selection
of up to 20 tracks to play from the disc in your preferred
sequence.
To set a program:
Programs are stored when the disc is stopped.
Load a disc and stop play.•
Press the• PROG. button.
The display will ash P01 (the position of this track in
the program).
The AUX IN jack may be used to connect sound sources
with a Line or Headphone analogue output to play
through your unit. These may include -
iPod models that cannot be docked to the unit•
MP3 players•
CD walkman players•
Tape walkman players•
Personal computers or laptops•
Connecting to the AUX IN jack
Connect a stereo 3.5mm jack cable (not supplied)
between the headphone or LINE/AUX output of the
personal audio player and the AUX IN jack on the top
panel.
Playing the AUX source:
Press the• FUNCTION button repeatedly until AUX
mode is selected.
Set your personal audio player/computer to PLAY.•
Set the listening volume to the level you want with•
the volume control.
If there is no sound or if the volume level is not loud
enough, you may need to increase the volume setting
on your personal audio player/computer.

Select the track number you want to program by•
pressing the }or {button.
To save this track into the program sequence, press•
the PROG. button.
The display will ash P02 (this is the second track in the
program).
Repeat these two steps until you have stored all the•
tracks in the program sequence.
Playing the program:
Press the• /, button to start the program playing.
The program will begin to play and PROG. will show on
the display to show that a program is being played.

You can navigate through the tracks stored in the•
program by pressing the }or {button.
Clearing the program:
Press the• .button to stop play.
Press the• .button again.
Repeat modes:
Repeat modes may be selected when a program is
playing.

CARE AND CLEANING
All care and cleaning operations should be carried out
with the unit unplugged from the mains power.
The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a barely
damp cloth and then dried carefully. Never use
abrasives, abrasive cloths or chemical solvents .

TROUBLESHOOTING
Poor quality radio reception
Theaerial signal maynotbeadequate.Try repositioning
the telescopic aerial.
No sound/low volume from AUX source:
Check that the volume control is turned up on the AUX
source.
Poor quality radio reception when an iPhone is
docked:
You may need to set the iPhone to ‘airplane’ mode
when docked.
Poor quality or distorted sound when battery
operated:
The batteries may need replacement..
