CONTENTS PRELIMINARIESINTRODUCTION
The BB20 is a full-function, stereo Boombox for replay of
audio CDs or radio. The radio receives FM stereo which is
switchable to mono.
The BB20 also includes an AUX input for connection of a
mobile phone, tablet or computer (source must have a
headphone jack or AUX output).
The BB20 may be powered from the AC mains or by batteries
(not supplied) for fully portable use.
UNPACKING
Carefully unpack the unit. Remove any protective packaging
from inside the CD compartment.
CONTENTS
The carton should contain:

• Power cord
• Operating Manual
If any items are missing or damaged, contact your nearest
TESCO store for a replacement. Have your receipt ready when
you call.
Retain the packaging. If you dispose of it, do so having regard
to any recycling regulations in your area.
Retain the User Handbook. If you pass the unit on to a third
party make sure you pass on the handbook.
LOCATION
Place the unit on dry stable surface away from heat and damp
and where it is unlikely to fall or be knocked over.

FITTING BATTERIES
1. Press the two catches to open the battery cover.
2. Lift the cover o.
Connecting power
• Check that the mains voltage marked on the rating plate
on the back of the unit is the same as the voltage in your
area.
• Plug the AC power cord into the AC inlet
• Plug the mains plug into the wall socket.

3. Fit six ‘C’/’UM2’ batteries (not supplied) into the battery
compartment, observing polarity as shown.
4. Re-t the battery cover.
Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a long
time to avoid the danger of leakage.
NOTE: Never mix old and new batteries or batteries of
dierent types. Batteries should always be replaced as sets.
BATTERY DISPOSAL
Dispose of used batteries with regard to the recycling
regulations in your area. Do NOT short circuit batteries or
throw them into water, the general rubbish or in a re.
Weak batteries can leak and damage the unit. Replace them
in good time!
For portable operation, t a set of batteries.The batteries will
power the unit whenever the AC power cord is disconnected
from the back panel.

• Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly to select the
function you want.
The display will show the selected function briey -
• rAdI for FM radio
• rAd2 for AM radio
• cd for CD player
• AU for AUX IN

SETTING THE VOLUME
• Press or hold the VOLUME + or VOLUME - button to
increase or decrease the volume.
Thevolumelevelwill bedisplayedbetween U00(minimum)
and U30 (maximum).
Switching on
• Press the POWER button to switch the unit on.
The display will show the last function selected.
Switching o
• Press the POWER button to switch the unit o.
The display will switch o.
Auto standby
Auto standby is an energy saving feature. If nothing is playing
for 10 minutes, the power will be automatically switched o.
To cancel auto-standby and re-start the player, press the
POWER button.

RADIO PRESETS
There are 20 preset stations for each band you can use to store
your favourite stations for quick selection.
Automatic preset storage
The radio can scan the band and store all stations found as
presets (up to the maximum of 20 stations per band).
• Select FM or AM radio.
• Extend the aerial if you selected FM radio.
• Press and hold the /, button
The radio will scan the band automatically and store all
stations found as presets.
When the scan is complete the radio will return to play
preset 1.
Manual preset storage
• Tune to the station you want to store.
• Press the PROG button.
The display will show ‘P’ with a ashing preset number.
• Press }or {to nd the preset number you want to
store.
• Press PROG again to store the station as this preset
number.
The preset station will be stored.
Playing a preset station
To play a preset station you already stored.
• Press the }or {button until the preset number you
want is displayed.
After a short delay the stored preset station will tune
automatically.
LISTENING TO FM RADIO
• Extend the aerial fully.
• Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until rAd1 is
displayed.
After a few seconds the display will change to show the
tuned frequency in MHz.
Scanning for a station
• Press and hold theTUNING + or TUNING - button.
The radio will scan up or down the band and will stop
scanning when a station is found.
• Press and hold the button again to continue scanning and
skip to the next station.
Manual and ne tuning
• Press theTUNING + or TUNING - button briey to tune up
or down the band in 50kHz steps.
Setting the radio to mono
When listening to a weak or distant FM station in stereo, there
may be a high level of background noise. In this case, setting
mono reception may reduce the level of background noise.
• Press the REPEAT button repeatedly to switch between
mono and stereo reception.
The stereo indicator (ST) will be displayed when the radio
is receiving stereo.
Adjusting the aerial for best reception
The telescopic aerial is on a swivel base.
• Move the aerial position to nd the best reception for the
station you are listening to.
The display shows CD track and play mode status.
LISTENING TO AM RADIO
• There is no need to extend the telescopic aerial for AM
radio reception.
• Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until rAd2 is
displayed.
After a few seconds the display will change to show the
tuned frequency in kHz.
Scanning for a station
• Press and hold theTUNING + or TUNING - button.
The radio will scan up or down the band and will stop
scanning when a station is found.
• Press and hold the button again to continue scanning and
skip to the next station.
Manual and ne tuning
• Press theTUNING + or TUNING - button briey to tune up
or down the band in 9kHz steps.
Adjusting the aerial for best reception
The aerial for AM radio is inside the case and is directional.
• Rotate the position of the radio to nd the best reception
for the station you are listening to..

PLAYING A CD
Play/pause
• Press the /, button to change between play and pause
mode during playback.
When paused, the display will ash the elapsed time of the
track playing
Stopping playback
• Press the .button during playback.
Playback will stop. The total number of tracks will be
displayed.
Selecting tracks
• Press the }or {button briey to select the next or
previous track. Pressing {while playing a track will
replay the current track.
Fast search
• Press and hold the }or {button to fast search forward
or backward through a track.
The track will search at high speed and the elapsed time of
the track will be displayed.
Repeat play
• Press the REPEAT button repeatedly to step through the
available modes.
• REPEAT is displayed.
The current track will repeat continually.
• REPEAT ALL is displayed
All tracks will repeat.
• RDM (Random) is displayed.
The tracks will be played in a random sequence.

1. Program indicator Selecting CD operation
• Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until cd is
displayed.
If a CD is already loaded, the disc will start to play.
Loading a CD
• Press OPEN/CLOSE on the CD compartment lid.
• Holding the disc by the edges, place the disc on the
turntable in the centre of the CD loading bay with the
label uppermost. Press the centre of the disc into place on
the turntable with a click.
• Close the CD door and press OPEN/CLOSE to lock it shut.
The unit will read the disc and display the total number of
tracks on the disc.
Play will begin automatically from the rst track.
When playing the display will switch between the number
and elapsed time of the track playing.
Removing a disc
• Ensure that the disc is stopped.
• Open the CD door.
• Holding the disc by the edges, lift the disc o the
turntable and place it back in the case.
• Close the CD door and press OPEN/CLOSE to lock it shut.

STORING A PROGRAM
You can store a program selection of up to 20 tracks to play in
your preferred sequence.
To set a program
NOTE: Programs can only be set when play has been stopped.
• Load a CD and wait for it to read.
• Press the .button to stop the disc.
• Press the PROGRAM button.
The display will ash PGM and show ‘P01’ (program 1), the
position of this track in the program).
• Select the track number you want to program by pressing
the }or {button.
• To save this track into the program sequence, press the
PROGRAM button.
The display will show P02, indicating that you are now
entering the second track in the program sequence.
• Repeat the previous two steps until you have stored all
the tracks in the program sequence.
PROGRAM PLAY
Playing the program
• Press the /, button to start the program playing.
Selecting tracks
• You can navigate through the tracks stored in the
program by pressing the }or {button.
Clearing the program
• If playing, press the .button to stop playback.
• Press the .button.
The program will clear.
Repeat
Repeat modes can be selected once program play has started.

Care and cleaning
All care and cleaning operations should be carried out with
the unit unplugged from the mains power.
The surface of the unit can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.
Never use abrasives, abrasive cloths or chemical solvents.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Poor quality FM radio reception
The aerial signal may not be adequate. Try repositioning the
telescopic aerial or setting to mono.
Poor quality AM radio reception
The aerial signal may not be adequate. Try rotating the unit
to improve the signal.
Skipping when playing a CD
The CD playing surface may be dirty or marked with nger
prints.Try cleaning the CD with a CD cleaner.
WARRANTY
Your Tesco appliance is covered by a warranty for 12 months
from the date of purchase. If a fault develops during this
period, please contact the TESCO electrical help line. Please
have your original purchase receipt with you when you call.
This warranty in no way aects your consumer rights.

AUX IN
The Aux input may be used to connect sound sources with
a Line/Aux or Headphone analogue output to play through
your unit.These may include -
• Mobile phones or tablets
• Personal audio players
• Personal computers or laptops
Connecting to the AUX IN jack
• Connect a stereo 3.5mm jack cable (not supplied)
between the headphone or LINE/AUX output of the
source and the AUX IN jack on the top panel.
Playing the source
• Press the FUNCTION button repeatedly until AU is
displayed.
• Set the source to PLAY.
• Set the listening volume to the level you want with the
volume control.
If there is no sound or if the volume level is not loud enough,
you may need to increase the volume setting on the source.
