Connecting the Speakers

wire
connected

inputtenninals
shouldbe connectedto the respective
negativeoutputterminalsof theamplifier.
Thespeakersshouldbeconnectedtothe
amplifierwith
high
quality
cable
toensureminimallossof power
and
proper
controlbytheamplifier.lf thespeakersarebeing
connectedto a vacuumtube amplifier with various
impedancetaps,
the

ohmtap
will usually
give
thebest
results.

The
CS2.2
is
avery
highquality
soundreproducer
and
will benefitfiom usewith
thebest
associatecl
equiprnent.
Since
ir is
extremely
accurate.it will reveal
sourcesof distortion
generated
elsewhereinthesystem.For
example,
distortionresuiting
fiom
poor
recordings
orinferior
electronics
will bereproduced
accurately.
Also.
the
quality
oftheinterconnect
cables
and
speaker
cableswill significantly
affectthe
perfonnance
ofthe
system.
Power Requirements
It isimportant
tohave
enough
power
to
play
atthelevelyou
desirewithout
distortion.
If high
sound
levels
aredesired,
the
CS2.2s
aredesigned
tobeusedwith
amplifiersrated
up
to250watts
perchannel.
If youplay
the
speakers
moreloudly
than
the
volume
the
arnplifiercan
cleanly
produce,
the
amplifierwill produce
overloacl
(clipping)
clistortion.
This
clistortion
isactually
non-musical
adtlitiottul
energvand
sinceit is
concentrated
inthe
highfrequency
region
where
thespeakeris
least
abletohandle
it,tweeters
canbe
darnagedinextreme
cases.
Keepinmind
thatsoundclLrctlitt
is
usuallymuch
more
important
thansound
cluantitt'.There
can
belarge
differences
inthesonic
peformance
oftwoamplifiers
ofequal
power,
andthisis
moreimportant
thernlarge
dif-ferences
inpower.
Most
everyone
will be
happierwith
a50watt
amplifierof high
sonic
quality
than

ofmediocre
sonic
quality.
For

determined
onlybythe
loudspeaker's
etficiency,butalsoby the
volume
desired
andthesize
