Speaker
Placement
The
CS2sare
relativelynon-critical
toroom
placement
andwill
providegood
results
almostanywhere.
However,
werecommendtheybe
placed
at
least
one
footfromawall
andat
leastthreefeetfrom
acorner,They
perform
bestwhen
positioned
evenfarther
from
all
walls.
as
thisminimizes
early
reflections
and
roomresonancesandso
provides
the
most
open,
uncolored
reproduction
as
well
asthe
mostaccuratebass
response.

Connecting
the
Speakers
The
CS2
s
input
terminals
are
located
on
thebottomof
the
speaker
To
gain
accessto
these
the
speakershouldbe
laid
on
its
back

essential
for
proper
performance

in
thesame
polarity

stabilizeroins.
The
stabilizer
pins,
eitheroftwotypes,
are
pushed
intothree
pre-drilled
holesinthebaseof
eachspeaker
The
pointedpins
are
for
speakers
thatwill
ire
placed
ona
carpetedsur-
faceThe
pointpenetrates
the
carpetand
allowsthespeakerto
restfirmlyonthe
floor.
Therounded
stabilizer
pins
are
for
speakersthatare
placed
onahard,unevensurface,
Thethree
pinsprovide
astablefoundation
which
eliminatessome
obscuringof
informa-
tionand
produces
acleaner,morearticulatesound.

There
aresome
applications
where
the
stabilizer
pins
will
not
bringan
improvement
in
soundbutmay
actually
makeitworse.
This
situationoccurswhen
the
flooritself
isnotof
rigid
construction
andvibrates
when
connectedto
thespeakersviathe
stabilizer
pins,
We
encourage
you
toexperiment
to
determinefor
yourself
wnether
or
notthisis
thecase.
Werecommend
that
you
determine
the
position
of
your
speakers
before
inserting
the
pointed
stabilizer
pins.
Toinsert
the
pins
tiltthe
speaker
lorward
and
push
thetwo
back
pins
f
ully
into
the1
"deepholes
locatedin
eachback
cornerofthe
plinth
Thenrockthe
speaker
backward
andinsert
thefront
pin.
Finally,
press
lirmly
onthetopofthe
speaker
with
aslightrocking
motion
untilthe
pinspenetrate
the
carpetcompletelyTo
checkthat
the
pins
arefirmly
seated,lightly
tapthe
backandsideolthe
speaker.
There
shouldbe
nomovement
andthe
speaker
shouldfeel
solid
lf
thespeaker
ismoved
with
the
prns
in
place,
careshould
betakento
lift
thespeakers
straightupward
until
the
pins
have
clearedthe
carpet.Also,the
speakershouldbe
lowered
straight
down
ontothe
carpet

be
cautioned
thatthe
pointed
pins
canbedangerousifnot
used
with
care.
They
cancause
small
dentsinhardwood
floorsanditis
possible
todamage
carpets
if
the
speakersaremoved
incorrectly
with
the
pins
in
place.
Associated
Equipment
The
CS2is
avery high
quality
soundreproducer
andwillbenefitfrom
use
with
thebest
associatedequipment.
Sinceitis
extremely
accurate,itwillreveal
sources
of
distortion
generated
elsewhere
inthe
system.For
example,
distortion
resultingfrom
cartndgemis-
alignment
orinferior
electronics
will
bereproduced
accurately.Also,the
quality
of
patch
cordsand
speaker
cableswill
significantly
effectthe
performance
of
the
system.
The
Driving
Amplifier
The
CS2swill
usually
provide
good
dynamicrange
withamplifiers
ofonly
moderate
power.
For
normal
listening
levelsin
average
size
rooms,40

provide
good
results
However,
itisimportant
not
toattempt
ahighervolumelevel thantheamprr-

capable
of
providing

inthe
amplifier
producing
overload
distortion
that
coulddamage
the
speaker

recommend
a
value
of3amps
ofthenormal
blowtype

amp)
Althoughfuses
offer
some
protection,
they
donotnecessarily
protect
the
speakeragainstalltypesof
overload
and
alsointroduce
audible
degradationofthe
signal.
The
CS2
is
a
very
rugged
loudspeaker
thatcan
onlybe
damagedbyextreme
overloadingandfusingisnot
necessary.
Cabinet
Finish
Care
The
cabinets
possess
a
high
quality
lacquerfinish
that
is
bothbeautiful
anddurable.
However,
anywood
finish
canbedamagedby
excessivemoisture,
dryness,
or
directsun-
light.The
finish
canbe
cleaned
and
renewed
with
any
high
quality
furniture
polish.

speaker,

pull
the
grille
frame
awayfromthe
speaker,
