Usage
The product is compatible for use with every type of bed. Lay ThevoCalm with the red side facing upwards on the
existing bed slats or bed base.
Important hint: ThevoCalm can also be used without a pre-existing slatted frame. In this case the supporting sur-
faces along the sides of the bed base must be at least 13 cm (5.1 ") wide.
Attention: Beds with side-rails may require additional side-rail height extenders.
Disinfection methods and cleaning information
Mattress
The washable covers are easy to remove thanks to an integrated zip.
Jersey cover (fabric cover)
• washable at 65 °C (149 °F) • suitable for tumble dryers
Incontinence cover (rubberised cover)
• washable at 65 °C (149 °F) • suitable for tumble dryers• to be cleaned by wiping desinfection
Disinfection
We recommend two disinfection methods accepted by the Robert Koch Institute:
- the vacuum/steam/vacuum method up to a maximum temperature of 110 °C (230 °F)
- the steam flow method up to a temperature of 110 °C (230 °F)
Important hint: A thermal treatment over 110 °C (230 °F) causes a premature ageing and deformation of the plastic
parts and should therefore be avoided. Please make sure when using chemical disinfectants that they
are suitable for plastic.
Application risks and contraindications
ThevoCalm was designed to support movement sequences and optimize the sleep behavior of persons
with Parkinson’s Disease. ThevoCalm offers a firm surface for lying. Skin condition should be checked regularly for
persons with, or at risk for skin breakdown. This particularly applies to immobile patients. Selecting the correct mattress
density is extremely important in such cases.
The use of ThevoCalm does not require any special instructions. After practical use and conducting several tests, we are
unaware of any problems associated with the use of this product.
When used properly, there are no known risks.

Important hint: For the correct supply it is important to ensure that the mattress is selected according to the body
weight of the user in question.
• ThevoCalm 80 up to a body weight of 80 kg (176.4 lbs)
• ThevoCalm 140 from 100 kg (220.4 lb) up to a body weight of 140 kg (308.6 lbs)
ThevoCalm 140 may also be used in the border zone of patients weighing 80 kg/176.4 lbs (+/- 2 kg / +/- 4.4 lb).
Caution: ThevoCalm is not suitable for the prevention and treatment of decubitus ulcers. This requires the use of either
ThevoautoActiv or ThevoActiv. We would be pleased to advise you
Warranty conditions
The company Thomashilfen takes full responsibility for the quality of the product supplied. The highest production
standards are used in the selection and processing of materials. All ThevoCalm mattresses are subjected to a thorough
final inspection. Thomashilfen offers you a warranty of 24 months. Please retain all relevant ThevoCalm receipts. The
warranty covers all claims arising from manufacturing or material defects that affect product function. Damage arising
from inappropriate use and natural wear and tear is excluded.
Important hint: ThevoCalm is autoclavable and may be re-used. ThevoCalm should be cleaned and disinfected
using one of the cleaning methods stated on page 7 with every change of user. Servicing by the manufacturer is not
necessary.
