BEFORE YOU GET STARTED
PLEASE READ INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY
• Check the pack and make sure you have all the parts listed.
• When you are ready to start, make sure you have the right tools at hand (not supplied).
• Ensure there is plenty of space and a clean dry area for assembly.
TIMBER
As with all natural materials, mber can be aected during various weather condions. For the duraon of
heavy or extended periods of rain, swelling of the wood logs may occur. Warping of the wood may also occur
during excessive dry spells due to an interior moisture loss. Unfortunately, these processes cannot be avoided
but can be migated. It is suggested that the outdoor building is sprayed with water during extended periods of
warm sunshine and sheltered as much as possible during rain or snow.
Please do not paint or treat your cabin mbers before assembly as they must stay dry for a snug tongue and
groove t. To validate your guarantee and ensure longevity of the product, it is ESSENTIAL that your building is
treated with an appropriate high-quality oil or solvent based preservave AFTER assembly, both internally and
externally, then annually thereaer.
BUILDING A BASE
Care must be taken to ensure the product is placed on a suitable base. When thinking about where the building
and base is going to be constructed, ensure that there will be access to all sides for maintenance work and
annual treatment.
Ensure the base is rm and level and is built on rm ground, to prevent distoron.
The constructed base must be at least the size of tanalised oor bearers as referenced in supplied construct
diagram. It is also recommended that the oor be at least 25mm above the surrounding ground level to avoid
ooding.
TYPES OF BASE
• Durable plasc grid*.
• Concrete 75mm laid on top of 75mm hard-core.
• Slabs laid on 50mm of sharp sand.
• Timber base - Self constructed/Buy pre-made.
*We recommend a Fastt EcoBase for your building. It is durable, lightweight, exible, and easy to put in place.

TOOLS REQUIRED
We recommend using the following tools (not supplied):

Unpacking supplied cabin.
• Remove all wrapping from delivery. From top to boom, cut banding holding all components together and
remove the cabin components.
NOTE: PARTS MAY HAVE BECOME LOOSE OR MOVED DURING TRANSPORTATION.
• Lay components on a dry, horizontal surface.

ASSEMBLY
• Assembly is straighorward if you follow these step-by-step instrucons.
• We recommend geng everything aligned properly before screwing together and that
screw holes should be pre-drilled to avoid spling the mber. (Do not come pre-drilled).
IMPORTANT
• Before assembly, please make sure you have a suitable base ready to erect your building on.
• Your base MUST be rm and level to ensure that the building is assembled properly and is square.
• Please carefully remove the packaging and unpack the components in your delivery.
NOTE: ADDITIONAL TIMBER MAY BE INCLUDED AS PACKING MATERIALS.
• DO NOT start your build unl you have checked that all the parts of your building are present and in a suitable condion.
• If you are organising a third party to install your building, it is best pracce not to schedule this immediately on receipt of
your order, to give you me to check your delivery.

Step 1:
UNPACKING CABIN COMPONENTS:
• Unpack all components from your supplied cabin pack(s) and place each individual component in the correct
order using the supplied construct diagram and parts list as a guide. Ensure all components are present and in
the correct posion before beginning assembly.
• Each log interlocks in a staggered paern.
NOTE: SOME LOGS FEATURE ADDITIONAL FULL NOTCHES & HALF NOTCHES.
• Before securing, ensure that the logs are ed properly in their respecve tongue and grooves, gently tapping
down with a mallet. (Detail A1 & A2)

Use packing materials to protect when
tapping logs into place.

Step 2:
DOUBLE DOOR ASSEMBLY
• For cabins with double doors, build up door frame using the four door components provided.
Remove supplied key. This is usually stapled over keyhole.
• Arrange the door framing onto a rm and level surface, with hinges to the ground. Slot the door sill (base)
then the door head into place. Secure the 4 secons together through the joints using 1x S60 per corner.

Step 3:
LAY DOWN TANALISED BEARERS
• Refer to the oor plan of your construct diagram, posion the tanalised bearers on prepared base.
• Spread out the tanalised bearers equally at approx. 400mm centres. (Detail C For Orientaon)
NOTE: ON LARGER CABINS, TANALISED BEARERS MAY BE SUPPLIED IN MORE THAN 1 PIECE.
PLEASE REFER TO YOUR CONSTRUCT DIAGRAM FOR THIS.

Step 4:
BEGIN BUILDING WALLS
• Place 1st layer of logs on the edges of the bearers. Ensure half logs are put down rst.
See construct diagram for build order.
• Measure corner to corner diagonally to make sure cabin oor is square. If both values are equal, your frame is
square. Realign the oor unl square. Do not trim.
• Screw logs into tanalised bearers using 3x S80 per log. (1x S80 in centre, 1x S80 per end notch)
• For xing through notches. (Detail D1)
• For xing through half log. (Detail D2 & D3)
• Check that oor is level using a spirit level.

Step 5:
SECURING FLOOR
• Check oorboards are correct size. Do not mix up with roof boards.
• Lay 5 oorboards in posion and tack in place. Leave approx. 2.5mm gap between the edge of the oorboards
and the inside of external walls. (Detail E)
NOTE: DO NOT FULLY SECURE AS THESE ARE ONLY TO KEEP THE FLOOR SQUARE WHILE BUILDING
THE LOG CABIN.*
• *For cabins with internal paron, the oorboards will need to be fully installed at this stage to allow paron
base logs to be installed. Please jump to Step 14 for details.

Step 6:
CONTINUE TO BUILD WALLS
• Using construct diagram as a guide, begin to build up the walls by interlocking the logs layer by layer unl
3 logs high.
• At this point, store remaining oorboards inside the cabin ready for installaon. You may not be able to t
oorboards through the door once cabin has been built.

Step 7:
INSTALL DOORS & WINDOWS
• Take the assembled doors and frame and slide over the logs unl fully inserted.
• Posion centrally within opening. This will leave a gap either side for seling. (Detail F1)
NOTE: DOORS ARE VERY HEAVY, PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN LIFTING INTO PLACE.
• Fix supplied door handle to enable access to the cabin. (Detail F2)

CHECK.

Step 8:
INSTALL GABLE TOPS
• Unscrew pent gable top as shown. Keep screws in a safe place.
• Install pent gable tops. Place 1on top of the nal side logs.
• Fit logs to high and low side of cabin as shown.
• Fit upright post under 1, using notch as guide.
• Aach support arms to upright post, using notches as a guide on logs, with 2x S80 into the
post only. (Detail G)
NOTE: DO NOT FIX POST AND SUPPORT ARMS TO LOGS AT THIS STAGE.
NOTE: LONGER SUPPORT ARM FITTED TO HIGH SIDE OF CABIN.
• Repeat the process for 2 3 4 logs from pent gable top. Build up logs on high side to complete this wall.
• Secure pent gable top back together using previously removed screws.
NOTE: LARGER CABINS MAY HAVE ADDITIONAL TRUSSES TO SUPPORT ROOF.

Step 10:
INSTALL ROOF BOARDS
• Before installing the roof boards, check that the cabin is square both vercally & horizontally.
Adjust if required.
• Posion a tongue & groove roof board ush with purlin at one end of roof.
• Fix through high side top log using 2x N65 per board.. (Detail I1)
• Fix through one purlin using 2x N65 per board. (Detail I2)
• Fix through low side top logs using 2x N65 per board. (Detail I3)
• Connue working across roof, repeang the steps above.
• The nal roof board may need trimming to sit ush with purlin at end.

TOP TIP
Measure 175mm from the boom edge of roof board to outside of back
wall to get correct overhang on lower edge of roof. (Detail H3)

Step 9:
INSTALL PURLINS
• Posion the purlins with the angled cuts to the boom. (Detail H1)
Ensure notches in purlins line up with gable tops.
• Secure the purlins into the gable tops using 2x N65 per purlin per gable top. (Detail H2)
• Repeat for all purlin and gable top joins.

Step 12:
SECURE UPRIGHT POST AND SUPPORT ARMS TO CABIN
• Secure upright post to cabin logs using 2x S40 per side. (Detail K)
• Repeat for both support arms.

Step 11:
INSTALL ROOF BATTEN AND SKIRTING
• Fix roof baen onto the underside of roof boards on low side using 6x N40, evenly spaced along length.
Finish with a piece of skirng, aached using 6x N40, evenly spaced along length. (Detail J1 & J2)
• Fix roof baen only on high side as shown using 6x N40, evenly spaced along length. (Detail J3)

Step 13:
FELT THE ROOF - MEASURE AND CUT BEFORE INSTALLING FELT
• Roll felt out onto a clean at surface 30 minutes before you need it so it has a chance to aen out.
• Measure length of roof and allow 75mm overhang at each end. Cut each strip of felt to size.
Use a straight edge to guide cung.
• Roll cut felt piece along low side of roof, Secon 1, leaving sucient overhang to fold down onto roof edge.
Do not fold underneath roof. (Detail L1 & L2)
• Once felt is rolled out, x to roof using CN20 both ends, making sure felt is straight. Secure through skirng
using CN20 at approx. 100mm intervals. (Detail L2)
Ensure the felt is ght, secure the top side of felt using CN20 at approx. 100mm intervals. (Detail L3)
• Repeat for remaining felt, working from the low side of roof to the high side, overlapping the felt by 75mm
unl the roof is fully covered. (Detail L3)
• Fold the overhanging felt at ends under roof board and tack in place.

Step 14:
ATTACH ROOF FASCIA BOARDS (BARGEBOARDS)
• Secure fascias together to create a double height fascia for the Lakra using 2x N40 per 175mm framing
supplied. (Detail M1 & M2)
NOTE: ON HIGH SIDE FASCIAS WE RECOMMEND 5x 175MM BATTENS PER DOUBLE HEIGHT
FASCIAS. ON GABLE FASCIAS WE RECOMMEND 3x 175mm.
NOTE: PLEASE CHECK SPACING AT ENDS OF FASCIAS TO MAKE SURE BATTENS REMAIN HIDDEN
NOTE: ON LARGER LAKRA CABINS, THE FRONT FASCIAS MAY BE SUPPLED IN 4 OR MORE SECTIONS.
• Aach front roof fascia to the high side of the cabin using 6x N40 evenly spaced per fascia board, ensuring to
trap the felt in between. (Detail M3)
• Make sure overhangs are spaced evenly.
• Aach roof fascias to gables using 3x N40 per fascia board. Secure through baen (high side), a purlin
and baen (low side).
NOTE: THERE ARE NO BARGEBOARDS SUPPLIED FOR LOW SIDE OF ROOF AS THIS WILL PREVENT
EFFECTIVE WATER DRAINAGE.

Step 16:
FIXING DOORS AND WINDOWS
• Check the doors are square and screw the fascia boards (from the inside) into the logs behind with 6x S40
evenly spaced as shown.
• Repeat process for all remaining doors and windows in your cabin.

Timber is a natural product; any log or board can expand and contract. This may cause slight gapping in the
log cabin which can be reced by un-screwing and re-screwing fascia boards over the course of the year.

Step 15:
LAY FLOORBOARDS
• Start to lay the oorboards. There should be a 2.5mm gap
between the edge of the oorboards and the outer
logs to allow for expansion and contracon.
• Nail the oorboards to the tanalised bearers below with
2x BA40 evenly spaced per oorboard per tanalised bearer.
• The last board will need cung down to size. If installing
any parons, please return to Step 6.

Step 17:
INSTALL INTERNAL ROOF BATTENS
• Fix internal roof baens to the top side logs using 4x S40 evenly spaced along the baen as shown. (Detail N)
• These will seal roof and side walls.

FIT INTERNAL SKIRTING
• Arrange the skirng around the outside edge of oor (internally), measure and cut down if required to best
match the internal space.
• Secure each skirng secon into place using 3x S40 evenly spaced along the length. (Detail O1 & O2)

Step 19:
ATTACH STORM BRACES
• Fix storm braces to the inside of gables
with 2x CB40 provided. Always leave
the boom CB40 slack enough to let
the storm brace move as the cabin
expands and contracts. (Detail P1 & P2)
NOTE: ENSURE THE STORM BRACES
ARE SECURED INTO THE GABLE TOP
ON EACH SIDE.

ATTACHING FASCIA SLEEVE
• Fix fascia sleeve to logs using 3x S40
evenly spaced along the board as shown.
