Talk
Talk is the main application on your Swift for text-to-
speech communication.
1Use the joystick to move up and down the
predicted words, and Do to select.
2Press to speak your new text.
3If the right prediction does not appear, move
left with your joystick and enter text using the
on-screen keyboard.
Tip –Spaces
and new lines
are automatically
added as you
type and speak.
Home Bar
Press at any
time to show the
main menu on your
Swift, the Home Bar.
Talk
Create and speak new text. You will see
the Talk activity first when you turn on
your Swift.
QuickChat
Create a grid of nine short pieces of text,
for example Yes please or Hello, how are
you?, for quick conversations.
QuickSounds
Access five of your most commonly used
sounds with one press of the joystick.
Phrases and
Topics
Store short phrases for quick and easy
conversations. Sort your phrases into
topics to easily find the right phrases.
Notebook
Create, store and speak longer pieces of
text to read and speak. Notes can also be
transferred to and from your PC.
Volume
Change how loud your speech, sounds
and alerts are.
Settings
Change the way your Swift works and
looks. Settings are divided into nine
dierent groups.
Sleep
Enter sleep. Your Swift will also
automatically go to sleep if it is not used
for a short time.
Keyboard
Joystick Move around or select an item
with the central press.
Do Select an item.
Speak Speak your text.
Home
Show the Home Bar or wake
your Swift. Hold down to restart.
Cancel
Delete or undo text, and cancel
speech or sounds.
Menu
Show the menu for each activity.
Return settings to default.
Always press Home to turn on your Swift.
Tip –You can change how your keys and joystick
work in the Keyboard section of Settings.
Caring for Your Swift
Tips for taking care of your
communication aid.
1Charge your Swift routinely for 6 hours each night.
2If necessary, secure it with lanyards or straps
during use.
3Try to avoid contact with liquids.
4Create regular backups of your data, and transfer
them to a computer if possible.
5When connected to a computer, always use the
eject option on your computer to disconnect your
Swift before removing the cable.
