1-Importantinformationaboutinstallingandusingthe stove
2 AssemblyoftheStove
Thestovemaybesuppliedwiththefluecollarfittedtotheback.Iftheinstallationrequiresthe
flue toexitfromthe top ofthe stove,swap the collar for the blanking plate onthe top.
2.1.Laythestove carefullyonitssideand attach oneleg toeach corner ofthe base using the
boltsand washers. Carefullyliftthe stove backuprighttorestonitsfeet.

care whenassemblingandmovingthestove.Itismade ofcastironandisvery
heavy ( 50kgs)
•All nationalandlocalregulationsneedtobecompliedwithwheninstallingthestove.
•The stove mustbe installed byaregisteredinstaller orapproved byyour local
building controlofficer.
•Onlyuse for domesticheating purposesonly.
•Burnonlyapproved fuels.
•Thisstovewillbecomeveryhotwhilstinoperationandduecare shouldbetaken.Use
onlythe toolprovided tooperate the door handlesand ashpan.
Donotplace flammable objectsonor near the stove.
•ThestovemustNOTbeinstalledintoachimneythat servesanyother applianceand
issuitable forintermittentburning.
•There mustbe asuitable air supplyintothe roomwhere the stoveisinstalled and
care should be takensoitisnotpossible toblockthe frontor backairinletstothe
stove.
•There mustNOTbeanextractorfaninthesameroomasthestoveasthismaycause
fumestobe emittedintothe room.
•Donotmake unauthorised changesor modificationstothe stove
•The stove and chimneyflue mustbe regularlycleaned.Itisespeciallyimportantto
checkfor blockagesfollowing aprolonged shutdownperiod.Itisrecommended that
the stove and flue isregularlymaintained byacompetentengineer.

3 Installationofthestove
3.1. Regulations
All nationaland localregulationsneed tobe compliedwithwheninstalling the stove.
3.2. Installation
The stove mustbe installed byaregisteredinstaller orapproved byyour localbuilding
controlofficer.
3.3.Safetyclearances
The stove mustbe installed withthe following minimumsafetyclearancesfrom
combustible materials.
Side 200mm
Rear200mm
Ifthe stoveistobe installedinanoncombustible recess itisrecommended that
100mm clearance isleftat the backandsidesfor maintenance and toallowair to
circulate around the stove.
3.4.Floor
Nationaland localbuilding regulationsmustbe complied withwhenconsidering the floor
orhearthwhere thestove istobeinstalled.The floormustbecapable ofbearingtheweightof
the stove and the hearthtemperature which ontestwasmeasured at 66.4deg Confullfire.
3.5.Access forcleaning
Considerationmustbe giventoinstalling extraaccess inthe flue systemtoensure all
sectionscanbe cleaned and maintained.

4OperatingInstructions
4.1.Fuel
Wood
Useonlyseasoned timber withamoisture contentofless than20%.Typicallythismeans
wood which hasbeencutand storedinanopendryshelter for betweenone and twoyears.
DONOTBURN wetor unseasoned wood,constructiontimber,paintedor treated wood,
driftwoodormanufacturedboardproducts.Doingsowillresultinthewoodburninginefficiently
and excess smoke,sootand tar will be produced.Thiswillcoat and damage the internal
componentsofthe stove and flue and could resultinachimneyfire.
DONOTBURN bituminouscoal,anypetroleumbased productsor anyliquid fuels
4.2.Beforelighting
Ifusing for the firsttime,or following along periodoutofuse checkthat the flue isclear
and unobstructed.
Checkthat the ashpanisemptyand inposition.
Duringthefirstfew timesthestoveisused,theheatresistantpaintwillbecuring,andmaygive
off small amountsofsmoke and odours. Thisiscompletelynormalfor thistype ofappliance,
and the roomshould be well ventilated.
Toaidthisprocessandnotdamagethestovefinish,thefirstfew timesanewstoveisused
the fire should be kepttoamoderate size,and notfired vigorously.
4.3. Lightingawoodfire
Place 2or 3firelightersorscrewed up newspaper ontothe fire grate withabout1kg of
kindling and lightthe fire withataper.
Whenthe firelightersor newspaper are burning,leavethe door ajar about1to2cm to
achieve agood draw and avoid condensation.Allow the burning kindling towarmup the
chimney.
After 2to5minutesthe chimneyshould be warmenoughcreate agood draw and the
door canbe closed.
Once the kindling hasformed agood bedofglowing embersthe stove canbe refuelled
with2or 3piecesofwood.(donotbe tempted tooverfill the firebox and riskfuelfalling onto
the glass or outthe fire asthe doorisopened)
Under normalchimneydraftconditionsexpecttorefuelthe stove every45 to60 minutes.
WARNING
Whenopeningthedooralwaysopengentlyfor thefirst2to3cmtoallowthepressuretoequalise
andstopsmoke fromescaping.
Thestoveshouldnotbe operatedwitheitherdoorleftopenfor longperiods.
Thestovedoor shouldneverbeleftopenwhenthestove isinuse.

4.4. De-ashingthestove
Before de-ashing the stove,makesure that allthe fuelhasburned outand theasheshas
cooldown,thenuse a brush letthe ashfall frombed ofthe fire intothe ashpanunderneath.
Thentakeoutoftheashpan.inthiscase,ifyouhavethevacuum cleaner, Suckedtheaskinto
the vacuum cleaner directly.
Ifthe stovestill burning whenyouwanttode-ashing the stove,plsmake sure that you
take aFire-retardantglove and use specialtoolsfor cleaning.Brushand vacuum cleaner are
notsuitable inthiscase.
5 Guidance onsafe operation
Firecanbevery dangerous
During operation,thestove and all the fittings(door handlesand controls) getveryhot.
Donotoverfirethestove.
Itispossible tofire thestove tosuch anextentthat damage mayoccur.Lookoutfor partsof
thestoveorflueglowingredhot.Ifsuch asituationoccursadjusttheairsupplyaccordinglyto
reduce the burning rate.
Chimneyfire
Inthe eventofachimneyfire
Shutall air controlsimmediately
Raise the alarmand evacuate the building
Call the fire brigade
Donotre-enter the building
Fumes
Ifinstalled,operatedandmaintainedcorrectlythestovewill notemitfumesintotheroomother
thanoccasionallyverysmall amountswhenre-fuellingor de-ashing.
Iffumesare being emitted during normaloperation
Ventilate the roombyopening alldoorsand windows.
Letthe fire burnout
Leave the room
Checkthe stove,flue and chimneyfor blockages
Donotre-use the stove until the cause ofthe problemhasbeenidentified and rectified.
Ifrequired seekexperthelp.
Adverseweather conditions
Inasmall number ofinstallations, veryoccasionallyinspecificweather conditions(directionof
wind) the draw ofthe chimneymaybe affected causing adowndraughtand fumestobe
emitted intothe room.
Ifthisisthe case the stove should notbe used and advice soughtfromaprofessionalflue
installer whowould be able toadvise onpossible solutionssuch asananti-downdraughtcowl.
WARNING
Take great care whenremoving and emptying the ashpan.Itmaybe very
hotand stillcontainburning or smouldering embersand isafire risk.

6-Maintenance
Beforeuse
Betweenburnsinthestoveitisgoodpracticetokeepashanddebristoaminimum.Especially
emptythe ashpanand ashpansection.Remember thatifonlyburning wood itis
recommended tokeep abed ofashabout1cm thickonthe grate.
Cleaningthestove
Cleanthe outsideofthe stove withasoftbrush.
Note that ifrequired the flue canbe accessed for cleaning frominside the stove.
Stoveglass
Cleanthestoveglass onlywhencoolwithaspecialistglass cleaner.Useofanyabrasivecleaner
willscratch the glassand make subsequentcleaning more difficult.
Chimney
Itisimportanttohave the chimneycleaned at leastonce ayear.
Regular inspectionand cleaning ofthe internalcomponentsofthe stove canindicate ifthe
chimneyrequiresmore frequentcleaning.
Ifthestovehasbeenunusedforanextendedperiod(duringthesummer) thechimneyshould
be checked byacompetentpersonbefore use.
Note
All partsthat are indirectcontactwiththe fire (grate,Baffle,backorside air boxes) are
considered asnormalwear parts. Theirlife willbe dependantonhow vigorouslythestoveis
operatedandtheymustbeinspectedandmaintainedonaregularbasis. Iftheybecomeworn,
damaged or notpositioned correctly,nonwear partssuch asthe stove top and sideswill be
exposed toexcessive heat and maybe damaged.
