Proper amplifier use
1. Using the TP21 with loudspeakers:
Please connect loudspeakers according to the diagram above, where the
appropriate loudspeaker terminals connect to the associated amplifier output
terminal. Use either bare speaker wire or cables terminated with banana plugs.
Ensure that you do not short out the amplifier, connecting positive speaker
output terminals to negative speaker output terminals (on the same channel or
across both channels), as this can cause permanent damage to the amplifier
and voids the warranty. Additionally, this amplifier cannot be connected in
bridged-mono mode for a single output; this will permanently damage the
amplifier and void the warranty.
2. Using the TP21 with headphones:
The TP21 has dual output, when you plug headphones into the TP21, the
TP21 automatically switches to headphone mode and only sends signal to the
headphone amplifier section, disconnecting the Tripath TA2021's amplifier
speaker output.

Troubleshooting
No sound at all:
• Check to see that the power supply is properly connected and seated to
the power input on the rear of the amplifier. An LED on the power supply
will light when proper connection is made.
• Ensure the power switch on the rear of the TP21 is in the on position.
• Ensure the RCA cables are properly connected to the RCA inputs on the
rear of the amplifier.
• Check the volume control and make sure is not set to 0.
• Ensure the headphones are disconnected when using loudspeakers.
The sound is unusual:
• Double-check to see that your loudspeakers are correctly connected to
the rear of the amplifier and on the back of your loudspeakers. Check for
stray wires that could potentially short out against an adjacent terminal.
• Ensure that your loudspeakers have a minimum nominal impedance of
four ohms (4) or higher.
• Test your RCA cables with another device to see if they aren't causing
the issue.

6
Precautions
• Ensure the loudspeaker outputs, including the headphone jack, do not short
circuit or connect to ground.
• Keep the amplifier in reasonably cool, dry environments.
• Avoid dropping the amplifier.
• Opening the amplifier housing instantly voids the warranty!
• If liquid should come in contact with or be spilled into the amplifier housing,
turn the power off immediately and disconnect the power supply. It is best to
allow the liquid several days to dry. In most cases, once the liquid has dried
the amplifier will operate normally.
• Only use the supplied power supply with the TP21.
• Maintain a proper volume level at all times. If you hear distortion in your
headphones or loudspeakers, reduce the volume level immediately. This will
preserve your loudspeakers and headphones from permanent damage.
• The TP21 is designed for indoor use only.
