Training
•ReadtheOperator'sManualandothertrainingmaterial
carefully.Befamiliarwiththecontrols,safetysigns,and

Preparation
•Whileoperatingthemachine,alwayswearsubstantial
footwear,longtrousers,hardhat,safetyglasses,andear
protection.Longhair,looseclothing,orjewelrymayget
tangledinmovingparts.Donotoperatethemachine
whenbarefootorwearingopensandals.
•Thoroughlyinspecttheareawherethemachineistobe
used,andremoveallobjectswhichmaybedamagedby
themachine.
•Warning:Fuelishighlyammable.Takethefollowing
precautions:
–Storefuelincontainersspecicallydesignedforthis
purpose.
–Fueloutdoorsonly,anddonotsmokewhilefuelling.
–Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Neverremove
thecapofthefueltankoraddfuelwhiletheengineis
runningorwhentheengineishot.
–Iffuelisspilled,donotattempttostarttheengine
butmovethemachineawayfromtheareaofspillage
andavoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilfuel
vaporshavedissipated.
–Installallfuel-tankcapsandcontainercapssecurely.
•Replacewornordamagedsilencers.
•Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessoriesand
attachmentsareneededtoproperlyandsafelyperform
thejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved
bythemanufacturer.
•Checkthattheshieldsareattachedandfunctioning
properly.Donotoperateunlesstheyarefunctioning
properly.
Operation
•Donotoperatetheengineinaconnedspacewhere
dangerouscarbonmonoxidefumescancollect.
•Operatethemachineonlyindaylightoringoodarticial
light.
•Stayalertforholesintheterrainandotherhiddenhazards.
•Avoidoperatingthemachineinwetgrass,wherefeasible.
•Exerciseextremecautionwhenchangingdirectionon
slopes.
•Donotuseonexcessivelysteepslopes.
•Rememberthatthereisnosuchthingasasafeslope.
Travelongrassslopesrequiresparticularcare.Toguard
againstoverturning:
–Donotstoporstartsuddenlywhengoingupor
downhill.
–Engagethetransmissionslowly.
–Stayalertforhumpsandhollowsandotherhidden
hazards.
–Neveroperateacrossthefaceoftheslope,unlessthe
machineisdesignedforthispurpose.

•Beforedismountingthemachine,ensurethatitisparked
onalevelsurfacesothatitdoesnotrollaway.Chockthe
wheelsorrollersasrequired.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Besureto
travelintherecommendeddirectiononhillsides.Turf
conditionscanaffectthestabilityofthemachine.Use
cautionwhileoperatingneardrop-offs.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturnsandwhen
changingdirectionsonslopes.
•Shutoffthefuelwhilestoringortransportingthe
machine.Donotstorefuelnearamesordrainindoors.
•Parkmachineonlevelground.Chockthewheelsor
rollersasrequired.Neverallowuntrainedpersonnelto
servicethemachine.
•Usejackstandstosupportcomponentswhenrequired.
•Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswithstored

MaintenanceandStorage
•Closethefuel-shutoffvalvewhilestoringortransporting

fuel-storageareafreeofgrass,leaves,orexcessivegrease.
•Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware
andhydraulicttingstightened.Replaceallwornor
damagedpartsanddecals.
•Ifthefueltankhastobedrained,dothisoutdoors.
•Becarefulduringadjustmentofthemachinetoprevent
entrapmentofthengersbetweenmovingandxed
partsofthemachine.
•Stoptheengineanddisconnectthespark-plugwire.Wait
forallmovementtostopbeforeadjusting,cleaning,or
repairing.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromrollers,drives,mufers,and
enginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoilorfuelspillage.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Ifpossible,
donotmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.
Hauling
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoa
trailerortruck.
•Usefullwidthrampsforloadingmachineintotraileror
truck.
•Tiethemachinedownsecurelyusingstraps,chains,cable,
orropes.Bothfrontandrearstrapsshouldbedirected
downandoutwardfromthemachine.

Distributorcheckthemaximumenginespeedwitha
tachometer.Maximumgovernedenginespeedshould
be3200rpm.
•Ifmajorrepairsareeverneededorifassistanceisdesired,
contactanAuthorizedToroDistributor.
•UseonlyToro-approvedattachmentsandreplacement
parts.Thewarrantymaybevoidedifusedwith

SteeringWheel
Thesteeringwheel(Figure3)controlstheangleofthe
smoothingrollers,whichinturnsteertheunit.Theamount
thewheelcanbeturnedislimited,sotheturningcircleofthe
greensrollerisrelativelylarge.
Tomoveforwardorbacksimplyturnthesteeringwheelto
suitthedirectionyouareaimingfor.Asthedirectionchanges
attheendofeveryrun,youwillneedtopracticewiththe
greensrollertobecomeaccustomedtothesteering.Ifyou
wanttomoveforwardwhilemovingtotheright,turnthe
steeringwheelcounterclockwise,ifyouwanttomoveforward
whilemovingtotheleftyoumustturnthesteeringwheel
clockwise.
MotionPedals
Thetwo,footoperated,motionpedals(Figure3),foundon
eithersideofthesteeringwheelcolumn,controlthemotion
ofthedriveroller.Thepedalsareconnected,sotheycannot
bothbepresseddownatthesametime;youcanpressonly
onepedalatatime.Ifyoupressdownontherightpedalyou
willmovetotheright,andifyoupressdownontheleftpedal
youwillmovetotheleft.Thefurtheryoupressaparticular
pedal,thefasteryourspeedwillbeinthatdirection.
LiftingBar
Theliftingbar(Figure3)isstoredonthetowbarbracket
behindtheoperatorsseat.Itisusedtocreateenoughleverage
forcefortheoperatortoraisetheunitontothetransport
wheelsmakingtheunitreadyfortowing.
TowBar
Thetowbar(Figure3)isfoundbehindtheoperatorsseat.Itis
linkedtotheliftingarmmechanismviatwoliftingbarssothat
whenyouareloweringthewheelsintothetowingposition,
thetowbarisautomaticallyloweredintothedownposition.
SeatAdjustment
Theseatcanbemovedforwardorbacktoadjustfordifferent
heightoperators.Simplypulltheseatadjustmentlever(Figure
3)atthefrontleftoftheseattotheleftandslidetheseat
forwardorbacktosuit,thenreleasethelever.
HourMeter
Thehourmeter(Figure3)indicatesthetotalhoursof
machineoperation.
