sie entsprechend der Bedienungsanleitung benutzt werden. Bitte lesen Sie diese Bedie-
nungsanleitung sorgfältig bevor Sie das Produkt in Betrieb nehmen. Fehlende Berück-
sichtigung dieser Hinweise kann Sach- oder Personenschäden zur Folge haben. Torqeedo
übernimmt keine Haftung für Schäden die durch Handlungen entstanden sind, die im
Widerspruch zu dieser Bedienungsanleitung stehen.
Um einen sicheren Betrieb des Motors zu gewährleisten:

• Tauchen Sie den Akku nicht in Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten.
• Laden Sie den Akku nur bei Umgebungstemperaturen zwischen 0 °C und 45 °C.
• Der Akku Ihres Travel Motors ist als Gefahrgut der UN Klasse 9 deklariert. Der Transport
für private Nutzung ist unkritisch. Bei Versand über Transportunternehmen sind die
entsprechenden gesetzlichen Vorschriften zu beachten.
Wichtige Handhabungshinweise
Nachfolgend finden Sie eine Auswahl der wichtigsten Hinweise zur Handhabung von
Torqeedo Wechselakkus. Bitte beachten Sie neben diesen Hinweisen die gesamte Bedie-
nungsanleitung, um Schäden an Ihrem Akku zu verhindern.
• Der Akku ist in aufgesetztem Zustand gegen Regen und Spritzwasser geschützt. Er
darf nicht getaucht werden und die Kontakte sowie die Öffnung für das Ladegerät sind
trocken zu halten. Wassereintritt in den Akku durch die Kontakte oder durch die Öffnung
des Ladegeräts kann zur irreparablen Schädigung des Akkus führen. Sollte Flüssigkeit
in den Akku eingedrungen sein, entfernen Sie zunächst die Flüssigkeit durch Öffnungen
des Akkus. Trocken Sie dann den Akku zuerst in trockener, warmer Umgebung bis 50 °C,
bevor sie ihn erneut benutzen bzw. bevor Sie die „Battery Charge“ Taste drücken.
• Verwenden Sie gelegentlich Kontaktspray zur Pflege der Kontakte am Akku. Bei Betrieb
im Salz- oder Brackwasser ist die Behandlung mit Kontaktspray ein Mal monatlich
durchzuführen.
• Sie verlängern die Lebensdauer Ihres Akkus wenn sie ihn nicht länger als notwendig
sehr heißer Umgebung aussetzen und wenn sie ihn nicht länger als notwendig voll ge-
laden lagern. Um eine möglichst lange Lebensdauer des Akkus zu gewährleisten sollte
der Akku bei längerer Lagerung (z.B. während der Wintermonate) auf 20-40% entladen
werden und bei -20 °C bis +15 °C aufbewahrt werden.
• Bewahren Sie den Akku nur in trockenem Zustand im wasserdichten Packsack auf.
• Als erste Hilfe bei Funktionsstörungen des Akkus (alle LEDs blinken) nehmen Sie den
Akku vom Schaftkopf ab. Warten Sie bis die LEDs erlöschen (circa 5 Sekunden) und
drücken Sie die „Battery Charge“ Taste. In diese ist eine Reset-Funktion integriert, mit
deren Hilfe der Akku kleinere Störungen selbständig beheben kann.
• Sollten an Ihrem Akku Probleme auftreten, befolgen Sie bitte die Hinweise zur Ab-
wicklung von Garantiefällen in der Gebrauchsanweisung Ihres Travel oder BaseTravel
Motors.

Sehr geehrte Kundin, sehr geehrter Kunde,
wir freuen uns darüber, dass unser Motorenkonzept Sie überzeugt hat. Ihr Torqeedo Au-
ßenborder und Ihr Wechselakku entsprechen dem neuesten Stand der Technik.
Lithium-basierte Batterien sind derzeit die leistungsfähigsten Batteriekonzepte im Markt.
Sie verfügen über eine hervorragende Energiedichte und Hochstromfähigkeit und eine
Reihe weiterer Vorzüge. Innerhalb der Lithium-basierten Batteriesysteme gehören Lithi-
um-Mangan (LIMA) Batterien zu den sichersten Batterien überhaupt. Sie erfüllen wesent-
lich höhere Sicherheitsstandards als die derzeit in Laptops und Mobiltelefonen verwende-
ten Lithium-Kobalt Batterien.
Bitte nehmen Sie sich die Zeit, diese Bedienungsanleitung gründlich durchzulesen, damit
Sie Ihren Akku sachgemäß nutzen können und langfristig Freude an ihm haben.

1. Setzen Sie den Akkupack ein. Fassen Sie hierzu den Akkupack mit beiden Händen und
setzen Sie ihn von oben in den Schaftkopf ein. Anschließend schwenken Sie den Akku-
pack nach hinten bis er aufliegt und einrastet.
2. Sie können den Akku zusätzlich
mit dem Riegel, der dem Motor
beigefügt ist, gegen unbeabsichtigtes
Lösen vom Schaft sichern. Darüber
hinaus haben Sie die Möglichkeit eine
Sicherungsleine durch die Öse auf der
Unterseite des Akkus zu ziehen.
3. Der Motor ist fahrbereit sofern folgende Voraussetzungen vorliegen
• Akku ist geladen
• Ein/Aus Pin ist eingesteckt
• Steuerkabel ist eingesteckt
• Pinnengriff ist in die Stop-Stellung gebracht
• Kurze Wartezeit nach Einsetzen des Akkus wurde beachtet (< 5 Sekunden)

Der Akkupack ist mit Hochleistungs-Lithium-Mangan-Zellen, so genannten LIMA-Zellen
bestückt. Die LIMA-Zellen haben eine Selbstentladung bei 20 °C von unter 1% pro Monat,
sind zyklenstabil und haben keinen Memory-Effekt. Der Lithium Akku ist in einer Umge-
bungstemperatur von -20 °C bis +45 °C einsatzbereit.
Im Akkupack ist ein Controller integriert, der mehrere Funktionen zum Schutz und zur
Pflege ihres Akkus enthält. Unter anderem schützt der Controller den Akku gegen Tief-
entladung sowie gegen Überladung. Sie können den Akku also unbesorgt am Ladegerät
angeschlossen lassen bzw. ihn restlos leer fahren.
Der aktuelle Ladestand des Akkus kann jederzeit durch Drücken der „Battery Charge“ Ta-
ste angezeigt werden. Nach dem Drücken leuchten die LEDs circa 10 Sekunden und zeigen
den Ladestand des Akkus in Prozent an.
Beim Ladevorgang regelt der im Akkupack enthaltene Controller den Ladestrom. Während
des Ladevorganges leuchten die Leuchtdioden der Kapazitätsbereiche, die bereits geladen
sind, permanent. Die Leuchtdiode des Kapazitätsbereiches, der gerade geladen wird,
blinkt. Nachdem der Ladevorgang abgeschlossen ist und der Akku vollständig geladen ist
erlischt die LED-Anzeige.
Die reale Kapazität Ihres Akkupacks unterliegt technisch bedingt Schwankungen. Ebenso
verändert sich die Kapazität des Akkupacks im Laufe der Zeit. Zur Kompensation der Ka-
pazitätsveränderungen passt sich die Ladestandsanzeige der Kapazität des Akkupacks an.
Damit die Ladestandanzeige dauerhaft zuverlässige Werte anzeigt, ist es erforderlich, den
Akku einmal jährlich auf unter 20% zu entladen und wieder voll zu laden.

Das im Lieferumfang des Travel-Motors enthaltene Netzteil ist an den Akku-Controller
angepasst und lädt den Akku des Travel in circa 10 Stunden. Beim Laden in hoher Um-
gebungstemperatur (> 35 °C) können längere Ladezeiten auftreten, da der Controller mit
einer temperaturabhängigen Ladestromregelung ausgestattet ist. Diese sorgt für eine
schonende Ladung der Zellen. Verbinden Sie zum Laden das Netzteil mit dem Stromnetz
und dem Akku.Blindtext

Laden des Akkupacks.
• Bei einer Fehleranzeige am Akku (alle LEDs blinken) nehmen Sie den Akku vom
Schaftkopf ab. Warten Sie bis die LEDs erlöschen (circa 5 Sekunden) und drücken
Sie die „Battery Charge“ Taste. In diese ist eine Reset-Funktion integriert, mit deren
Hilfe der Akku kleinere Störungen selbständig beheben kann.

ren Lithium-basierten Batteriesystemen. Sollte dieser Fall eintreten, versuchen Sie
den Akku in eine Position zu bringen, wo er keinen Schaden anrichtet. Sollte dies
nicht möglich sein, halten Sie Abstand oder bedecken Sie den Akku mit Sand oder
anderen trockenen, nicht brennbaren Materialien.

10.1 Korrosionsschutz

10.2 Akkupflege

10.2 Sonstige Pflegehinweise
Zur Reinigung des Akkus können Sie alle für Kunststoff geeigneten Reinigungsmittel ent-
sprechend der Vorgabe des Herstellers verwenden.
• Reparaturen können nur von autorisierten Torqeedo Servicestellen
ausgeführt werden. Eigene Reparatur- und Umbauversuche haben einen
sofortigen Garantieverlust zur Folge.
• Bei Garantiefällen beachen Sie bitte die Garantiehinweise in der
Gebrauchsanweisung Ihres Motors.
11. Entsorgungshinweis
Die Torqeedo Travel Motoren und Wechselakkus sind entsprechend
der EG-Richtlinie 2002/96 hergestellt. Diese Richtlinie regelt die Entsor-
gung von Elektro- und Elektronikgeräten zum nachhaltigen Schutz der
Umwelt.
Sie können, entsprechend der regionalen Vorschriften, den Akku an
einer Sammelstelle abgeben. Von dort aus wird er der fachgerechten
Entsorgung zugeführt.

• Only charge the battery at ambient temperatures between 0° and 45°C.
• The battery of your Travel Motor is classified as a hazardous item under the UN 9
classification. Transport for private use is not critical. If sending by courier, the
appropriate legal regulations must be observed.
Important operating instructions
Here are the most important instructions on operating Torqeedo replacement batteries.
Apart from these instructions, please observe the complete operating instructions to
prevent damage to your battery.
• When mounted, the battery is protected against rain and spray water. Do not submerge
it, and keep the contacts as well as the charger port dry. If water enters the battery via
the contacts or the charger port, this can cause irreparable battery damage. If liquid has
entered the battery, first drain off the liquid through the battery case openings. Then dry
the battery in a dry, warm environment up to 50°C before you use it again or before you
press the „Battery charge“ button.
• Occasionally use contact spray to care for the contacts on the battery. If you use the
motor in salt or brackish water, we recommend applying contact spray once a month.
• You will prolong the life of your battery if you do not expose it to a very hot environ-
ment or store it fully charged for longer than necessary. When you store the battery
over an extended period (e.g. over the winter), empty it to about 20-40% and store it at
-20°C to +15°C to ensure a long battery life.
• Always store the battery dry in the drybag.
• If the battery malfunctions (all LEDs flash), remove the battery from the shaft head. Wait
until the LEDs go out (approx. 5 seconds) and press the „Battery charge“ button. This
features an integrated reset function and can correct smaller faults itself.
• Should you have any problems with your battery, please follow the instructions for sub-
mitting warranty claims in the instruction manual of your Travel or BaseTravel motor.

Lithium-based batteries are the most powerful kind on the market today. They come with
excellent energy density and high-current compatibility as well as a series of other ad-
vantages. Among lithium-based battery systems, lithium-manganese (LIMA) batteries are
some of the safest of all. They meet much higher safety standards than the lithium-cobalt
batteries currently used in laptops and mobile phones.
Please take the time to read these operating instructions carefully so that you can use
your battery properly and enjoy it for a long time.

1. Fit the battery pack. To do this, lift it with both hands and fit it into the shaft head from
above. Then swing the battery to the rear until it sits properly and engages.

9. Operation
The battery is equipped with high-performance lithium-manganese cells, so-called LIMA
cells. The LIMA cells have a self-discharge of under 1% per month at 20°C, are cyclically
stable and have no memory effect. The lithium battery can be used at an ambient
temperature of between -20°C and +45°C.
The battery has an integrated control system that has several functions for protecting and
caring for your battery. Among other functions, the control system protects the battery
against overdischarge as well as overcharging. So you can leave the battery on the
charger or empty it completely without worry.
The current charge status can be determined by pressing the „battery charge“ button at
any time. After pressing the button, the LEDs will illuminate for approx. 10 seconds and
show the charge level of the battery as a percentage.
When charging, the battery‘s control system regulates the charging current. The light
diodes glow permanently on the capacity areas that are already charged. The light diodes
of the capacity areas that are currently charging flash. Once charging is complete and the
battery is fully charged, the LEDs extinguish.
The real capacity of your battery is subject to technical fluctuations. Its capacity will also
change over time. To compensate for the capacity change, the charge indicator will adjust
to the battery‘s capacity. In order to ensure the charge indicator continues to show reliable
values, it is necessary to empty the battery to below 20% and then fully load it once a
year.

The power adapter supplied with the Travel motor fits to the battery controller and
charges the Travel battery in approx. 10 hours. When charging in high ambient
temperatures (>35°C), it could take longer, as the control system is fitted with a tempera-
ture-dependent current regulator. This ensures gentle charging of the cells. Connect the
charger and the battery to the mains for charging.
• When mounted, the battery is protected against rain and spray water.

battery in a dry, warm environment up to 50°C before you use it again or
before you press the „Battery charge“ button.
• Only use the Travel 401 battery with the Torqeedo Travel 401 outboard
motor and the Travel 801 battery only with the Travel 801.
• Only use the enclosed charger or one authorized by Torqeedo to charge
the battery.
• If a fault (all LEDs flashing) shows on the battery, take the battery off the
shaft head. Wait until the LEDs go out (approx. 5 seconds) and press the
„Battery charge“ button. This features an integrated reset function and
can correct smaller faults itself.
• Do not open the battery case and protect the battery pack from
mechanical damage.
• Do not short circuit the battery.
• Do not submerge the battery in water or other liquids.
• Only charge the battery at ambient temperatures between 0° and 45°C.
• LIMA battery cells only catch fire if they are exposed to temperatures
above 300°C. This is a major advantage over other lithium-type battery
systems. Should this occur, try and position the battery so it will cause
no damage. Should this not be possible, keep your distance or cover the
battery with sand or other dry, non-flammable materials.

10.1 Corrosion protection
• Only store the battery in a dry condition.
• Once a month, treat the contacts on the contact panel with contact spray.
10.2 Battery care
You will prolong the life of your battery if you do not expose it to a very hot environment
or store it fully charged for longer than necessary. When you store the battery over an
extended period (e.g. over the winter), empty it to about 20-40% and store it at -20°C to
+15°C to ensure a long battery life.
10.2 Other care instructions
To clean the battery you can use all cleaning agents suitable for plastic - follow the
manufacturer‘s instructions.
• Repairs may only be carried out by authorized Torqeedo Service Centers.
Should you attempt to carry out repairs or conversions yourself, this
immediately cancels the warranty.
• If you wish to make a warranty claim, please follow the instructions for
submitting warranty claims in the instruction manual of your motor
11. Disposal instructions
Torqeedo Travel motors and replacement batteries are manufactured
in accordance with EU Directive 2002/96. This directive regulates the
disposal of electrical and electronic devices for the protection of the
environment.
You can, in line with regional regulations, hand in the battery at a
collecting point. From there it will be professionally disposed of.

n’assume aucune responsabilité pour tout dommage résultant de manipulations qui
seraient en contradiction avec les consignes de ce mode d’emploi.
Pour assurer un bon fonctionnement du moteur :
• N’ouvrez pas le boîtier de la batterie, protégez la batterie de dommages mécaniques.
• Ne court-circuitez pas la batterie.

• Ne chargez la batterie qu’à des températures ambiantes comprises entre 0 °C et 45 °C.
• La batterie de votre moteur Travel est déclarée produit dangereux de la classe ONU
numéro 9. Le transport pour usage privé ne pose pas de problème. L’envoi par des
entreprises de transport est soumis aux dispositions légales en vigueur.
Consignes importantes d’utilisation
Vous trouverez ci-dessous les consignes les plus importantes portant sur l’utilisation des
batteries rechargeables de Torqeedo . Respectez non seulement ces consignes mais aussi
ce mode d’emploi dans son ensemble pour empêcher tout endommagement de votre
batterie.
• Une fois montée, la batterie est protégée contre la pluie et les éclaboussures d’eau. Elle
ne doit pas être immergée et les contacts doivent être maintenus à sec. Si de l’eau entre
dans la batterie via les contacts ou l’ouverture du chargeur, celle-ci peut en subir des
dommages irréparables. Si du liquide s’est introduit dans la batterie, faites d’abord
sortir ce liquide par les ouvertures de la batterie. Faites ensuite d’abord sécher la
batterie dans un endroit sec et chaud ne dépassant pas 50 °C avant d’appuyer sur la
touche de charge « Battery charge».
• Utilisez de temps en temps un spray pour contacts pour assurer l’entretien des contacts
de la batterie. En cas d’utilisation en eau salée ou saumâtre, le traitement au spray pour
contact se fera une fois par mois.
• N‘exposez pas votre batterie plus longtemps qu’il ne faut à des températures ambiantes
très élevées et ne l’entreposez pas plus longtemps qu’il ne faut en état de pleine charge,
vous rallongerez ainsi sa durée de vie. Pour garantir à votre batterie la plus longue
durée de vie possible, déchargez-la à 20-40 % avant un stockage relativement long (p.
ex. pour l’hiver) et conservez-la à des températures ambiantes comprises entre -20 °C et
+15 °C.
• Veillez à ce que la batterie soit bien sèche avant de la ranger dans le sac de transport
étanche.
• En cas de dysfonctionnement de la batterie (clignotement de tous les voyants), retirez
la batterie de la tête de l’arbre. Attendez que tous les voyants s’éteignent (5 secondes
environ) et appuyez sur la touche de charge « Battery Charge ». Il y est intégré une
fonction de remise à zéro qui permet d’éliminer les légers problèmes.
• En cas de problèmes survenant sur votre batterie, suivez les consignes portant sur la
procédure de recours à la garantie qui figurent dans le mode d’emploi de votre moteur
Travel ou BaseTravel.

Les batteries au lithium manganèse sont les concepts de batterie actuellement les plus
performants sur le marché. Elles disposent d’une densité d’énergie et d’une capacité
à fournir du courant fort exceptionnelles. Au sein des systèmes de batteries à base de
lithium, les batteries au lithium manganèse (LIMA) comptent parmi les plus sûres. Elles
répondent à des normes de sécurité bien plus élevées que les batteries au lithium cobalt
qui sont actuellement utilisées dans les téléphones portables et les ordinateurs portatifs.
