Locatethetelevisionaway fromdirectsunlightandstronglights;soft,
indirectlightingisrecommendedforcomfortableviewing. Usecurtains
orblindstopreventdirectsunlightfalling onthescreen.
Place onasturdy platform, the mounting surfaceshouldbe flat and
steady. It must thenbesecuredtothewallwithasturdytieusing
the clip on the back of the television, thiswillprevent itfrom
falling over.
Makesurethe television islocated in aposition where it cannot be
pushedorhitbyobjectsandthatsmallitems cannot beinsertedinto

batteries immediatelytopreventacidfrom leaking intothe batterycompartment.

Aerialcables:
Connecttheaerialtothesocketontherear ofthetelevi-
sion. If you use adecoder and/or amedia recorder it is
essential that the aerial cableis connected through the
decoder and/or throughthe media recorderto the televi-
sion.
SCARTleads:
Connectthemediarecorder IN/OUT sockettothetelevi-
sion. Connectthe decoder TV socket tothe television.
Connect the media recorder SAT socket tothe decoder
MEDIA RECORDER socket.
BeforerunningAPS(AUTOPROGRAMMINGSYSTEM)put
yourdecoder andmediarecorderto Standby.
Awidevarietyofexternalequipmentcanbeconnectedto
the backof the television, therefore the relevant owners
manualsfor all additionalequipment must bereferredto.
NOTE: BecuseFAVCVBS andSVHSYarecon-
nected parallelly,the picture may blend if
thetwo peripheralsareused atthesame
time.Likewise, becauseSVHS Cand
SCARTIIRare connected parallelly,the
picture mayblendifthetwoperipherals are
used atthesame time. Thusthese twoare
not tobeusedatthesame time.
If connectingS-VIDEOequipment, setthe INPUT for
AV-4 S. See page27.
Ifthe television automaticallyswitchesover tomonitor
externalequipment,returntonormaltelevisionby pressing
thedesiredprogrammepositionbutton.Torecallexternal
equipment,press toselectbetween ATV/DTV,AV-1,
AV-2,AV-2S,AV-4,AV-4S, YPbPr,HDMI or PC RGB.

• Power off both computer and TV before making anycon-
nections.
•ConnectthePCcableto thePCinputofyourTV andtothe
15-pin connector on the rear ofyour computer.
•Tighten the screws on the plugs untilthe connectorsare
fastened securely.
•Ifyou are using Windowsoperating system running on a
PCwithaMicrosoftPlug&Playcompatiblevideocard,your
system willselecttheappropriatetiming for your
monitor.No additional device driver is required.
• For PC sound, use stereo jack socket located at the right
side of the tuner.
High Definition
Your TV is capable of displaying High Definition pictures
from devicessuchasaHighDefinitionSatellite Receiver
orDVDPlayer.Thesedevicesmustbeconnectedviathe
HDMIsocketor YPbPr (Component)sockets.Thesesock-
etscanaccepteither720por 1080isignals.
PLEASE NOTE:Althoughthistelevisionisable toconnect
to HDMIequipment,itispossible that some equipment
maynotoperate correctly.HDMIcablesshouldbe less
than5m.
NOTE:It is recommended thatapproved HDMI
cables upto5mlong is used. If the unit has
DVI output, aspecialconversion cablefrom
DVI toHDMI willberequired.

Connections and controls
Awidevarietyofexternalequipmentcanbeconnectedviathesocketslocatedonthesideofthetelevision. Whilstallthe
necessaryadjustmentsandcontrolsforthetelevision aremadeusingtheremote control,the buttonsonthetopofthe
televisionmay beusedforsomefunctions.
Switching on
Ifthe power-on lightisunlit,connect the plug of the
mainssocket-outletandtheredLED will light. Press the
STAND-BYbuttonofthetelevisiontoswitchthetelevi-
sionon.ThentheLEDwillturnGREEN.
Toputthe television intoStandby,press on the
remotecontrolorontheTV;thegreenactiveStandby
LED willappear(see“SoftwareUpgrade”section)next
tothe greenON LED for afew moments. The red
Standby LED will thenlight. To viewthetelevisionpress
again orany of thenumberbuttons.The picturemay
takeafewsecondstoappear.
Using the remote control
Pressthe MENU buttonontheremote controlto seethe
menus.
In TV modethe menuappears asagroupoficonseach
for amenu option. Pressthe Leftor Right button to
selectatopic.
TousetheoptionspresstheUpandDown buttonson
theremotecontroltomoveupanddownthroughthem
and OK,Leftor Right buttonstoselectthe required
choice. Followtheonscreen instructions.Thefunctions
ofeachmenu are described in detailthroughout the
manual.
Using the controls and connections
Usingthecontrolbuttons onthetop oftheTV:
• Toalter the volumepress+ —.
•Toaltertheprogrammepositionpress onthetop
of the TV.
• Press MENU and + —and to control the
menu options.
•Press MENU to finish.
WhenconnectingmonosoundequipmenttoAV-4 (FRONT-
AV),connecttheaudiooutputof theequipmenttotheLor
Rsocketonthetelevision, then press toselect
DualIforleftmonoorDualIIforrightmono.
ToselecttheInput,press until AV-4 ishighlightedin
SOURCE menuasdescribedon page26. Thetelevision
will automaticallysensethe type of signal.
Pleasealwaysrefer totheowner’s manualoftheequipment
tobeconnectedforfulldetails.

Before switching on the television putyour decoder and media recorder to Standby if theyare connected and ensure the
aerial is connected to your television. Toset up the television use the buttons onthe remote control as detailed on page 4.
Connect themains plug andswitchtheTV intostandby
usingtherearPowerbutton.Pressanynumberedor
standby buttonontheremotecontrol,the LocalOp-
tions screenwillappear.Thisscreenwillappearthe
firsttime thatthetelevisionisswitched on andeach
timethetelevisionisreset.
LOCALOPTIONS
Selectyour Country byusing or buttons.Use
tomovedownthroughthelist.
Setyour Language and AudioLanguage outofthe
optionsavailable.
Youcanalsoset Subtitles OFF,aswellasspecifying
thesubtitlelanguage.
Whencompleted,press OK tostarttuning.
After auto-tuning hascompleted,you mayfind the
timeisnotcorrect.Inthiscase, you can adjust the
timeby using and buttonstohighlight Local
TimeSetting, and andbuttonstosetthecorrect
time.
TheAutotuningscreenwillappearandthetelevisionwill
starttosearchforavailablestations.
Theprogressbarwillmovealongtheline.
DTV AUTOTUNING
Youmustallow thetelevisiontocompletethesearch.
When thesearchiscompletetheAuto tuningscreenwill

Toallocate aprogrammeposition on the television for a
decoderandmediarecorder:turnthedecoder on,inserta
pre-recordedfilmintothemediarecorderandpressPLAY,
thenmanuallytune.
